I have been catching a ton of bass lately on a 1/16 oz jig head with a senko style worm and deadsticking it for 20-30 seconds. I think this is my new favorite finesse tactic. Also, a finesse worm on a 1/8 shakey head / spot remover has been working well for me.
What are your favorite finesse tactics?
The bass's favorite technique is-----
3/32-1/8 shakey head in the early early spring or skipping wacky jigs under docks in the summer.
1/8 or 1/16 oz Snagless Slider head Pro Series and 4" worms. I use a variety of worm brands including Kalins Western Weenies, Original Powerbait, Luck E Strike Ringworms , plus my favorite....Producto 4" Tournament and Spring worms. The action of the Producto's, on the fall, is breathtaking. This rig is killer on inside weedlines or around any shallow cover.
Anything on a picasso shakey head, my favorite though has to be a berkley shakey worm.
Weightless trickworms or straight tails are what I am best at.
4" Senko in your favorite color weightless!
Dropshotting.
5" Weightless senko knock-off, t-rigged.
Senko wacky and T-rig
A pretty close race between dropshotting and shakey heading.
For me it has been the Wacky senko and the Zoom trick work fished weightless.I've caught alot of fish with this technique when the fish wouldn't hit anything else.
Finesse Cranking
Honey B, Flat-Shad Little B, Norman's Crappie Crank, Zoom WEC Sweet Pea, little Rapala Shad Raps, etc.etc..
Dropshotting and Shakey head jigging.
Deadsticking jigs around creek beds or in between stumps. For Grass I like to drop a plastic worm in, let it set for a while and then move it just enough so that it changes position.
A 4" texas rigged weightless senko, or a 4" power worm or ring worm on a split shot rig.
Zoom finesse worm T-rigged
Rage Tail Lobster on a 3/8 oz Evolution Shake2.
8-)
Zoom Trick worm.
Zoom U-tail, weightless
watermelon seed
red shad
1/16 or 1/32 oz. Jig. fished really slow, making it look like its crawling.
Texas rig or split shot rig Yum Rib Fry.
Drop shot Zoom Tiny Fluke or Roboworm Alive Shad.
Finesse worms with a very small split-shot about 6 inches up the line.
WOW,
Nobody has mentioned the Jackall flick shake. Sweet..... glad im the only one doing it ;D
A lot of good ones have already been mentioned. I have been doing well deadsticking a Yamamoto Slim Senko in shallow grass. I also like to tail weight a Zoom Centipede so it glides backwards. This year throwing a Kietch jig with a 2-3/4" Yum Craw Papi attached to it and shaking it has been good in deep water when Ive had a tough bite. One last one is taking a 3" stickworm and attaching it to a 1/16 oz Gopher Mushroom jighead (small shank hook), has a nice "death spiral" and puts fish in the boat when confronted with clear skies, clear water & light wind.
Gee whiz, I need to just copy this whole thread and save it for things to try. I thought finesse was my strong suit but it seems I am still in the first grade.
I simply t-rig or small jig-head a six inch, usually dark green, curly tail worm, cast into the deep water and slowly bottom bounce it up the slope back to me. I usually can pick up two to three dinks an hour this way, even when nothing else works.
The bass in my pic, my personal best, was caught this way except in my float it's bank beating.
I guess I look at "finesse tactic" as something different - a way to fish, not a specific bait. That said, dead sticking and the "grip," where I simply squeeze the rod to impart a tiny bit of action are probably the two most deadly tactics. Works with any jig or soft plastic.
To my mind, "finesse" refers to delivery more than size, where both the lure and retrieve are passive and non-aggressive.
My favorite finesse technique uses a 7" worm, and frankly, I don't know of a better way to get the skunk out of the boat
Gambler 7" Big Stick (shadow blue glitter) rigged on 3/16oz Owner Type-Z Bullet Head
Await bottom contact - Twitch "lightly" in place 2 or 3 times - Pause about 5 secs while mending the slack - Repeat
(During each pause, the worm stands vertically erect [come hither] while the skirt-tail rocks seductively back-&-forth)

Well Roger, the dictionary will prove you correct. It is possible to "finesse" a crankbait through brush, a 1/2 oz jig over rock. or 3/4 oz spinnerbait through reeds etc
Light line, small lures and sissy sticks for deft presentations in clear water have just become the stereotype over the years I guess.
5 inch berkely shaky worm on a strike king shaky head jig fished as slowly as you can.

I was just about to......
Jackall Flick Shake 6.8" wacky rigged on a 1/16 zappu wacky jig head.
i've also been using jackall flick shakes. i've been using them with the jackall weedless jig heads, but somehow seem to be losing a lot of fish with these hooks. once the fish jumps out of the water, they seem to undo the hook.. can it be because of the small barb on the hook? any suggestions?
I use a 3/16 bullet weight's worm weight,6lb berkley maxx,7ft2in fenwick elite-teck spinning rod,and usually a zoom 6in shakey head,in junebug, green pumpkin,or any scented finesse worm of choice and HOLD ON! I fish these "carolina style" usually 18 to 24 inches from weight to end of tail of bait, also had good luck with the lake fork baby creature's. junebugmn
Wacky a 5 inch Strike King Zero worm PB & J on a 1/0 Demon circle hook and skip that sucker as faaaarrrrr under the pontoon boats as possible and light up a smoke...........tiny twitch.............take another drag.................tiny twitch............another drag and so on. When the line flinches, lean back and start crankin! Remember, these worms only work for about 15 to twenty minutes before they start floating so keep an eye on them.

The Jackall jig heads are very fine wired hooks. A 4lber. can straighten one of those hooks.
