What's the best deal that you partook of regarding fishing?
Mine arrived today.
I bought 20 assorted bags of Gene Larew, Zoom, Strike King, Strike King 3x, and Snapback soft plastics from a guy on ebay for $30 bucks all told.
Great bunch of baits with only 1 or 2 oddballs i might give away.
I did the math and assuming each bag cost $3.50 each which I think is on the low end it would have easily cost over $75.
What do you think?

That sounds pretty good to me!!
Last summer my buddy bought some furniture for his new house at a garage sale. I went back later that night with my utility trailer to help him move it. Over in the corner of the garage they had some dtuff that didn't sell. I noticed some rods and reels (one of them being a Curado 200) so I asked how much they wanted for them. All I was really interested in was the Curado .......... $40 ........ SOLD!!!!! I got a Curado 200, some old Daiwa reel I had never seen before, and two BPS Extremes that I sold on Ebay for $80
For you guys that golf ..... Back around 2001 or 2002 when Taylor Made just came out with their 300 series Drivers. They were HOT!!!!! The country club I worked at could hardly keep them on the shelves. One day I found a head in a trash can at the course. Just the head. Took it to the Pro Shop and put about $60 into it, and sold it for almost $300.
Well, as I always say, the best money I spend all year, is on my fishing license..... about $50, for 100 plus trips, so certainly a great deal. How could one ever complain ? :-)
......but then, to top it off, I became sponsored by Yamaha G3 last year, and so of course I got a very good deal on my new boat, motor, and trailer package...
But here's the kicker ! I didn't even know about this when I got my new Yamaha G3, but anyone who bought a new package from them (at least in 06'.... I'm not sure if they are still offering this in 07') gets a full reimbursement of their fishing license for 3 years !
So my "best" deal, just got even better :-)
Peace,
Fish
PS, To say I love my new boat would be an absolute understatement :-)
Wow, my big deal sucks compared to the big fish around here!
I used to get the old All-Star Classics for 33 bucks a peice.
Loomis imx mbr783 for $50. Looked brand new
My best deals last year were:
1. Shimano Calcutta 251 $35
2. Shimano Curado 201 BSF $45
3. Quantum Energy PTi-20 $80
4. Zoom 6in lizards, any color, $1 per pack
BaitMonkey was happy :)
I also forgot to mention that my reels were brand new and not displays. They just happened to be on clearence.
I got a 16 foot 1983 Hydra Sport Bass Boat for free.
That has been my best deal so far as for fishing stuff.
There was a clearance bin at Sports Authority one time that had Super Spook Jrs. and pop n'/spit n' images for 97 cents. I bought soooo many of those things.
Mine is puney compared to some here but I got some Senkos for a dollar a bag once and some tiki sticks at the same price. I got a St Criox premier for fifty bucks new at dicks last year.
Back in the early 70s I attended a seminar by Elwood L. " Buck" Perry and bought his home study course; it's still paying off today.
I can't think of any off hand but I remember about 15years ago you could get a 10 pack of regular ole round ball jigs for a $1. Now they 3 for a $1. How times change. :'(
Aww. So your the one that outbid me while I was at work. Congrats. Sounds like a good assortment.
Anything I buy from the states is a good deal. Bass stuff here in South Africa is SO expensive. I bought 3 Quantum reels with 3 Bass Pro Shop Reel bags and the Quantum Hot sauce reel oil for the same prize as I would have paid for 1 of the same Quantum Reels here.
But unfortunately my friend that use to stay in the sates moved back here so now I don't have anybody that can collect and ship it for me :'(
I had a guy who was in a mony crunch and he sold me a 7' MH Fenwick Techna AV for $50. Got me started on my Fenwick buying binge....wait, maybe that wasn't such a good deal.
Trophy on a plastic worm. Priceless. 8-)
Assalt jigs on inventory liquidation. This thread prompted me to pick up another 120!
56 Hawg caller spinnerbaits for 9.98 on Ebay
I paid $ 9.00 for a brand new Amb.5000 w/ a 7'0 Berkley Lightning Rod at Walmart. The reel had a tiny scratch on it(which turned out to be dirt that I washed off). The dept mgr of the sporting goods section is a good friend of mine,I might add.
St Croix Legend Elite for Half Price! Normally $320 and I got it for $150. Oh, and my dad just gave me his boat.

Leave your coats with the gentleman at the door!
My best purchase last year was BPS Extreme baitcast reel for $45 before Christmas.
Airrus co-matrix, 3 bagley, 2 classic pattern dvd, and bunch other baits for free.
Also a pflueger president for free.
The airrus is my favorite free stuff ;D. Also I got it brand new, not used, brand new shipped from directly from airrus and ken whiting him self.
The Walmart dollar deals. Every February they have had baits on sale for about three weeks, and they usually mark everything down to a dollar at one point. The problem is every Walmart hits the dollar point at different times, so I have to make frequent trips to check prices. I just hit one about 20mins from my house yesterday that had all clearance baits for $1. I got 4 War Eagle spinnerbaits, 5 bottles of kick-n-bass, 20 bags of Ultravibe speed craws, 10 bags of Lake Fork Tackle Craw Tubes, 10 Norman Deep Little N's in Lavendar shad, 10 bags of Yum Zellamandars, and about 15 bags of Kinami Flash's in Watermelon and shad. I find deals like this too often...my backstock is as large as it is because I can't say no to dollar baits.
Yesterday I too hit Walmart. I picked up some Strike King (SK) spinnerbaits for $2 and some SK 3x lizards for $1. The best deal that I got was an Abu Garcia Record (RCN50) baitcaster for $49 (At BPS its $140). I couldnt believe what the lady said, "Yep, its $49". I said, SOLD!!!!
Wow, yalls walmarts have a lot better stuff than the one in my area does, their fishing section is mostly crap. But the best deal I ever got was from a guy who lives about a 1/4 mile down the road from me. Back when I was just starting to seriously get into bass fishing he would take me out on our 50 acre lake and would teach me all kinds of stuff about where bass hung out, what to throw during different times of the year, and how to tie different knots. He also gave me my first baitcasting rig.
Picked up a Shimano Cruxis reel and All-Star Rod for $40 at Academy. Had a tag that said floor model and was marked at $59, got to check out and it rang up $40. I paid and ran. The reel is normally $89-$99 by itself. Cheaper Shimano, but I really like them for the $'s even at regualr price. Picked up 2 more Cruxis on eBay for $65 NIB which were good deals.
Last year when Shimano changed the curado Walmart was selling the old models for $49.00. I checked about 10 stores in my area and bought five of them. I kept two, sold one at cost to my brother in law, gave one to my dad and sold one on E-bay for $125.00.
I wish that I didn't sell the one on E-bay becaue I would like to have another one. I guess it's OK because I can still get one at about the same price.
about 4 years ago. I noticed that gander mountain had Chonarchs marked wrong in their case a chronach 100 super free for $125 and 100MG for $135. since they were display models I asked if he could nock off 20%. he said 10% so I bought both of them. as he was ringing them up he realized they were maked wrong. Still sold them to me with the discount.
A 17' 2000 model Skeeter w/115 Yamaha. I bought the boat in 2006 for $9000.00. It belonged to my mom. She won it new in 2000, and I am the only person that has ever used it. She finally decided to sell it to me last year.
