I was looking for reasonably priced spinnerbaits ($3-$5 each). Any brand recommendations? I have seen a lot of Terminator recommendations. Thanks.
I have been using Strike King Premier Plus, and the SK Bleeding series for the last few years. They are good quality and pretty inexpensive.
Here is what I have used for many years and I think these two companies make some of the best as far as I am concerned.

I fish both strike king and booyah and I have been nothing but very happy with both including there buzz baits as well.
I use Hank Parker's Classic spinnerbait, Booyah, and Zorro all are around $5
H&H's spinnerbaits and Terminators.
Hank Parker's Classic (3/4 oz) and Hart's Shaker (3/8oz).
Yea, I forgot about the Hank Parkers Classic. I have caught a ton of fish on them. They are great spinnerbaits. I have a bunch of white tandem indiana blade 1/4oz ones that are fish catching fools.
If you have a Gander Mountain store near you, they carry spinnerbaits called Guide Series that are made by Strike King. I have bought some of those for $2.99 and they are well made baits.
I now make build my own...each bait costs me less than $2.00 plus I can build them to exactly how I want them.
BOOYAH! Funny name, serious baits!
My favorite colors are the silver shad and the golden shad! they run around $3.99 each.
Good luck! 8-)
Strike King used to be my #1 spinner and buzz bait choice, but I find the quality on even there top of the line models to be total crap. I have inthe past 2-3 seasons been switching to Booyah and they are now my #1 choice for this type of lure.
For $3 - $5, I like Booyah first and Strike King second. So far from the posts, these look like the favorites in this price range.
My personal favorite is Terminator but are usually a little more than your looking to spend. For that price range I would get the Booyah.
I use the Booyah also. Great spinnerbaits!

Eric is the best and he has good prices and you can totally customize your baits, if you need a odd or funny color notorius to your region just ask and you will recieve! I just got some Talipia colored blades in and thet are sweet! I ordered a dozen in all blade configs for all conditions. Can beat a dozen custom blades shipped to your door for about 65 bucks!

War Eagle and Hilderbrants normally, but since I have had good luck with Picasso buzzbaits, I am going to try their spinnerbaits.
Thanks for all the brand name suggestions.
I am thinking of the following configurations for most lake fishing conditions:
1. 1/2 oz w/ willow leaf blade
2. 1/2 oz w/ colorado blade
3. 1/4 oz w/ tandem willowblade
I was going to start off with a white / chartreuse combo as I am learning to use spinnerbaits. I have read that is the most popular. I also will get a dark color combo for some nighttime fishing. Any other combos I should be looking at. I stuck to the top 3 to keep the bait monkey to a minimum.
3/8 booyah double colorado white chartreuse with silver and gold blades.there are only 3 colors you need in spinnerbaits.white or white black silver combos that look like shad,white/chartreuse and chartreuse.these colors will catch bass anytime a spinnerbait works.3/8 is the most used size.
I agree with dodgeguy about the 3 colors, thats all i fish. For brands Ill give my vote for booyah.
dodgeguy,
are you saying I only need double colorado blades? No willow?
No, well, I hope he isn't. The blades are the key to the spinnerbait, and the skirt color is secondary. Willow leaf blades are designed for flash, and colorado blades are for vibration. Indiana blades are a great mix of the two. If the water is clear, lean towards the willows. Dirty water, move towards the colorados. Then adjust the weight to put the lure in the strike zone at the speed you want to run. Then get the skirt right. Just my best guess... I've never used a spinnerbait before.
I have just started getting into Bass fishing more and trying to add a spinnerbait to my arsenal. I read a couple of books and articles during the winter and the spinnerbait has been, hands down, the most mentioned and recognized lure for searching an area for fish.
The only confusing thing is if a single or tandem blade is better when going through some cover. I have read opposing opinion. One expert says a single is better while another says a 2 blades help cover the hook better.
I understand the basic differences in blades. I may just go go load up on some Booyahs and Terminators. Also, given that most places sell willow/willow and colorado/willow tandem, I may just opt for those.
Heck, I got a buddy who only throws the $1 spinnerbaits from Wallyworld and he swears by them. I got some for the kids and if they outfish me with my Booyahs and Terminators then I will switch!
To add to the blade configuration. I fish willow leaf blades 95% of the time, I just change blade color according to water clarity. Clear water=silver blades, Stained water=combo, Muddy water=gold blades. Now if the water is extremely muddy ill fish a colorado blade but i rarely run into that.
Quotedodgeguy, are you saying I only need double colorado blades? No willow?
no.double willows are a must also.i would say you don't need a colorado willow combo like a lot of spinnerbaits have.
Double willow leaf blades (smooth) 95% of the time
Gold blades 95% of the time
#5 blade in front & #3.5 blade in back 95% of the time
White shirt 80% of the time
Chartreuse/white skirt 15% of the time
Chartreuse skirt 5% of the time
½ oz weight 95% of the time
Stanley Wedge 100% of the time, aint no blade thumps more
Its a good thing they think you only need 3 colors becasut thats all you can buy at retail stores At heavycover there are somthing like 317,000 possible combinations of blades and colors! Willows are a must here and neutral colors like greens and pumpkins, cant buy them in the stores thought.

First of all, don't let anyone "pigeonhole" you you into thinking that you only need this color or that blade. The very nature of the spinnerbait is versatility and variety. My best spinnerbaits in my collection are homemades that I was told would not catch anything on a number of occasions. One of them caught me a 5-fish limit last year that was just shy of 27 lbs! Another example being a lake near me that is notorious for kicking out huge bass in late winter/early spring on the gaudiest, wierdest color HUGE spinnerbaits you can find. My suggestion would be to get any of the ones already mentioned and tinker with them a bit. You may find that making your own spinnerbaits will be the answer. I haven't bought a manufactured spinnerbait in ten years.

and where are we going to put all those spinnerbaits?ROFLMAO!!! ;Dthat's enough spinnerbaits that you would die before you fished them all.
I use terminator , booyah. Booyah has some good buzzbaits as well.
The most popular spinnerbait sold is a 1/2oz, white/chartruese skirt, front #3 silver colorado, #4.5 gold willow. I make my own and have about 30 different colors right now. If you guys want to make your own on Booyah heads there is a guy that sells them on ebay Tony (Cullins hogs is his store).

I use Terminator, War Eagle, SOB, Red River Tackle, and Falcon.
I will also recommend the Falcon Spinnerbait wallets for storing your spinnerbaits. They are very small, and don't take up much space. They have 18 slots that will hold 2 spinnerbaits in each slot for a total of 36 baits per wallet. I have one for clear water, one for stained, and one for dirty water.
Here is my clear water wallet to give you an idea of how the baits go...

SWEET! This is almost as good as building them yourself. I'll have to check them out later, my bait monkey has been very bad lately and is currently on punishment. ;D
I've caught a ton of bass on Strike King spinnerbaits.I also like Booyah and Terminator spinnerbaits. When bassin' gets tough,I'll downsize to an H&H spinnerbait. It has saved many a bad day.
Try Strike Kings pro series. I caught my first bass on that thing and have been catching many since. Use some kind of trailer for extra appeal.
Keep the suggestions coming.
For those who want to temper the bait monkey, try this coupon ($10 off $25) but it expires by 1/31 at Dick's. This helped me load up on spinnerbaits.

I had no problems using the coupon but did rack my brain trying to come up with $25 exactly on each purchase. Also, I think Dick's employees think I am addicted because I have been going down there almost daily to feed the bait monkey.
Also, any good suggestions on trailers? I bought a pack of trailer hooks for when the bass are short striking. I was wondering if any generic grub would work.
Usually I use grubs with double curly tails and chartruse in color. A company called renegade makes good and not too expensiver grubs made specifically made for spinner-baits. They are really soft and boyant which provides great action.
