Heck yeah man ! They usually hit it like a tank! Or right as it’s pasused and you go to twitch again and just feel like hard hit! One of my favorites. Besides topwater of course.. just wish this rain would go away :(

Looks like the bait monkey struck again.

Always hahha such a guilty pleasure . I’m pretty much done for the season as far as buying until Black Friday. I have all the rods I need and baits that work around here. Was my last true setup and glad I got it
You should get some nice logs with those.
Oops, that was meant for log catcher
Temps around here as suppose to rise for the next week so no jerkbaits for me yet. But hopefully the temps will drop and I can go back to yanking on tanks.
Toss out the book, GD. Couple weeks ago, they were killing jerkbaits here in dirty water with temp of 78.
Too many deep diving jerkbaits... You need 10 more shallow diving jerkbaits to balance out your tackle box.

How do you store all of those? I am finding that my regular boxes with all those hooks are starting to break down some of the paint after all these years. Been thinking about Tubing just don't know if I can get over changing.

Last season I started using small rubber bands to gather & maintain the trebles on ALL my treble hook baits - requires an extra few seconds to break out a new bait & then again to secure it back in the box. But it will prevent the tangles mess & most all the hook rash.

First time using a jerkbait I caught 3 nice ones back to back!

I like it! I have done this on my small pack but not in my boxes. Thanks for the reminder will save me some paint!
I need more jerkbaits. I have probably 8ish but only one deeper diver. Not enough color selection either. Honestly I have no confidence in them but that’s because Ives never really dedicated myself to throwing one and just sticking with it.
What water temp would you all say the jerkbait bite really starts up at? I know you could fish them in warmer water but what’s the general rule of thumb here? By the way our water temp here is still at 80-81 ha.

Lol I love this! I actually saw your review on the KVDs on tackle warehouse and had to get a couple. They obviously work

I have always had better times esrly
spring or late fall. Once summer gets here there is tons and tons of weeds and veggies where I fish. Plus I like doing other techniques in the summer, but roughly 38-70 degree temps I would say

Hoping to try them out soon, I usually only used rapala or megabass but wanted to expand to others. Can’t wait to try them for some big greenies or bronzebacks

That's my problem too. Lake is still choked with weeds. Once they die off my jerkbait action will begin. By that time the big girls will be feeding heavily for the oncoming winter.

I have enough baits that catch logs, trees, stumps, rocks, and other assorted underwater obstacles.
Ready for them? Why'd you stop fishing them? A Duo jerkbait has been one of my best baits for the last months and our water temps still haven't fallen below 70.

Don't you find that they get tangled when your up on pad??
I wish I could bring that many bank fishing lakes!! I’ll take about 4 with me. I have a really clear lake I’m looking forward to fishing!

Your pic caused me to pull out a few of my old smithwicks with the big bills....they may get tried here pretty soon. Don't believe they have ever caught a fish. But at one time I carried them everywhere with no luck. Getting stuck on the Jackell 95's....12# line. Tried ten but donated just a few to many.

I hope you catch some. I went out this morning and managed two on the megabass pumpkinseed color. Started getting to windy to fish in the canoe after awhile but it was fun!
Been throwing the Ito Shiner more and more the past 3-4 years. I'll never give up the Vision, but I'm liking the action of the Shiner and the results are just as good.

It's the Female Gill. I picked up three of that color when I was in Japan awhile back and I've been looking for more.

So I’m guessing tackle warehouse doesn’t have it .. I like it though I’ll hsve to take a look next time I get some baits

No, it might have been a limited color. The one below it is the Wagin Oikawa Male, it does very well in stained water.

Thanks for the advice. We get some stain in early fall
TW does have some colors

I have the vision 110 in the kohoku reaction. Haven’t used it yet but looks good
Don't overlook the Duo Realis jerkbaits either. They make awesome baits that don't seem to get a lot of love for some reason. The little Rozante 73 in Neo Pearl has been my best jerkbait from winter until now.
It's been catching everything this fall too.
The purple mist 120 size was really good this year too.

Wow talk about a slab of crappie ! That guy is huge

I was thinking the same thing. I have a strict no trebles near carpet rule. I really like fishing JBs and they catch fish year round for sure, but in warmer water, there is usually a better option, and trebles are often a bit of a pain around vegetation. From October to Mayish, I always have one tied on.

I caught 3 of them that day, 2 made the trip home after I started catching walleye, figured they could join the party since I was already getting my hands dirty. A 16" and 18" walleye for scale. All 4 fish pictured ate that same Duo jerkbait.
+1 on the Duo Jerkbaits! The 110 SP in green smelt has been KILLER. Very underrated baits
I’ve been waiting a few years now for the jerkbait bite... I have never had a good day with them on my lake. I’ve witnessed others put on a clinic all around me. I’ll keep at it...

Keep trying, once you get it down I think it’s one of the more fun ways to fish !
Brings back memories of our 2017 trip to Lake St Clair. Seems like every year there are the old faithfuls that always produce but some years it's either one specific bait or one technique that just outshines the others. I'll admit upfront, I am not overly fond of jerkbaits with smallies. Too many hooks and too much thrashin means the odds go up for me to get skewered. BUT.....in 2017, the last week of May on our annual trip to Lake St Clair the smallies were just going CRAZY over a deep diving Staycee Jerkbait in one color. I became a believer. Of course last trip in May of this year, they wouldn't even sniff it.

You have to come to Lake Erie for prespawn smallies. I know lake st Clair is a huge go to for a lot of anglers but man I don’t think Erie can be beat. 6 hour fishing trips producing 30-50+ smallies between 3-5 pounds! Largest this past spring was almost 6 that my partner caught ! Such a rush

We've been going to St Clair for 15 years. We've got it figured out to where we can find them no matter what the weather. On Erie, bad weather puts you in your truck (other than Presque Isle and the bay)!! We stay in a cottage on Harsens Island and we can get out of the weather on the bays over there. There's no disputing Erie's fishing but it's tough to plan a week and then get foiled by the weather.

True plus 15 years I’m sure has lots of good memories. Ahh I can’t wait for spring already ha. It’s my favorite time of year
