I am found of the Rattlin' Rapala or Cordells The Spot....i have had good luck with the chrome and blue,or the Raplas in the perch finish..
i am a few Bayou Boogie antiques in Bone that work well also.Every once in awhile i like fishing with something that is almost as old as i am.
Red eye shad in sexy shad or sexy chartreuse shad.

This in 3/4 ounce.
Best Six Dollar bait you can buy.
A-Jay
I like the red eye shad as well but i have 3 colors that always work for me which is sexy shad, bleeding gizzard shad, and bad to the bone
1/2oz Red Eye shad in Chartreuse Baitfish.
Just bought the Yellow Perch. Can't wait to try it out this next season!
I have a rapala in the bleeding shad,i like the lip less because there is no setting the hook, they smack it good..i was bass fishing at the edge of some dollar size lily pads when i had something hit that dang lure.I thought i had THE bass...lol...was a flippin bowfin, dog fish what ever you call it your part of the country.Big sob too.Chewed the heck out that lure..

This would be my #1 as well! 1/2oz or 3/4 oz red eye shad in sexy shad.
Jeff
LV 500 for me (3/4 oz) in ghost minnow. A bit expensive but worth it (to me).
1/2oz RES in Orange Belly Craw works fairly well..............although, I bet you could get an even bigger bass with the above mentioned 3/4oz RES in Sexy Shad...
Rapala rippin rap chrome blue 1/2oz & silent version
Bill Lewis Pro Trap 5/8 oz
PTSN521 Toledo Gold
My favorite lipless crank is the XCalibur XR50 One Knocker in the Foxy Momma and Pearl Melon colors. The Red Eye Shad is a great bait too.
Xcalibur XR50K one knocker in Citrus Shad. 2nd would be Foxy Momma
Spro Aruku Shad in Perch!
1/2 Xcalibur XRK50 or XR50 in Ghost, Rayburn Red, Chrome Blue, and Gold/black.
The RES would be a distant second but certainly has a place in my box, pretty tough to beat Sexy Shad.
I haven't used a lipless crank since about 10-12 years ago, that is until last year. Every year this type of thread comes up and Goose52 would post his fav crank with a photo of it in a quality fishes mouth. And this year he didn't disappoint...LOL
So I made it a point last year to start using these vibrating lures again and I'm glad I did. I can not thank Goose52 enough for inspiring me to throw these things again.
Anyway, I haven't come up with a fav yet and I do like the red eye shad a lot, but by far my biggest producer came from Janns Netcraft in Pumpkinseed. It has caught not only some really nice largemouth, but huge Rainbow Trout and my first Brown Trout.
Nice part about it, you add the split rings and hooks of your choice and the cost was pretty reasonable...yes, last year I had to fish on a budget.
1/2 oz. Strike King. RES in albino craw, or Japanese shad.
Xcalibur XR rattle baits - Good, tough finishes, good hooks out of the box.
And I like the Xcaliber rattle baits because they seem to have more resistance on the retrieve than most other lipless baits.
It helps to keep them higher in the water column and still allows you to get away with a heavier model for absolute BOMBING casts.
'Stick to the 5/8 oz. or 1/2 oz. sizes unless you are wanting them to get deep, fast'.
I also think the IMA Rock N' Vibes look the best, but have not used them yet...
I hope they catch as good as they look...
The colors I selected:
Another bait that is causing a big stir on an Ohio dedicated fishing forum is SmartTackle's Flitterbait-2's. (Voted flat out best bait of 2013 for one of the guys)
In his opinion, nothing else he owns even came close to the productivity he got out of this lure. I picked up a complete set.
You should replace the 'clip-on' size 6 hooks. I opted for some red extra wide gap Owner Stinger's size 6 hooks...
And size 2 split-rings...

Just seems like these threads are more fun if you get to see the end results of a recommendation...rather than the theory...
Great shot!
...of course, sometimes the end results aren't what you expected. I was counting down this RES and felt a bump - turns out this little snapping turtle went after the bait on the fall. Cute little guy...

You never disappoint!
love that,never caught a turtle.....
I really like the XCalibur Xr50 in Pumpkin Seed and Tilapia I also like the Rattlin Rap in Fire tiger. These two work the best for me. I have the original Rat-L-Trap but I never fish it which I really should. I also don't have any of the red eye shads. I guess I will have to pick some up if they are really that good.
i caught my personal best on a 1/2 ounce floating bill lewis rat-l trap. the color was orange crawdad i believe. the bass weighed at least 4.5 pounds.
It depends on the time of year and where I am fishing. In the summer I tend to do better on chrome w/ blue back. In the spring natural craw colors seem to work best. In the fall it is the big 3/4 ounce rat-l-trap in shiner color that I use the most. I like the Cordell Super spots for the chrome, and rat-l-traps for the craw and shiner colors.
I think the Lucky Craft LV500 Max in Aurora Black is my favorite. I use several different LV sizes but I think that one is my favorite.
The LV500 Max is a bigger 3/4 ounce lipless crank bait.
For sheer sound, it's hard to beat a Cordell Super-spot.
Does anyone make a suspending version?

Sebile make an oil filled, suspending lipless bait called a Flatt Shad.
As a result of the design, it sinks slowly to 3 feet or so and then suspends.
I have a few but can't report that they have been world beaters.
A-Jay
XCalibur Xr50 for shallow fishing and RES for deeper water fishing(has a better sink)
SPRO Arku shad in "Old Glory," I say this is my favorite lipless crankbait, but then again it is my only lipless crank bait. lol
XR50 One Knocker in Foxy Shad and Bleeding Bream (discontinued). Far outfishes any other rattlebait I own, which are slowly dwindling.

Talonman, I ordered a few of the Flitterbaits to try this year. Thanks for bringing this bait to my attention.
Xcalibur x75 in their version of sexy shad chrome. That bad boy is a beast. I really like their one knockers as well

You probably have enough lures to get by. I think you should devote all
of your fishing money to the new rod,
I'll be different here I like the Yo-Zuri rattlin vibe
RW...you have a good point...lmao...
Had this home made brand called jig fish in fl gator blue/orange that I loved until I broke it because I caught 2 fish at once, thing caught fish anywhere I threw it. My main brand is Xcalibur Xr50 in blue chrome orange, pumpkin seed, longear, and foxy lady
Thing about these so many diff brands all work as long as they are silver blue back and firetiger ..no fav for me i own 6 diff brands but use rat l traps more so .dont limit yourself to one brand

There's a lot of truth to that. My PB LMB was caught on a blue over chrome Academy H2O Express lipless crank !

I see what you just did there, perhaps you need a new one? I'm on the jazz! LOL
Good old Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap, 1/2oz in Red Crawfish. I have caught more fish on that bait than all my other lipless and lipped cranks combined.
