Ok anyone know what the deal with this "coming soon" Shadow Rap?
These marketing guyz sure know how to prep us to spend..
I'll have to look into it. I haven't see anything so far and I was just on the rapala site purchasing some baits last night.
Haven't seen/heard of this yet.
It was on the inside cover of In-Fisherman last issue or the issue before. Just said coming this February if my memory serves me correct.
It's got a mix of the x rap and Maxx raps look to them there nice looking baits not a huge color selection was with the rapala rep and got a good look at them think the third week of Feb I'm hoping to have them sooner have the order in already well find out just how they'll fish iconelli will be fishing them in the classic that's when the release will be and retail out at 8.99
found on a cached page on tackle direct... they were trying to hide it from us

its a jerkbait ... :/ disappointing
It looks like the BX Minnow but with 3 hook hangers.

nothing special.. darnit rapala, make a large swimbait already instead of more jerkbaits
Ya I saw that too it looks like a jerkbait.. but since it may be cheap enuf may try it out
Kinda like a nordic version of the megabass
Actually more exciting than I'd hoped, good looking bait.
Yea, I like it, all except 9 hooks, lol..
Yeah that's actually gorgeous. If they make a 1/8 or 1/4 size, i'll be a buyer.
It looks to have the X-Rap lip, the Flat Rap profile and the BX-Minnow finish with the length of a Maxx Rap. I already like it!!!
Looks great. Ill have to give them a try
Please tell me this thing rolls like Flat Rap and twitches like an X Rap.
Looks awesome!
Looks pretty good. I like the name, too.
Interesting...I can't wait

Found this little tid bit on the old interwebs.
I know nothing of this bait, but I want a few....Shadow rap..has to be good, I just hope they add some new color's to the Rapala line up...I was not so happy with the new Rapala floating minnow lures as I figured I would....I was excited for a 3/4 ounce floater...But it has the action of a 3/4 floater not done right.
Totally new here, but when searching for pics of the shadow rap this site came up. I did ask Ike on twitter if this fell between the Husky jerk and the X rap and to be honest I was stunned that I got the following reply from him. (it's something really special. It's a suspending jerk with a much more sub action. On light flora it actually sinks super slow!)
Sounds like a great early season and cold front bait
I will definatley have to pick a few of these up, I am a Jerkbait Junkie
Looks like they will also come in a deep version like the X Rap, I did a search on flea bay and someone is selling one
Not my photo, its my buddys. https://www.facebook.com/macstackle
I'm gonna need the whole line up as mentioned earlier it's reminiscent of the flat rap... One of my personal favorites. I have a jerkbait tied on all year long and this just adds another weapon to my arsenal.
I hope Ike kills at the classic with it. It looks great to me and you can never have enough jerkbaits.
From listening to Ike talk lately about the classic he sure has been talking up hair jigs a lot. With as cold as the weather is going to be at the classic I think that there are gonna be a lot of guys fishing hair jigs. I am sure jerkbaits and regular jigs are going to be getting in on some action too though.
Dick's has a BOGO 50% off going on right now on all lure's, and they are doing pre-orders of the Shadow Rap under it.

Seems like a good deal.
Why wait weeks for Dicks to get them in stock? I got mine today.

Where did you pick these bad boys up?

Didn't see that in the pic.. thanks!
I need these and I needed them yesterday.
From what I understand the bait is being introduced at the Classic.
The pros will tell us they used it during the tournament.
Not that the caught anything on it; just that they used it.
Stay tuned. The ads will start coming with photos of the pros in the Classic with the bait in the fish's mouth or just advertising BS so we all run out and buy 10 of each color.
The Bait Monkey awaits you.
Hey,
I haven't really been a huge fan of Rapalas tackle, I mean we all have our favourites but this Jerkbait has caught my eye! Great action and a lot of great colours. What do you guys think about it? I'm really liking the Deep diving one (4-8ft). My favourite colours are Bud, Ghost and Albino shiner.

I held one a month or so ago and I gotta say the colors were impressive.
Definitely a cool bait from what I saw.
Rapala sure is doing a good job hyping this thing up. Its just a jerkbait!

I like the shallow version, it could end up replacing alot of my craving for the ever rare Daiwa TD1091SP. The price point makes it even better.
Ill pick up a few and give them a shot
They look like they have a similar profile to a slender pointer and come in a deeper diving version, I'll be trying some.
I picked up 4 of the regular and 2 of the deep versions yesterday from Field and Stream. I must say they look impressive in person. High quality, colors look great. and the factory hooks don't need replaced. Based on the action I've seen of it on Youtube, I'm sure it will catch fish.
Last spring, I did really well on the BX Minnow. I like how this lure is essentially the same concept, but with 3 hooks and it's a slow sinker.
This is the Bud color in a deep version, up close. I was really impressed with this color whenever I saw it in person. I'm curious if putting a hook size smaller on these would make them suspend or slow rise?

Thanks for the picture of the Bud color, I was interested by it but I wasn't sure if it was going to be too bright and now I know I'm getting that color!!! I'm also getting the Ghost, Albino, and Moss Back Shiner patterns, these are going to be really good.
Maybe I'll take some more pictures of all the colors tonight. The carbon color is actually pretty neat in person. I think it will work well in dirty water, or overcast days, where you kind of want the bait to give a "shadow" in the water, for a lack of better terms.
The colors I got were: carbon, yellow perch, blue back herring, purpledescent, blue ghost, and bud. The mossback shiner color looked really good in the store, and I debated on getting it as well. If these end up doing well, I'm sure I'll be picking more up and will grab a mossback.
Those colors are really impressive, Rapala has always been hit or miss for me, Some of their lures are lights out, others I don't like the concept of. I agree with massbass that Rapala is doing a good job hyping up a regular jerkbait, but I am intrigued by the look of quality on this lure, if the price point is good, or if I find some locally on sale I might pick one up to try out.
That Moss Back Shiner color is extremely effective on the Sub walk for smallies here. So much so that it's The Only color of that bait I fish - which practically never happens.
I like that perch looking job there as well.

My problem has always been getting Jerkbaits down deep so I'm hoping with the slow sinking on this it will help keep the bait deep when jerked
I wonder if you took the middle hook off it it would suspend or rise slowly. I always find 3 treble hooks as overkill. If the middle hook was removed would it change the action??? The do have my interest, I guess I will have to pick up one or two.
http://instagram.com/p/zS_uUQO7Z1/ is it just me or does the hook look like it was layed in the fishes mouth.

When I take photo's of my fish I do the same thing so I can see what I caught it on. I set the bait on the side of it's mouth so it turns out good in the photo. Credits: Kevin Bullington

yeah i get that but if you look the hook is not in a position where it can be in the fish. With that being said i could be wrong an actually am rooting for him
Ancient fishing trick. Land the fish, remove the hooks, then place lure so that its just hanging in the corner of the mouth for a quick picture.
I wrote a tweet along those lines where I asked what was more hyped, the '50 Shades of Grey' movie or the Rapala Shadow Rap? It is all over the place for sure.On 2/20/2015 at 1:30 AM, MassBass said:Rapala sure is doing a good job hyping this thing up. Its just a jerkbait!
I will admit that they have my attention. At $9, it's worth a shot, versus what we pay for some of the other jerkbaits on the market.
Looks like another "Must Have" to me.

Wish they had this deal in store, I would have a couple right now. Dick's does seem to be expanding what they are carrying this year:)

Meh its all good lol
If i didnt have a 3700 full to rhe brim with pointers i would give the shadow rap a try.
I mean i liked the husky jerk and the xrap and the shadow rap looks like a mix of those two imo

Tell 'em how the only jerkbait we need in the spillway is a black/gold/orange 2ft diver floating rogue.
But it does look good. I would fish jerkbaits more if we had the clear water to support fishing them. Sadly, that is limited to a couple big reservoirs 3+ hours away as well as some moving rivers that move too fast to fish these.
Cabela's already had these on the shelf so of course picked up a couple. The finish on these lures is really nice for the price point. I'm quite impressed. They look beautiful.
They look pretty good. I've got about $50 in gander mtn gift cards. If they get some in I'll have to pick up a couple.

That's a sweet deal. I would jump all over that if it was available to me in Canada
Since I don't have any jerkbaits yet and these are so popular right now I decided to pick some up got 3 shallow 2 deep.
