seen this question asked on fb and had fun reading the responses. i imagine i fall in the middle of the pack with 47.
Not bags, boxes....
If i dumped out all my totes in the garage and started counting them now it would take me until this afternoon to gat back with a number for you. soft plastics and jigs are all i fish.
Enough too start a business and enough stock to hold me from now untill fall.im guessing 3000 bags ..
Now that I started making my own plastics I would hate to even try to give that number. I guess the difference is now one bag might have 50 baits in it instead five bags with ten. When I use to fish Federation they gave us bags full of sample baits to try. Most of it I never used so when I would get home I had a box that I would pitch them in. Who knows why. I had a large box full of baits. So I separated all the colors and melted them down into baits I would use. The odd colors I just added black and made them black. It was free plastic and kept me busy this winter.
Um... more than I did yesterday at this time. C'mon, spring...
1000's................and that's all I am going to say
Way more than is practical.
It's easier to measure my plastics by the pound. I probably have 1000's of bags.
In not sure,i brought around 100 bags with me to college. I have a few shelves piled with plastics and 8 boxes filled with plastics
What I have would fill Bass Pro!
peg boards and tackle bags full. probably around 800-1000. I really have no idea. So many that I haven used 3/4 of them.
I've got enough to open a small tackle shop.
I probably have 50 bags. I thought that was a lot. I don't even come close.
Probably 5 times what my wife thinks I have.
Just counted. I'm at 21 lol, and most of those are half full. Heading to the BPS Spring Classic sale tomorrow, so that number will change for sure! My wife thinks 21 is plenty lol, This will only be my second season fishing, I'm still trying to build my collection, but am often met with resistance. I need to continue showing her posts like these
Ive got entire boxes dedicated to categories of baits... swimbaits, worms, craws
I actually just told myself yesterday that I wont buy any bags anytime soon
Hundreds. I figured out it was cheaper to make my own, so that's what I've started doing. About a $200 upfront investment and you can make thousands of baits in any color you want.
If youre anything like me, you will get to a point you have so many options that it can become impossible to focus on the details and start wingn everything thinking its a bait or color change away from glory.
I'm going through and trying to clear out ones I don't or haven't used. Luckily, I've gotten to the point where I know what I like and what works for me. I'm sure there will be the occasional purchase outside of that but, BIG BUT, I'm going to try to stick with the winners.
I am not sure but I doubt they would all fit in the bed of a truck?

wow. I have MAYBE 100... and I thought i was gonna be in the middle of the pack
I have too many. But I need more. I have mine categorized by worms, swimbaits, creatures and craws. Probably 25lbs of each. But I saw a few more that I'll pick up next time.
I'd have to guess it is somewhere close to the 4500 mark. Were I to measure it by weight volume, it's got to be somewhere around 1200lbs of plastic.

Thanks - I don't feel as bad about have what I have now - actually seems somewhat reasonable compared to your half a TON . . . .

I get a little sad when I inventory my soft plastics. So many of them I would love to use but don't have enough time to. And I am probably only sitting in the 150-200 bag range. Nice to hear that my problem is insignificant compared to a few of you.

I told myself the same thing earlier this week...I mean, I manage to delude myself into thinking it will work and it never does.
But it might work this time!
Are you my wife? Is this some sort of trick?

x2 on this, I use maybe 5% of what I have on a regular basis. Luckily getting a new boat made me clean out a lot of stuff that I'm just go to donate to a high school fishing club.
I keep the majority of mine in my 17.5ft tackle box. I don't count the bags, just the total weight. If I take anyone fishing with me, I need to remove 100lb. of plastics so I don't go over the recommended max. weight of my boat.
Dude, you don´t have enough soft plastics when you count bags, you know you have enough plastics when you measure your plastics by pounds.
Nuff said !!!
More than I can use in a day!
oooonnnnneeeee biiiiillllllliiiiooooonnnn.
well, it feels like it.
At least one year at a Ivy League college worth.
I have four full racks in the reefer in the garage packed full and that don't count the ones in the boat..hey ya gotta spend the coin on something...
So after all, the question is:
Do you "need" all those baits ?
The answer is simple:
NOPE !
But it sure feels nice to have all of them !
I always thought there should be warning on here when you first enter the site that should say something like "warning! entering this site may possibly have a negative impact on your bank account and possibly your marital relationship".
Whew, thought I had too much (100 bags). But thanks to everyone else I feel much better that I don't have that much...oh wait, or do I not have enough now? Hrm.
46 Bags total...
I'm not gonna count 'em because If I knew, I couldn't honestly tell my wife "I don't know".
Tom
Let's put it this way; If I never bought another bag of soft plastics, I would have more than enough to last me the rest of my life. Will I buy more? Absolutely.

3... I'm just getting started. 1 brush hog, 1 shim-e stick, 1 finesse worm.
Looks like I may have started down a long and expensive road.
Mine and my dad's stuff combined with a lot off hard baits mixed in. 3 walls of a 18x26 building floor to ceiling.assorted totes my closet in the spare bed room at my house if full. Boat storage full. Most of it will never see the light of day. I've got a tackle bag that holds 4 Plano boxes and about 40 bags of plastics. Mostly swimming flukes, money minnows, ultravibe speed craws, finesse worms, beavers, and seismic frogs. Couple of bags of slider worms and zoom finesse worms. One old dummy grenade just to be funny
Too many? Can I say that here?

My man, I don´t even remember when I had 100 bags.
Nowhere near as many as some of you addicts...I'd probably say a little over 150 bags.
Not many in comparison to some of you guys. Possibly around 500 but 2 baits makeup the bulk of that. My favorite 2 were discontinued and I collected them from everywhere I could for the following year. I have a fair amount of hardbaits, not that many. Also a couple hundred of my favorite frog. Had tons of rods too, but sold some and gave some away.

I have 140 bags here in my living room I need to sell just to make some room. So far this year I have sold about $400 worth of tackle and didn't make a dent.

I just went through my plastics the other day, I would say I have about 120 lbs of plastics that I bring with on the boat. i have found about 11 plastics that really produce for me, and I have about 6 colors that I use, so I have been able to reduce the total amount of plastics I carry over the last few years, but my productivity has increased dramatically since condensing. Cant wait for open water...

Too many, and never enough

Plastics weigh a lot once you start to carry enough of them. I start out the season with minimal tackle but going into the fall it has doubled.
Allen
5,318 some may be in wrong packages.
Wow there are a lot of guys on here with small tackle shops in their homes or garages! I always keep the top four or five colors of all the top plastics out, craws, tubes, senkos, etc. so that way I can manage my tackle in the limited space I have to keep my gear. Anything over that I give to the local kids.
Good luck and be safe...
So I sorted out my soft plastics this weekend to determine what would go in the boat and what would be "spares". Also, it was cold and crappy outside so we had a fire going and I did this in the living room floor. So there I am with piles of bags of soft plastics. Filled a large 18x16x5 plastic storage box with craw trailers and flipping craw/creature baits to go in the boat. Then proceeded to fill 3 of the double deep 3700's with senko's, tubes, shakey head worms. Then fill a normal 3700 with lizards. Then fill a small box with drop shot baits. Then fill another large 18x16x15 storage box with soft jerkbaits, grubs and a few ancillary baits. Felt like a million pounds.
That left a large Bass Pro plastic bag full of "spares" that went back upstairs for storage. Ugh, really, I have this much?
At the time I was thinking "wow, this is a bit rediculous". Then I see here...."thousands" and "about 3 thousand" and "a storage room full".
Ok, thanks guys. Now I know the monkey isn't on my back as bad as he could be.
So many i count the pounds. I have so many duffle bags in my bedroom its not funny and i just bought more at BPS sunday....sad but true
