1st Year i could get them to work great for me.
This bait right here...caught more fish above the 5 lb. mark than any other I used this year. Thanks B.L. !!
I should note that this bait has been modified from the original.
I'm going to have to say the Zara Spppk
Rapala Floating Minnow (Silver/black back) and Strike King Double Blade Buzzbait (Super Chartreuse).
Still @ #1 Texas Rigged Gene Larew 7 ½ Salty Ring Worm Cinnamon Pepper Neon/June Bug Laminated (Camouflage).
The Rage Tail toads, I had more fun fishing them than any other bait last year.
Favourite for 08' would be the Fat Free Guppy in Citruse Shad colour.
Close 2nd would be a weightless 5' senko, but not much of a soft plastic person. I rather be casting all day or sitting there and fishing with live bait.
I need patients and concentration for slow fishing.
The 4" Senko and Swim Senko produced the most fish for me in '08.
My favorite bait of '08 was the Sebile Magic Swimmer. It produced fewer fish, but on average the biggest fish of the year.
The few times I was able to fish in '08, the cavitron buzzbait did the job for me (black with red blade). I was loving the rage tail toad too but in those few trips I ended up switching to the buzzbait because the fish would hit it too, and it doesn't have to be replaced every couple of fish. If the grass was too thick for the buzzer, then definitely the toads.
My favorite bait for the year hands down was the King Shad by Strike King, but I caught my most fish on a 1/2 oz Booyah Jig.
Jigs and custom crankbaits.
Well no surprise here-
GYCB Flappin Hog II - color 301 (green pumpkin with green & purple flake) T-rigged with a 3/0 Gammy EWG and a 1/4 oz green pumpkin tungsten weight.
My buddies get ticked when I bring out the flappin hog, cuz they know they're about to get schooled. On days when everyone else was skunked, the hog always prevailed.
2008 was the year I introduced myself to the Lucky Craft Pointer.
Either 78 or 100 in chartreuse shad was the ticket for me.
Not a great year fishing for me in 2008, so I look forward to starting off 2009 with the LC Pointer on some largemouth and spots.
Jigs
Stand up head w/ a Berkley shakey head worm
Homemade bucktail w/ mini pork trailer
Booyah baby boo jig (watermelon red flake) with Yum gonzo grub (watermelon red flake w/ tails dipped in chartreuse spike-it)
Ian
Tossup.
1) 5" Tiki Stick. Pumpkin/Chart Tail
2) Strike King 4.5" Shadalicious. Sexy Shad. Yes Sexy Shad.
My two best are the Senko and the Baby Paca Craw and the Paca Craw!
Timber Tiger DC5 crank bait in Tennessee Shad color. So easy to bring these things through a nasty lay down without getting hung up a caveman could do it. Hard to find but no other bait provides the same numbers, size and FUN that these do

4.25" Yum Vibra King Tube - Green Pumpkin
Berkley Hollow Belly 5" - Tenn Shad
1/2oz black blue jig with a blue 3" trailer.
#1 was a jig. I caught my PB for the year on one. My #2 would be a jitterbug. I finally learned how to work it at night right before the cool weather set in.
Z's custom hand poured 8" spaddle tail worm
3/8 oz Terminator T-1 spinnerbait, silver/blue/red skirt and Gammy trailer hook.
Very close second was 1/2 oz black/blue Chatterbait.
Done good with 1/2oz. WarEagle spinnerbait and GY's creature.
I don't get the Fat Ika, rigged both ways, not a dam nibble. Guess it doesn't work in my neck of woods.
QuoteDone good with 1/2oz. WarEagle spinnerbait and GY's creature.I don't get the Fat Ika, rigged both ways, not a dam nibble. Guess it doesn't work in my neck of woods.
Fish the Fat Ika just like a Senko, same places, same retrieve.
Obviously, this bait has a different profile and different action
which works better some days than others.
8-)
Cultiva Minnow RM-65 golden shiner
I can't really say I had a favorite lure but I can say I have a couple of favorites for 2009:
My #1 is the Rage Tail Toads and Shad
My #2 is a 12" Red Shad/Tequila Sunrise Culprit Original Worm
My #3 is an Enlure Deep Diving Crankbait in Firetiger: I caught my largest of the year on this lure, I paided a total of $0.01 for this lure on ebay. ;D
Rageshad green/cartreuse became my #1 topwater lure.
Bomber Fat Free Shad- not sure of the color name but it is blue and white.
Next is always the Zoom Super Fluke in Albino color-
Senko and similar type worms.
Vision Lures' Honeybuzz buzzbait. Awesome design.
Gotta go with the Ragetail Shad, had way too much fun with this bait in the summertime.
Zoom Trick Worm T-rigged w/ 1/4oz weight. But at the end of the year a Bomber Fat Free shad was working
By far I caught the most fish on a Terminator 3/8oz spinnerbait in Blue Glimmer. I had the most fun though on white frogs thrown on weed mats.
Tied for favorite:
-4" Rapala X-Rap in silver. Best pre-spawn ever.
-Any 4" dark colored plastic tube. Texas rigged with bullet weight flipped in thick weeds.
Yo-zuri Ratl-n-vibe. I have always been a big lipless crank fan but I added this to my arsenal in '08 and all others have stayed in the tackle box.
Yamamoto swim senko
What little bit I got to do this year:
- Weightless senko's
- Rattlin' Rapala baby bass color
#1-Spinnerbait
#2-Shallow Crankbaits
#3-Trick Worms/*** Finesse Worms
Falcon
Lucky Craft Fat BDS Crankbait
