I do not have one yet, what lure can you go out no matter what time of day/conditions/time of year and feel confident it catching a fish?
Soft plastics.
some type of jighead. what is trailing it would depend on the situation. could be jig and pork. jig with worm, grub, plastic crawdad, without a skirt. there are just too many ways to use a jig to list.

I need to fish jigs more apparently......
00 modbug jig
Jeff
Squarebill crank and a Rage Craw
Spinnerbait
My favorite class is jerkbaits.
Dropshot!
or senko
Shakey head and spinnerbait.
dropshot or topwater, especially walk the dog baits
I am going to say a jig also. When I started fishing for bass I liked cranks. The more I learned to use jigs the more I liked them.
30 years ago I would have said a spinnerbait, but I've "outgrown" that, knowing now that there may be a better bait for the conditions I'm fishing. I target smallmouth and love it when the sun is out and the wind is up and the smaliies will come from a distance to smash it - but this isn't often the case.
I'll fish soft plastics rigged several different ways, suspending jerkbaits during early prespawn, cranks on occasion and topwater. I like 'em all when they're producing fish.
I realize I haven't exactly answered your question. Instead I'm saying, "Be versatile." Determine what they want for the conditions at hand.
TopWater or CrankBaits........Jigs are coming on strong though.
Jig or 4" straight tail worm
Weightless trick worm
It´s not my specialty, but I know that I can catch a bunch of fish most of the times in most conditions with a 5" curly tail grub, that and add a good collection of terminal tackle ( hooks, sinkers, specialty stuff like bladed jigheads n´such ).
My specialty is junk fishing, maybe not on an hour to hour basis, but day to day, week to week, during the entire season, I basicly junk fish my way from ice out till now. The list of baits I have caught big fish on is like the TW website.
I'm a spinnerbait and crankbait fan, but I really am trying to learn how to use jigs.
When I'm on the water I'll always have either a jig or shakyhead tied on, usually both.
I mostly fish soft plastics or shallow/squarebill crankbaits. Seems like I catch more on cranks than I do on worms so I guess if I have to pick one, Ill say cranks.
For me, it's crankbaits, T-rigged soft plastics and jigs, depending on where (and when) I's fishing.

Absolutely without a doubt the jig, there is not one place that I can think of that a jig is not one of the first, if not the first, baits in the water for me.
It has become the absolute most versitile bait I have ever used, there is nothing in my arsenal that gets more attention than that of a jig, the T-rigged plastics are now a close second.
I always considered a texas rig just a different kind of jig. Im changing mine to a T-rig, Jig, texas jig...
Power fishing in general. If I had to narrow it to one bait class it would be crankbaits though swimbaits are certainly playing a more prominent role in my fishing.
Finesse presentations, smaller lures, love jerkbaits and pop-rs, my home lake fish cant resist my pop-r presentation..
Swimbaits of all shapes, sizes, and styles. More specifically, soft plastic swimbaits more so than hard baits. I just feel that I can use them more efficiently.
I'll always be a worm dragger at heart though.
Overall, this past year, my fishing success has been average trending toward mediocre. This is despite multiple upgrades in gear, etc. I'd have to say this year that my specialty has been purchasing fishing tackle and not so much using it.
If there is a slight suspicion of a top water bite Ill be working a frog of some kind. I might not always win but I sure have fun.
I love to throw a jig and know I can have some success with it but lets face it jigs arent what bass are willing to eat all the time. Throw a senko and youre almost always going to get a bite.
Im a topwater nut. Just enjoy it more than any other style of fishing. I can and will throw a TW all day (or night ). Ive caught my share of big fish and small fish. Its not about chasing big fish or even numbers anymore. Its the experience for me these days. Hearing the "bloop, bloop, BOOM of a nice bass exploding on a buzzbait is one of the finer things in life
That said I catch more big fish on a jig. And ALWAYS have one rod with a 3/8-1/2 jig ready. Ive also got alot of confidence in rattlebaits and squarebills.
Jig or worms (Senkos, Thumpers and Trick Worms primarily)
When I am bass fishing from my boat 3 rods are always rig just before launching; 1. Jig rod with a hair jig tied on, 2. Swimbait bait rod with a Cross-loc clip tied on and 3. Worm rod brass n glass (3/16 oz ) and 4/0 worm hook tied on. These are my go to outfits year around. I may add a crank bait rod to the mix if prior outings had a crank bite, a spinnerbait, buzzer in the summer or a spoon rod during the fall-winter periods.
I am first and foremost a jig fisherman, however a swimbait is often what I cast first, because any active big bass will strike a swimbait or look at it more often then any other big bass lure. I always fish the same area with a jig, if the area is good jig water or the a big worm or creature depending on the structure and cover. The fact I catch 80% of my DD bass on jigs, not swimbaits or worms, is the reason I spend more time fishing jigs.
However, if I am fishing from shore, my first choice is a big worm.
Tom
I don't like slop, I'm an open water fishermen using lighter tackle for all my species. For me it's a toss up between hard jerkbaits or topwater lures. Fun takes priority over fishing for the "one".
Baby Brush Hogs
7" Rage anaconda followed by a Bleeding shad Red Eye Shad. Those 2 cover most all the water column AND theyre my 2 favorite baits.

Im gonna have to make me a few of these. I like that short stubby skirt.
Soft plastics here. Mostly Zoom Finesse, Senkos, BPS Stik-O's.
I wish I had a specialty!!!
Last year jigs were very productive for me. This year that hasn't really been the case for some reason.
This year, it'd be crankbaits of all kind.
At any rate, there's always a jig and crank tied on one of my setups.
theeeee Jig
Jig/Rage Craw
Jig or t-rigged baby brush hog. Also I have been trying to learn to be a better crankbait fisherman and am starting to really love it.
I cant put the jig down its my go to iv gotten good at it even here in Kuwait I have a bass jig like that one and am throwing it catching grouper. One of the guys in my platoon seen my last grouper with a jig in its mouth and asked if I ever throw anything other then a jig lol and nope I really don't at least not very long. Used to be the fluke now now its the jig and im fine with that
For the past few years, I have caught the most fish and the biggest fish on two classes of lures: jigs and lipless crankbaits. I feel very confident fishing these lures as well as some others. Having said that, I think there is always something to learn no matter what lure I am fishing and I never think of myself as having a specialty, or being an expert at any of them.
"Specialty" might be pushing things a bit as doubtless there are lots of people who could fish circles around me with either set up, but my two largest bass (6 lb 3 oz's and 7 lb 4 oz's) have both been on Rapala Glass Shad Raps. The bait I tend to catch a lot of bass on (with a fair number of good-sized fish too) is a texas-rigged ChiggerCraw. If there are hungry bass in the area, I can usually coax some to bite this.
Bought a bunch of jigs last month! Going to try to learn how to fish them. Y'all seem to be doing so well with them.
For now, it's shakey head, Jeff Kriet Squirrel Tailed worm......always have one tied on.....sometimes I just fish that one rod combo all day.
Second would be Space Monkey on Moaner Stroker keel hook.......that's always on another rod.
Specialty, lizards. I cant deny, I love a topwater bite and will work the lizard as fast as I can sometimes to get a fish to hit the surface with the lizard. They work better below surface, but wheres the eyegasm in that?
Some have said that I drag a mean tube. lol
Over my tournament "career" I have won more $$ on a tube than all other baits combined.
Oddly, the last few years I have not used a tube as much as I used to.
Can't say I got any go-to specialty. I have 20+ rods rigged with 20+ different lures and pull out the ones I think will work best for the given weather, water, and season. I can flip and hawg tie bass out of inches of mud and dropshot em' down deep if need be and everything in-between. Heck I've done both of those things on the same lake on the same day.
Frogs
Soft plastics, jigs and really been doing well with chatter baits
What's my specialty? Probably my most versatile tactic is a spinnerbait followed by a jig. I can do nearly everything with those two baits. Both have won a tremendous number of tournaments and a pretty fair sum of money annually.
Any time, any place, any conditions, any depth: tube.
The ones for me are..
Wacky rig
Chatter / Spinner
Soft plactics
Mike
Frog
A senko. Lol.
Wacky Rigged Senko or Z-man Finesse Worm on a drop shot!
Black and Blue chatter bait , when things get tuff in spring and fall. 1/8 oz. to 1/2 oz. wacky and flick shake worms. Summer soft plastics: space monkey, chigger craws.
JIG
Shaky Head or spinnerbaits
square bills
fluke jr and 4" roboworm straight tail. if i cant get bit with those, i go home.
All bottom contact baits both larger and finesse as well as weightless soft plastics. I don't do as well as a power fisherman minus spinnerbaits.
It seemed like this season - I was using the perfect baits and techniques to land mostly average fish.
Didn't really matter what it was.
Same tactics produced much better quality in previous seasons.

My best one this year was texas rigged soft plastics. I seemed to catch more fish on a 10" motor oil colored worm and a Zoom speed craw in blueberry. The speed craw caught my biggest which was a 5lb + this spring.
Shakey Head or a jig/pacacraw
I don't know if I would use the word specialty but if push came to shove I'd either throw a soft plastic or crankbait, depending on where I am.

This on a dropshot, except it was a twitchtail instead of a fluke.
texas rigged worms or grubs on a leadhead
I fish T-rigged Baby Brush Hogs about 95% of the time.
I catch the vast majority of fish any size, any species, on in-line spinners. From roooster tails to larger Mepps, I will never hit the water without throwing an in-line at least a few times.
Jigs would be my second choice.
