Does Cabelas host a similar event with a big sale?
LC RC 2.5 Wakebaits (x2)
Lake Fork Tackle- 10" worms and Tube Craws (6 bags total)
Jewell Eakins Jigs (8)
Red Eye Shad in Chrome SS (2)
Plus it inspired me to reorganize my tackle in the garage for about the 12th time since Fall. I've got to get out of the house and to the lake. One more week!!!
Quote^^can we say crankbait fetish???
LOL. I used to be a hard core jig guy, but now I fish with cranks most of the time. I like to have a variety and try new cranks and cranks other people have had success with on this board. Hence, the Daiwa, Xcaliber and Yo-Zuri Drum lipless cranks.
I'm heading to my closest store in Portage, IN next Friday. We have a few guys going... There's going to be a lot of money and points spent!!!!
I've got over $200 in points and already have about $400 spent in my head. This could get scary really quick.
Well since i have a BPS about 30 minutes away i did decide to stop in and see what kind of deals they had. there were a few things on sale but no sales on anything i was interested in. so since i bought some crankbaits prior, i had to buy a *bigger* tacklebox to hold all. so i did get a BPS bag style tackle box that was on sale for like $25 compared to $40. I will go back on the 6th of March, they are having a few seminars that id like to see. so we'll see then what hops in my cart ;D
I was planning on going tomorrow, I had plans to go tomorrow for the past 2 weeks! Now I find out I can't go. Such a bummer. Jimmy Houston and Woo Daves were gonna be there. I may hit up BPS later on and I plan to get a BPS 7'0 medium crankin' stick then pick up stuff that is on sale.
Set out to get a new rod.......
paid 60 bucks for the KVD signature series 7ft. MH...found a way to spend another 80...
trailer hooks
drop shot hooks
2 packs kinami "senko" style worms (awesome by the way)
20lb XPS flourocarbon-ONLY 11 BUCKS!
new weigh bag
2cycle oil
few other things...Definitely didn't plan on spending the 140 i did...
I went to the one in Foxborough, MA since we were already down there, had to force dad to stop haha. Picked up a nice Daiwa Megaforce 100TSH Casting Reel. They had them for $59.99 on sale since it was the classic. Sits quite nicely on my BPS crankin' stick I bought has year!
Went to Foxboro BPS yesterday picked up 10 LC R. Clunn 3" wake baits, at $11.44 a piece, these were a no brainer for me. Also stocked up on frogs, top water baits, and rage shads.
Waiting for the day to pick up some Quick Silver oil from Mercury. I think it is on March 12th.
Met Rondef and justcrazy4bass plus Sydney Bass at the Richmond BPS which was super.
Took pics of Ron and Jason with Woo Daves and Teddy Carr. Hope they post them on the site.
I picked up some coffee scented Rage Tail baits.
Otherwise, I am set for this year, other than for the two G. Loomis rods I will be getting later this month.
Sam, Jason and I enjoyed meeting you and talking to you at BPS yesterday. Thanks for taking the pictures for us, we really appreciate it.
I picked up a Kevin VanDam Signature Series (KVD30A) spinning reel, 10lb XPS flourocarbon line, Stacey King finesse jigs, XPS Laser Eye shallow crankbaits, drop shot weights, coffee scented Rage Tail Lizards and Lobsters and some Strike King Red-Eye Shads.
We attended Woo Daves "Shallow Water Worm Fishing" seminar which I felt he did a great job explaining and demonstrating his techniques. At the end of the seminar Woo did a Q&A session and right before we left Woo signed a new BPS hat that Jason bought.
Here is the picture of Jason, Woo Daves and I.
Here is the picture with Teddy Carr Jason and I.
How is the BPS in Richmond? Is the Richmond store usually stocked pretty good?
I have been there three times and I have almost always been able to find what I was looking for. Yesterday they had all but two items that I was looking for.
I am going tomorrow as the weather here in Central Fl. Is BAD....... 60 degrees with winds 15 to 25 gusting to 35.. AND 35 (thirty five) degrees tomorrow morning.. About all I need are Zoom trick worms, I'll get 10 bags of watermelom seed, 10 of watermelon seed red. then look around but before I leave will pick up 10 more bags of watermelon seed...
didn't go saved my money for ***

Spring Great Outdoors Days biggest show and sale of the year. It starts March 3rd. WWW.CABELAS.COM
I went to the BPS in St. Charles on Saturday morning. I wanted to get more jigs, and maybe some different trailers. I ended up only buying new fishing license for 2009. The place was a madhouse. I am planning on going back after work one day this week.
I went to BPS Friday night in Baltimore, and I'm kind of low on money at the moment, but I managed to get a pack of Berkley 7" power worms(blue fleck), a Spro JR. frog(just started to get into froggin), a black/blue jig, and a pack of chigger craws(3").
Btw, it was my first time in a BPS, and I was blown away. I must have spent 4 hours in there with my roommate walking down every aisle. I gotta go back sometime this march before fishing really heats up.
I have never been to a BPS store, I guess the closest one is Cincinnatti which is three hours away.I am only eleven miles away from the Wheeling Cabela's though and it has a good selection of fishing tackle. Their sale starts March 5th. Actually that place is too darn close I spend all of my beer money there.
Went to the Rossford (toledo), OHIO store yesterday and got to see Hank Parker and KVD. That place was crazy-busy. The Pros started at 12, so when we showed up at 11:30 we had to circle the parking lot of 15 minutes to catch a parking spot. It was great to see KVD and Hank up there giving tips. That place was a little too crowded for me, you could barely walk down the aisles. I managed to get out having spent just over $100, stocked up on eakins jigs, paca craws, rage lizards, and a couple xr50s.
Rapala Clackin' Rap

1/4 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12

I was thinking about going Saturday also , glad I didn't! Guess I'll try later this week.
Well I got some jig heads, quite a few actually. I can now say after being at the Harrisburg store 3 times, THIS STORE IS A DUMP! Especially compared to the Cabelas in Hamburg.
The staff at the reel counter were not that well informed, ABOUT BPS REELS, they would not honor a catalog price for another customer i saw arguing with them and the store was poorly stocked
The catalog does offer a good selection of some nice products, particularly their house branded reels but I am more pleased with Cabelas, by far!
Rained all weekend but did get there on Saturday. Too bad cuz I like to take the kids fishing out front.
Got Paca craws+chunks. Rage Lizard. Few finesse jigs+swimming jigs. Few shakey head jig heads. + a kids tent for my kids. They were all out of the TT and Spro little swimbaits also were out of the sebile swimmers.
I behaved for the most part. Been stocking up all winter so my tacklebox is overflowing at this point.
Can't wait for a warming period so I can start tearing up my new baits. I need some room.
I went saturday to the auburn ny store and picked up:
2 bass pro woo daves extreme rods for 70 instead of 100
plano water proof storage box 25% off
strike king spinner bait
rage tail trailers.
I think im gonna go back and take advantage of their buy 2 things of flouro get one free
You are all so lucky. I couldn't get a ride down so I have to order off the internet :D I got a St. Croiz 7' MH Mojo Bass rod, 5 Lunker Lure rattleback jigs in green pumpkin and a rapala mini 50lb. electrical scale.

I may be wrong, but I doubt the guys working the reel counter have the authority to price match. That customer would be far better off going to the customer service desk and asking them to take care of it. I've never had them refuse to match their catalog or online prices.
I watched a guy get a price match on a Daiwa reel advertised locally for 12 or 13 bucks less than BPS, by the manger that was the same one who gave the guy trying to get them to match a price for one of their own products, from their online division a hard time. I was trying to find out service information and had to wait on the same line, so I was watching what went on.

I keep trying to find these hornets! the BPS sales guy didn't know anything about them and I searched without any luck. What section of baits does your BPS have them in?
I have been to many Bass Pro shops including the headquarters in Missouri and the Richmond store is quite good. The store is twice the size of the one in Hampton Roads and well stocked. They didn't have an Extreme 7' MH rod on the floor but they had one in back and immediately retrieved it for me. I also purchased:
Johnny Morris Signature Series Baitcaster
Tru-Tungsten Baby Bass 4" swim bait
Senkos
Gamakatzu hooks
Horny Toads
Tru-Tungsten bullet weights
Camo 15lb braid
Livewell screen
Then I went to Greentops and bought
Trickworms
Roboworms
Matt Lures Baby Bass
The wife freaked out when she saw the receipts! But she did tell me to buy myself a birthday present before I left!!!! I am doing my part to stimulate the economy!
I went back today and picked up a few more things.
Lucky Craft RC 3.5DD
Lucky Craft RC 2.5RT
1/8 oz shakey heads- 7/0
1/4 oz shakey heads- 6/0
I haven't been to the Classic yet; the only thing I need is more Beaver Bugs. The BPS Beaver Bug is lumped in with all the other generic beaver imitations, but it is totally different. It's a cross between a beaver and a tube; a gliding tube if you will. This thing dominates...especially in Roadkill. It's one of those baits that works so well you want to send some to everyone on the board just so they know what you are talking about. The new Tube Dart has my attention as well, and I will be buying a few packs of them as well. The Tube Dart is basically a Vertical Lures Tube-X with twice the tenticles. Anyway....Cabelas is competing with their own sale, but it is their HUGE clearance area that emptied my pockets. I bought like 60 pointers and countless Spro Aruku Shads.

Just curious, but whats your job that allows you to afford all that!? You had enough different line, scents and stuff to last you a lifetime!

I'm a banker...I make a middle class workin' mans salary. If you know me from the forum, you know I am the bargain hunter extrordinaire. Shopping constantly is the key to great deals. I was going to buy a new rod, but the opportunity to buy a bunch of pointers at 70% off changed that. I'll probably sell them on here or ebay them. Even the Scents like Bang and Kick-N-Bass....we're talking $1-$1.50 each. When you find them at that price you buy ALL of them.

Makes sense. Can't beat 70% off. Thanks for sharing!
My pic of the pointers I scored is neat and all, but I would seriously heed my advice and buy some beaver bugs. I'm tellin' ya...it's like Roadwarrior talking about the fat Ika (granted I'm sending him some beaver bugs, so we'll see how they compare). I use Reaction Innovations Beavers as well, but that Roadkill Beaver Bug dominates.

The Memphis BPS has them in the same section as the small soft
swimbaits. Last weekend I was in Columbia, MO and they "didn't
carry" Hornets nor had anyone ever heard of them. I found them
on a stand-up display, randomly placed on the row with soft plastics.
They only had 3/8 oz so I bought them all. Now they really "don't
carry" Swarming Hornets!
:
Thanks for the heads up on the Beaver Bug Natural. I do very well with the Sweet Beaver and just about any soft bait in the roadkill camo color. Guess I better get an order off to BPS.
Two new ram mounts for my electronics. They were not on sale though.
Made my trip to the BPS Classic over the weekend
My purchases
1 KVD Quantum Spinning reel 20A
2 KVD Heavy Cover Swimming Jigs
2 Norman Crankbaits
2 Lure Wraps
1 Pack of Tube rattles
1 Garlic Scent Dip it
Some 4/0 & 5/0 hooks
I think I'm done til I start losing things

How do you rig them?
I got to meet Jimmy Houston, what a great guy! He was totally into any question about anything fishing and could not have been more informative. Everythig we asked, he took us right to the aisle that was sold at and then explained why he would modify a given lure or pick a different bait then explained why it worked for him, without any pushing of his own product. I thought he would try to push whatever he is sponserded by but he just is into fishing. What a great moment!
Didn't stick around for much of their demo's and such. The place was packed. But i did Conn my wife into letting me get my new Boat Seats . Got 2 Passenger /pilot seats and 2 1/4 circle ones for fish in ... regularly 160$ walked out for 102$ ... Saves me more money for a bilge pump!
7'3" carrot stick with a pro qualifier left handed super high speed for C-riggin only paid $45 for the qualifier and its this years.
I was at the Olathe store on Sunday and got some micro cranks, couple of jerk baits, couple of packs of soft plastics, some tungsten weights and my big purchase was my new Daiwa Zillion BC. Can't wait to try this baby out!

Similar experience at the Harrisburg BPS: Online sale of BPS Swimbait kits $39.99 vs in store price of $59.99. I talked to the tackle guys (one said customer service would match and another said i had to bring in a printout of the sale from the Website). Went to Customer service - they refused to match the price - called the tackle guy to the counter and he treated me like I was the a55! I went home and ordered online. Irritating. >
I got absolutely nothing on sale instead i walked out spending $300 on the Hummingbird Fishing buddy the 140 model(the color) portable depth finder for my jon boat. And some Spiderwire Ultracast 100% floro. Then i had to get out ASAP, didnt even look at anything else

I browsed for a little while today, but found very little that interested me. Picked up a couple KVD spinnerbaits in Bluegill and Smoky Shad, a Strike King "Midnight Special", and one lonely little Bomber Flat A.
Well.. went to BPS today for the Spring Classic and picked up some pretty good deals...
I was walking around and had a pack of YUM plastics in my hand and one of the pros were walking around and said all YUM products 1.98 today.... and I said everything??? he said yep all YUM plastics
SO here is what I got:
YUM ribbontail redshad worms
YUM Dinger Green Pumpkin/Chart tail
YUM Buzzfrog
YUM Wooly Bug
YUM Wooly Hawgtail
each pack was $1.98!!!! most of these are 4-5 dollar packs.. anyway I get to the front and they ring up regular price and the manager comes over and says these are not on sale, but go ahead and give them to him for that price..... anyway.. the guy in the YUM shirt was telling everyone that price and people were getting baskets full of YUM stuff for 1.98 a pack... the manager got on the radio and called back there immediately.... apparently there was a bin with YUM stuff that was on sale, but not all YUM products!!!!! Wish I had more money I would have really racked up....
anyway also got this stuff:
(2)ZOOM Horny Toad Hooks
Gamakatsu Shiner Hooks (I use them for wacky rig)
XPS Drop shot weights
Craw Rattle Trap
Red Eye Shad (Sexy shad) (Sale for 4.44)
Strke King Pro Model Crank (sale for 3.44)
Bomber Square A (sale for 2.44)
KVD Swimming Jig
Spro Bronzeye Frog
Got all this stuff and the YUM stuff for 50 bucks...
Also picked up a Berkley Lightning Rod-SHOCK with the split grip for $44....
Overall a good day

Lol "honey go and try this shirt on...take your time, I'm going to go look at, a couple of things" ;D
I went to the BPS in Las Vegas while I was there. I got a pic with Edwin Evers, and a hat autographed. I also got a new Lowrance color fish finder for the bow of my boat. I wanted some Netbait Paca Chunks but that store apparently did not carry them. I even printed off the price of them from tackle warehouse to try to get a price match. > I watched a couple of seminars from Edwin Evers, and they were good. It was fun.
I ended up restocking my jig collect, I got everything from swim jigs, to finesse jigs, to football jigs. Primarily the black & blue & PBJ. After last season the PBJ is one of my fav's. We ended up having all walleye guys at our BPS, so that was a little disappointing.
I purchased
Plano Line Box
Red Eye Shad
3 Bags of Zoom Ol' Monster
2 Rolls of Sufix Line
Waiting until the 3/14 to get a Quantum Accurist PT for $ 49.95. It will be become my new frog rod setup reel.
Got my son some more BPS type baby clothes. Can't start them too early ya know.

I won't be buyin too much new freshwater bass tackle this year :-/. Oh well, I have more then enough anyhow :-[
