Suffix 832??? 2024

fishing user avatarfsuboy99 reply :

I wanna get some at dicks later is it better then power pro or should I just stick with power pro ahah and if power pro is better then suffix 832 then what color should i use for large mouth fishing

fishing user avatariabass8 reply :

it's a matter of personal preference. i like suffix 832. moss green is a good all around color.

fishing user avatarCgrinder reply :

I'm running yellow with a leader. I dig it.

fishing user avatarMediumHeavy reply :

Sufix 832 is pretty good, but prefer PP Super 8 Slick. I use 30lb in yellow and color the last few feet with a green sharpie.

fishing user avatardodgeguy reply :

sufix 832 is the best braid made bar none.i have used a ton of braids since 1993 so I know of what I speak . I would put 50 lb on a baitcaster and 10 or 20 on a spinning rod.i use moss green with no leaders.

I tried it on your advice. This is GREAT braid.

However, I have had the opportunity to use Kanzen and like it better,

especially in some of the lighter lines.

fishing user avatarArv reply :

I use regular power pro and 832. I cant really tell a difference when im fishing. The 832 might lay a little better on the spool, but not so much that I can really make a solid case for one or the other. I use whatever green color they offer

fishing user avatarCapt.Bob reply :

All I use, 832 is my choice.

fishing user avatarrockchalk06 reply :

I used it for one season and really liked it. I ran 30# and no issues what so ever. My only complaint was the noise. I am probably too picky about it, but I preferred the Power Pro Slick for less noise.

fishing user avatarClackerBuzz reply :

i like hi viz yellow PP w/ a fluoro leader b/c I can easily see the yellow braid run sideways during a side run bite.  never had any issues. was going to try Super 8 until i saw this guys review.  i'll stay with PP or might try 832.

fishing user avatar5fishlimit reply :

I've used both PP and 832,and I prefer the 832 because it seems to hold up better against the zebra mussels I have to deal with in Lake Erie. Both are good braided lines though.

The 832 is a bit noisier like rockchalk06 says, but I'm OK with that.

fishing user avatarSirSnookalot reply :

Just about every major brand I've used has proven itself for my kind of fishing.  It's mostly PP as I can buy it anywhere at any time of the day.  I don't worry about the strength as most major brands are breaking 40-50% over the label, knot holding ability is something to take notice of, a double wrapped improved clinch holds like a vice.  I use 10, 15 and 20# lines, works well for fish that I target.  Just given the few different preference opinions on this thread alone, I don't see how any claim can be made that one is the best, it's only line.

Dodge,

How did your experiment go with FC on your spinning reel?

gave it up. back. to 832.tired of wasting money on line.sticking with 832 and no leaders.less line issues and I don't believe fish are line shy.over years of fishing I have come to the conclusion they will either bite or they won't.

fishing user avatareinscodek reply :

I prefer 832 over Slick 8 but they're both pretty good..

My setup with Slick 8 shows frays and my 832 setup much less so..

Not a bad video.  I was wondering if he was going to try a different braid.  I would much rather he had held the Performance braid in the same manner as the Slick 8 for a more realistic comparison.  Obviously the Performance did much better, but should have done even better yet if he had held it with the same tension as PP.  And  the Performance was older line.

no way 832 is noisier than old powerpro.

fishing user avatarTeam9nine reply :

Use them both. Have a couple reels spooled with 832 right now, and several more with PP. Both work fine - can't go wrong with either. However, I lean toward PP overall. Haven't been able to completely put a finger on it, but something about the way 832 handles/fishes that I just haven't got comfortable with yet. Might just be me...

And color is irrelevant in most cases. Use whatever you prefer; something bright if you're a line watcher, or something smoke, red or green if not. In most instances, the fish could care less.

fishing user avataraceman387 reply :

I bought a box of 832 a couple months ago because walmart was out of the regular power pro in the 10# size.i  personally don't notice much difference between the two except the 832 was a few dollars more a spool.I have to admit i am not too anal when it comes to things like fishing line so for me i am happy with using the cheaper power pro.

fishing user avatarchase102798 reply :

I like 832 Ghost for everything. I color the last couple feet also with a marker but I use a black Spike it garlic marker the night before. The line then fades to a nice ugly reddish brown that matches lake bottoms nicely. Works well in fairly clear water grass also. I tie FC Sniper leaders to spinning and baitcasting in really clear open water. But it has to be really clear and open. I have not had a problem with this braid coloring in most water conditions. I think the white ghost is very visible above water and more hidden than yellow under the water. Plus no coloring wearing off on stuff.

fishing user avatareinscodek reply :

Lo Viz Green is best for stained or murky waters but those colors wears off the line too fast..

If yer worried about braid visibility, use a fluoro or mono leader on 832 .. make sure the knots are strong tho.

I think visibility is an issue with braids so I toss on a fluoro leader.

On one of my setups, I have straight 832 50# with no fluoro and when I toss subsurface swimbaits, I usually only get bit on entry..

that seems to tell me somewhat that the fish may see the braid and get shy after initial entry..

fishing user avatarKDW96 reply :

Both PowerPro and 832 are great lines. And 8lb green mono is just as visilble as braid.......................

i'm new to bass fishing .. so take this for what its worth.. i tried as a recommendation from the owner at the tackle shop, its what she fishes.. it was ok.. but i keep trying & i have yet to find anything! my buddy that is teaching me says basic triline.. i have had nothinig but problems out of the last 3 spools.. i finally got a good spool and have had little problems. sometimes i thnk its just todays makert & poor qualitiy control. i have not figured it out.... 832 seemed stiff to me, but it was strong stuff!

fishing user avataraceman387 reply :

I have only tried the 832 once and it was a little stiffer than what i usually use (reg power pro) but it got more pliable with use.I have nothing negative to say about the line.

I've never used the super slick. I'm comparing the 832 against regular PP.

To me, and my ears, the PP is quieter. Why is this such an issue for you? It's my unbiased opinion whether you agree or not.

fishing user avatardodgeguy reply :

because regular pp is one of the noiseiest lines ever made and I've never heard any one say this before.then again I haven't fished a veritas rod.also the noise people hear is mostly from the line guide on the reel and not the rod.

Only to some, to others it is a good thing. Just a personal choice, handling, strength, abrasion resistance, are the reasons I choose 832, noise is no more than others as far as I am concerned, but if it was all the other benefits you get are what make it my #1 choice!

fishing user avatarSirSnookalot reply :

I haven't noticed much if any noise using an "outdated line" or problems with excessive abrasion.  As long as the line holds a good knot and holds a good fish, that's all I need it to do.

more noise - more friction. I hate it and i'm a braid lover.

fishing user avatarmikeeasttn reply :

I have used several different brands of Braid and settled on the 832 and have been pleased with it.  I use it from the 30# up to 80# strength as I fish mostly swimbaits.  Using the 30 and 40# 832 I can use smaller low profile reels such as the Zllion for throwing the small to medium hard swimbaits and the larger Hudds.

I use the moss green without a leader.

First off your response isn't about what my post was concerning. I clearly highlighted in red the portion of your post I disagreed with so I'm not sure how you missed the point.

Either I'm deaf, or I just don't give a hoot so it don't bother me. But I don't find regular Power Pro to be noisy, rough, or anything else people complain about. I have used all types of braid. 832.....bleeds it's color faster than Power Pro, and costs a little more, didn't impress me enough to justiy switching. Spiderwire stealth ....this one makes serious noise, and the only braid I ever used that tore up rod guides. Spiderwire Ultra cast.....while braid in general is not very abrasion resistant, this line was the worst in that area. I swear silk string was tougher.  Fireline braid, and Seaguar Kanzen were both duds, not impressed at all with either, I found both to be way less stronger than other brands of like lb test. Kanzen has been the only Seaguar product I have ever been disappointed in. I was all set to try some Power Pro Super Slick, until the best frog fisherman I know came in with a zero one day during a tournament, claiming they lost a good bag because of multiple...........MULTIPLE break offs in the slop with 65lb Super Slick, they were not happy, and I have been reluctant to try it since then. Regular Power Pro, has been, and will be, the best bang for the buck in braid, and will be the braid I use for the foreseeable future.

oops , my mistake . I still believe most of the noise if from the line rubbing on the line guide. if you listen carefully you can hear it. if you use reels with different material line guides with the same braid you can hear they have different noise levels.also on a wide spool reel you can hear more noise when the guide is all the way to one side compared to when it is centered.

I disagree. I have a Loomis with recoil guides and fishing braid on that rod makes much more sound than the same reel and line on a different rod. I'm not saying the line guide doesn't make some noise, I just believe that 90% of the sound is the braid running through the rod. The fact that I can move any reel I own to the Loomis with recoil's and it becomes instantly louder than any of my other rods proves my point in my mind.

I have a johnny morris elite with recoil guides and it makes the least noise with braid out of all my rods.the only noise I get is from the line guide on that setup.

Same experience here with Seaguar kanzen 15# I used, very weak braid line broke under 10#. Weak also describes their customer service.

I don't notice or care about the noise.

And when braid, 832 is my favorite. Also I've noticed that the color retention seems a lot better now.

Maybe in my head, but it seems the green doesn't fade as quick anymore.

I have 20# 832 on a spinning rig.  It works fine.  It may be "more modern" with gore and 8 strand carrier braid, but I don't find it performs any better than Power Pro I've been using for years.  I do like the bright yellow/green for line watching.

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

I fished the 50lb 832 for the last week.  I liked it better than any braid I've used so far.  I'll be sticking with it for some time.

fishing user avatargravestone reply :

I liked the video. Not a bad test IMO. I basically had the same results as him when I surfcasted. I never used PP SuperSlick but did use reg. PP. The Suffix had better abrasion resistance than both PP & Fireline. I never used the 832 but I believe i'll give it a go next time I need to spool up.
