Whats Going On With E21 & Carrot Stix?? 2024

fishing user avatarChristian M reply :

This week I had a Carrot Stix Wild snap below the first guide while casting a light spinnerbait. I came home and called e21 & no amswer, all I got was a general email. I decided to email and the email immediately bounced back saying the email address is permanantly inactive!

Thank goodness I saved my reciept because my only recourse was to go back to Dicks where I bought the rod last June. They only gave me $67.40 toward the rod, so I ended up getting a Shimano Cellus. There was only one Carrot Stix on the rack & it had no price on it.

Is the company bankrupt? Does anyone know what's going on? I'm not the only one who this has happened to...

fishing user avatarlmbfisherman reply :

I've read on other boards that trying to get a warranty replacement/repair is very difficult.  The way people are contacting them now is by their facebook page.  I'm not surprised though with all the problems they had.

fishing user avatarrockchalk06 reply :

Do a quick search here and there are a bunch of people that have had major issues with them. With all the issues, I can't believe stores are still stocking them.

fishing user avatartstone reply :

The only form of contact I found that works is Facebook. Even then their warranty is a joke. They wanted me to send credit card info through an email ( really?) to pay the $40 or whatever it was to replace my rod, plus I would have to pay to ship it to Canada.

fishing user avatarHogsticker reply :

Rabbits

fishing user avatarTeal reply :

I said it once, Ill say it again.

Silly kids, Carrots are for rabbits!!

fishing user avatarHooligan reply :

E21 has been purchases by another company and they are in the process of changing everything over. It should make it easier, in the long run, to get warranty and repair items taken care of.

I have their updated contact info at work, if anyone needs it, shoot me a pm and I will get that for you.

fishing user avatarChristian M reply :

I already took mine back to the store explaining what happened and thankfully they gave me $70 store credit. When I looked there was only 1 Carrot Stix on the rack, looked like a return. Got me a Shimano

fishing user avatardodgeguy reply :

classic example of a company that was so promising and then totally blew it.

fishing user avatarDiggy reply :

Best recourse is to buy the extended rod warranty for 11 bucks from whatever store you buy from if you like the rod. At least you can get an extra year plus over the counter service if you choose to do so. I noticed gander tossed e21 rods out of the store last year.

Much different from your ABU experience @ Christian

:cry3: Abu customer service is so beautiful

fishing user avatarNaterwedge reply :

I broke a wild myself over the weekend. 7' mh spinning rod, throwing a 1/2oz red eye. Casted fine, reeled in the last 2 guides. Can't seem to get a replacement myself, forced me to go back to baitcaster :)

Totally p***** me off, I loved that rod!

Or buy a st croix that has a 4 year warranty or even a lifetime warranty. The rod eventually pays for itself.

I am glad this topic is on here. Things change and E21 Carrot stix is now under a new company a new owner a new everything. I am one of those who was in your shoes as well. Mad upset and trying to figure out what happened to carrot stix. The past is now the past the damage on the name and the brand has been done. There is an old name Carrot Stix and now under new ownership new products seeing negative comments on every post!   enough was enough I used to say I wish they "E21 Carrotstix" would listen but they would not listen! With just a little time and patients and a new start! WE ARE NOT THE SAME COMPANY THAT LET US ALL DOWN, as dodgeguy said it the best .......promising and they blew it. That is exactly so true. We are looking over everything and changing everything. I live in TX. not over seas, I am a former BASS top 150 Angler , I am a professional fishing guide. I have seen what was wrong with the former Carrotstix company. As we put together the new company and new products. We have the NEW Carrotstix brand changing everything everyday. We are fisherman we are designers and WE WILL LISTEN.

fishing user avatarGrantman83 reply :

Hopefully you guys can undo some of the damage done by the previous company. I remember reading that carrot stix were bought by (I think) a chinese conglomerate. I noticed they introduced a few new lines of rods. Hopefully someone takes a chance and we begin to see some positive changes and a turnaround like kistler was able to do

As poor of a reputation that the company has now, you might want to consider changing the name at least a little bit so people know it's not the the same ownership.

The name will not be changed, we are looking into everything we can as a new company to help the previous customers

Thank You for asking that we had a very long coversation about that yesterday. We bought the name and we have considered what to do to make this right for owners who bought from the old company.

right now that is a very good possibility to help and find the registered owners of those rods.

If you can please just bare with us as we are NOT the same company. We have rods that work perfect.

I have had every rod from about every manufacturer I have broke many and I have been denied or had to pay a fee to try to get a new rod

Would you be more happy to get one new rod or would you be better off knowing the new series and line we have will be fully honored with a superior rod and know that now if you have any problem it will taken care of, better yet we know with changes are product will be the best out there. You will NOT have to worry now about youre rod and negative comments are rods have and will be the best.

fishing user avatarChoporoz reply :

Seems to be a rather confusing message.  You are keeping the name, so you must value it and the 'goodness' that was earned by the old regime.  At the same time, you don't seem willing to make amends with those that have been harmed by that same regime.   I'm not in manufacturing, nor in sales or merchandising, so I'm rather ignorant here....but it seems to me that there are words coming out both sides of the corporate mouth.

fishing user avatarDirtyDeuceGoose reply :

As a national account sales manager you would think there would be a certain level of grammatical correctness in his posts.

Yep, I thought the same thing.. Only differently, lol

Seems like a New Rod company & starting New, would be a better option, went to the site, checked it out, very limited info on exact details, on blank construction, exact guide manufactors , oh, and same crappy hook keeper, doesn't seem very new to me, check out the warranty aspect, a bit improved there, while reserving the right to still request a full rod ship back @ $40+ ... No disrespect meant to Carrotstix, However, seems like double talk to me too.

sounds like you're not as ignorant about retail as you think  :D

fishing user avatarbuzzed bait reply :

aside for you, the national account manager, saying it is a different company, how is it really different?

same logo, same copyright (1996-2014), using the 2007 iCast awards as a callout, owned by chinese company in shenzhen (aforementioned chinese conglomerate).

just not seeing a whole lot of differences myself.

having owned an e21 carrot stix rod previously, i can say that i was not impressed and for the money one can find MUCH better rods today.

fishing user avatarEmersonFish reply :

I would not want to be the one charged with repairing the image of 'Carrotstix.' That is a tall order. But if there are, in fact, new people "at the helm" so to speak, I hope they can get things in order. Competition in the industry is good for everybody. If they are set on keeping the name, they better find ways to make it clear to the bass fishing community that things have changed and they deserve another shot at our valuable dollars.

I suppose they could send me a set of their complete lineup of rods and if they are great I will make sure everyone knows about it. I'll even wear an e21 hat while I'm doing it. You gotta start somewhere.

fishing user avatarTrippyJai reply :

Makes you wonder if the company is actually under new ownership. A simple question was asked whether the old broken rods would be honored and a long confusing answer was given. It's best to stay away from this company. I don't see anything that has changed and if it really has, I don't see the effort.

fishing user avatarMontanaro reply :

No sense in buying a fragile orange stick.

Fix the blanks and then the orange can once again be cool.

Thanks

Guess I got to just eat the "Carrot Stix"

Can anyone suggest a decent baitcaster combo for around $100.

Happy Holidays

fishing user avatarcamsdad122712 reply :

so how do I get a new e21 carrotstix? I am very disappointed in this rod and im hoping it was just a factory default. I was having a good morning fishing caught five small largemouth bass and over a dozen bream. I got snagged and gave a couple tugs to try and break it free and the rod snapped about a foot down from the tip. this was the first time I used this rod and it shouldn't have broke after a couple jerks. ive googled warranty information and it just keeps bringing me to cabelas, academy, and bass pro. where do I bring it or send it for my warranty?

fishing user avatarcamsdad122712 reply :

yep, im with you bqtow. guess I just have to take the loss. found a 1 800 number for carrot stix and they try to get you to sign up for all kinds of junkand at the end of it they say the number has changed. I called that number and its more advertisement. I will never own another carrot stix.

fishing user avatarplumworm reply :

You can all dip your Carrot stix  problems  in ranch dressing and enjoy.

I have owned three different Carrot Stix for a number of years and have never had any durability issues.  I am happy to hear the company intends to continue manufacturing & distributing their product.

fishing user avatartstone reply :

They're going to have a very hard time fixing the reputation Carrot Stix has. Why would I buy from them again given my horrible past experience when there are so many other companies that are proven to have better rods and customer service?

fishing user avatarMontanaro reply :

Get a pro to do well with carrot Stix and their reputation will improve. Until then they have a stigma.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

I have had a couple of the Black Wild Carrot sticks for a few years now, a 7' something MH that I use for soft plastics and a shorter 6'9" one that I use for spinnerbaits/chatter baits.   I haven't broke them yet.  I would point out that I am not hard on my rods and I carry enough rods in my day to day fishing that no one rods sees that much action.

One of my fishing buds bought several of the carrot sticks and he broke them all.   He is harder on his gear than I am.

fishing user avatarpennix5 reply :

i have 5 carrot stix wild black series rods for 2 years now fish them heavy havent had a problem yet

fishing user avatarhatrix reply :

Last weekend at Gander Mountin I had the guy working there try to convince me that I should buy a carrot stik. He was like following me around telling me how great they are and that's all he fishes. That's fine and to each their own. They could be a great rod but they are definetly not on my list of rods I am interested in. I actually had to tell him to give it up and just go away. It was weird.

fishing user avatartomustang reply :

Maybe he drank too much V8

fishing user avatarFryDog62 reply :

I think a marketing campaign to talk about the upgrade in materials and manufacturing, sign on a prominent pro to use/endorse the product.... and back it up with a warranty like St. Croix has - and it may sell again ~

fishing user avatarCaptainJerry reply :

This is what's happened this was last posted. A new owner, Jimmy D., has taken over the whole business. He settled all outstanding warranty issues and handles all warranty and customer issues personally. The company is no longer E21 either. Carrot Stix is an independent business. I use Carrot Stix Rods for both my tournament angling (bass and redfish) and charter business out of Charleston, SC. When you do this for a living you have to have dependable equipment and a dependable company backing their product. The new ownership has brought Carrot Stix back from the brink of disaster with new confidence in their customer service, new quality control methods and new products. Hook'em all. Captain Jerry

Yo, Captain Jerry....curious as to why Boyd Duckett is featured on your Pro Staff page.  That's quite a coup for you if he's gone back to your rods over Ducketts.  Especially after he basically trashes your company on his own web page.

You guys still don't get it even a little bit.   I cannot, for the life of me, fathom why you're trying to crack this market --- the flaws in strategy and execution are painfully clear to us here on the sidelines who aren't even in the business.
