I'm looking for a quality line in the 10 - 12 lb range. Don't use braid, usually only clear or mono. Any ideas? Just tired of getting medium sized spools that don't last long.
Yo-Zuri Hybrid
Izorline
Sunline Super Natural or Sunline Defier Armilo Nylon Line
I have not used the Armilo yet, but it comes HIGHLY recommended
by several members. It will be the next line for me to try.
I've read a lot of posts that have people using yo-zuri. Is it that good?
I have been a fan for more than a decade. Most guys like it, some don't.
Spinning gear: #6 = 11.9 lb breaking strength
Baitcasting gear: #12 = 19.5 lb breaking strength
I assume you have a roll nearby. What's the diameter of the #12?
P-Line CXX in 10 lb.

I've used P line and was not impressed at all. And I was wondering. It's the same diameter as the 10 lb I'm currently using.
CXX and YZ Hybrid are pretty similar handling lined. If you don't luke one, I think you'll be disappointed on the other.
Well, one is a completely different manufacturing process. P line is fluoro coated nylon. And it's performance in my local waters was horrendous. Then again, yo-zuri may be the same. But I know the two are manufactured in two different ways.
I recommend the Sunline Supernatural Mono. I use it in 10 and 12 lb all the time and love it. Since I'm not sure of all the rules here, if you PM me, I can refer you to a site online that sells 660 yd spools for under $14. They also sell 3300 yd spools for $60.
Well, I'm just going off what the website states. And no, I'm sitting here looking at the box of 100% fluorocarbon P line.

No, it is a bonded fluorocarbon/ nylon blend. It is not coated.
Finally a line that makes a difference!
Our goal of developing a new revolutionary fishing line was lofty – make a line that was stronger, more abrasion resistant, more sensitive and more durable than any nylon lines on the market. Hybrid is the first and only fishing line that molecularly bonds nylon and fluorocarbon during extrusion. The result is a strong, dense new material that we call Hybrid. Hybrid takes advantage of the awesome abrasion resistance and sensitivity of fluorocarbon, while utilizing the flexibility and stretch of nylon.
I was too lazy to correct him on that. The link you gave clearly showed the process.
Yup, I love the stuff ( Yo & Cxx )
Ummm, yeah that's all nice how they're made. What I stated was they both handled similarly. You don't like one, you'll probably not like the other. I used my own experience to get at this opinion, not website marketing.
Is that BPS in just your area or in all of them? I'm making a trip and I don't want to just run up there for one item.
I plan on it
No deal. Only saltwater leaders. How good is P Line's mono? They've got them in 3000 yd rolls. They also have copoly.
What do you mean "mono"? They don't make a nylon mono. All their lines are copolymer, fluoro, fluoro coated, or braid.
It may have been a copoly. I'm currently away from the computer screen that it's still pulled up on.
BPS P Line CXX Xtra Strong Mono. Google P Line mono and it should be the first BPS site that pops up.
Izorline XXX is also pretty good
I looked into it with no luck. I prefer not having to order off the internet. I was shaking because it took a week for rapala to ship my lures. I hate remission.

I'm pretty certain p-line cxx is a copolymer. I've used it for a few years, it's strong but does have some memory especially for the first dozen or so casts of the day.
I'm thinking if going with the sunline super natural and CX premium.

You mention this line quite often. I think I am going to try a spool.
Hootie
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't 10lb CXX have a breaking strength of 22lbs? I use to use CXX but it had a little to much memory for my liking
Trilene Big Game #10 & #12 are great lines and the price is very reasonable.

I've got a roll if 15# for backer line. Wasn't impressed because it's a massive diameter compared to more modern lines.
Hootie, I have been using P-line cxx forever on all my crank, spinner bait, etc. reels. Trent is wrong , it is a co- poly line and has a great strength to diameter ratio. Not only that, it's "durn cheep" A 600 yard spool of 10 lb. is about $18 at most shops.
Not wrong, misinformed. I can only go on what the website says.
You would be better off with Izorline XXX , it's strong and doesn't have the horrific memory of Yo-Zuri hybrid and P-line CXX , you will like it a lot , cause if you decide on Yo-Zuri or CXX , you might want to buy one of their big spools cause you'll be changing line after every two or three fishing trips ..
Sunline Defier Armilo is a very nice line, but costly. I'd highly recommend it but it doesn't come in a large spool that I'm aware of.
In the bulk spools I like Big Game, Stren Hi Impact, and Mustad Ultra Line.
I can't seem to find either sunline that's mentioned. Guessing website purchases in my near future?
I get mine at TW.
How long is the shipping? Like I said earlier...I was almost shaking I was so anxious for my rapala shipment to get here. That wasn't even a week.
Pay the $5 and it's 2 days.
Ok. Big question. Had some p line fluorocarbon on my rod about 8 months ago. Wasn't impressed because no line memory was basically a lie. Even with conditioner, it still tangled. Almost as bad as when line isn't spooled on correctly. Should I give fluorocarbon another chance or go mono/copoly with a fluorocarbon leader when needed? Keep in mind this will be used year round with no line chance until necessary.
Braid/ fluorocarbon is generally a better option and VERY cost effective.
I don't do braid unless I'm fishing Guntersville.
So, it's either gonna be sunline or cx. I can't make up my mind.
I'd go with the Sunline. Just Feels that much better.
I use either Big Game or YoZuri.
Which Yo-zuri?
If you go with Sunline, check out xtackle.com.
Ok, I've come to a conclusion that a trip to BPS isn't a smart idea, but it's happening. I'm getting a new Carbonlite and I'm wondering if I should just break down and get fluoro.
