I am between these reels. Which of these reels do you prefer? I am using a Duckett Micro Magic. which one of these companies has the best customer service?
I own the bb1 and many of the curados . I like them both the same performance wise. I've never needed to deal with either companies customer service, so I couldn't help you there. Though I will say I can vouch for the shimanos durability. The lews are newer but I feel like they will be fine in the long run. A lot of people say the diawa is nice as well.
curado I
Do the different kinds of breaks make a difference? Do you have to open the cover to change the breaks on the curado?

It's a matter of preference. Any of these reels will serve you well. I have a Lew's Tournament Pro and I just got a Curado I. With the Curado I, it features the SVS infinity braking system with an external adjustment for further "fine tuning"
Yes and no. I have my breaks set on the the curado I and never touch them. There is a dial at the bottom of the reel that can be adjusted.
I did like the external braking system on the Revo SX, but I did not like their customer service.

How do you like your Tournament Pro?
Amazon. You could get a tatula for 100 dollars. Thats what got me to buying one over the 170 dollar curados.
How do you like that Tatula? I've been debating going with one of these or the Lew's BB1 also I got 2 Curado I's very pleased with them. Just want to try out another brand got 6 shimano's and no problems but I'm looking to try something different. On 3/13/2015 at 6:41 AM, A KGB Operative said:Amazon. i hust got a tatula mmyself but debating selling it. sorta big for my hands. palming isnt as comfortable for me as my curados. hate to let it go tho it feels like a great reel!
I'm not sure personally. I never used it yet. I'm 6'2 and I have pretty big hands. It doesn't feel too big at all.

How do you like your Tournament Pro?
It is an awesome little reel. It can throw lighter baits pretty well. Feels light and comfortable in hand, and is very smooth. No complaints here.

You can find Curado's for $144

Is the Curado good at throwing lighter baits also?

I just got mine and haven't been able to fish with it yet so I do not know, but I'm sure it will with the right rod. (Assuming by lighter baits you mean the 1/4 oz range)
You may want to let other's chime in before you make your decision though.

To answer your question Yes.. Wouldn't go lower than 1/4 but yes it does..
throws 1/4 ounce baits just fine.

How do you like the brake system? Do you have to open it up or does the bottom fine tuning work fine? On my Revo I mainly kept it on one setting, but I did change it time to time on the water.

Where at?

And for the braking system you can get away with setting two and forgetting them. You'll just use the side adjustment
I have it set with two and adjust the dial as I go. I like the braking system very much.
I have narrowed it down to the Curado 200 I and the Lews Tournament Pro unless someone has another suggestion. Also is the tourney pro the best Lews for the price?
id go with the curado. i had a TP and didnt care for it. i like the curado MUCH better. just my opinion tho. lot of guys love the tp
I am a fan of the lews reels as well and will tell you that the bb1 I own is an excellent caster. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either. Tackletour has some good reviews on all of them if it helps you narrow your decision. You'll be pleased either way you choose to go.

What will you be using this reel for? If you want a long lasting, powerful reel I'd go with the Curado because it has X-Ship which will help extend the life of your reel
What are you going to be using the reel for?

I am going to be using it as my number one reel. I have one other combo, but the reel is very cheap and I rarely use it except with an Alabama rig. I want the reel to last a long time. I'll be using it for most all applications. I heard about both companies having good customer service, but I guess it doesn't even matter if the reel doesn't break.
My opinion would be to go with the tourney pro, has enough line capacity for most bass applications.
If you eventually get into buying specific setups, I don't throw cranks with anything other than a BB1
Anyone have one of these on a Duckett?
If you are going to put this reel through some serious work I would go curado. Lews are great I have used them for quite awhile. But when I went to Okeechobee and fished there for 10 days for a college tournament they started to slip and wear down. for jigs, spinnerbaits, cranks etc. lews will be fine. For flipping heavy cover shimano is the way to go. Overall I think they curado is a more durable reel
yes the curado has a great easy to setup breaking system
I have a Tatula, and Curado I, which took some monkeying around with to get working right. I'd go with the Tatula for light baits. As they say, $.02
I have both the BB1 Pro & the Curado I.
Both are awesome, well executed reels. You honestly can't go wrong with either, so hold them and see which palms better for you.

What do you mean by slipping? I am just wandering if that is what my Revo started doing.
If anything was "slipping" inside a reel you'd know it and it would not be usable. If the drag is slipping, that's what they're designed to do, so unless it has lost power there's nothing to worry about there.

The spool was not spinning on mine. I ended up selling that reel and thats why I am looking for a new one.
A lot of reviews say that the reel sounds grindy on the retrieve. Have any of you had the problem with your Curado?
thats likely just from being overgreased from the factory. when i took mine out of the box i could hav sworn there was sand in the handle. fished with it and it smoothed out

I haven't had my Curado I on the water yet but I've been throwing 1/4 oz spinnerbaits a good distance with it out in the yard...It's a sweet casting and feeling reel. I paid $142 for mine on Ebay...can't beat it for that money in my opinion.
No problems with gindy gears here.
The Curado is 1 ounce heavier than my Revo. Will the rod be to bottom heavy? Right now the balance is about 2" in front of the reel.
just get the curado u will b glad u did.
Agreed. You'll be happy with either of the two. Just do it.
Curado
I'll give it a try. Will let ya'll know how it works.

It got to where when I set the hook it would make a terrible a sound and line would peel out. Drags are supposed to give but not like that! but I will say this I have a 2nd generation revo stx, the one with the gold spool and that is the baddest flipping reel I have ever owned, but the new ones don't seem as well made anymore at least that's what I have heard

O.K thanks. I just got my new Curado in about 5 minutes ago. Loving it so far. Will let you know how it does on the water.
