I went to Gander Mt. last night and picked up the 7'6" flipping stick. I absolutely love this thing, if I could marry it I would. I am about to leave to go to the lake in about an hour or so I will let you guys know how it did.
I have the same rod. Simply amazing. My buddy tried mine out for a few mins. and was hooked as well. Amazing a 7'6" H can be so light! Enjoy it.
I'm glad that when I said how amazing they were last year and how they are comparable/better than Croix and Loomis everyone said BS, and now most have fallen in love with them. ;D
I haven't been keeping up. As I recall there was an issue
with guides and reel seats. Is that resolved?
8-)
the only ones i have are the 2nd generation gold stix, there are no issues with guides or reel seats on mine. The 7' xh is my flippin/jiggin rod, and sports heavy braid, no prob there. Awesome sensitivity. The 6'10 MH is my big worm/creature rod. Runs 15lb fluoro and no broblems there. both have daiwa 153hsta's sitting oh so plush in the reel seats, and even with them being larger profile reels there is has been no fitting or slipping problem.

Just got my drop shot carrot stix original spinning, I am very pleased. Caught 11 bass on Sat and 21 on it on Wed. Very light and sensitive. See no issue with reel seat, but the guides are not my favorite. The guides are pretty much designed to be lightweight. ( I have the same guides on some of my ultralights). As they say "you can't argue with success". It is a little tip heavy, just added a 2 oz carrot weight to help balance it.

I hear the issues are with the regular sticks(cheaper parts)! My bros flippin sticks reel seat came apart when he was hauling in a 5lb hawg from thick pads!!! >
Careful with those gimmick rods. My cousin's sister's boyfriend's uncle said his shattered when he set the hook on a half-pound perch.

The first two guys in the state right here. 8-)

hahahahahaha excellent remark! most good!
I also don't know what they big deal about their guides are. To me the guides are the same as any other quality rod and they look secure and strong.
But will they will they hold up in the loooooooong run!?!
They really look like they will, I could be mistaken but they look and feel really strong and secure.
Welcome to the club 8-)
I keep hearing this over and over again. That this rod is as sensitive as the more expensive Loomis rods and St. Croix rods. So I figure at $150 it is worth a try.
So which one for fishing jigs?
Later,
Are you talking about casting jigs, football jigs or are you talking about flipping jigs?
Sorry, Football and some swim jigs.
Thanks,
Does the 7'6" rod telescope like many? I was looking at one BPS online and couldn't tell.
QuoteSorry, Football and some swim jigs. Thanks,
I use the 6'9" MH 1/4-5/8oz. I like it. I like it too much :-X
JVM...No, it does not.
I bought one about a month ago, and I feel its the best rod I own. So light and sensetive and yet strong.
Go with what Fishing Priate said for your Football and Swim Jigs.

I've heard the "look cheap" comment many times already and have yet to have problems. I can understand people saying they don't like the looks of the guides (cosmetically), but to consistently hear that the guides are junk is just an opinion, imo. I haven't heard of one instance of the guide/guides causing a problem, and at that, A couple of bad experiences still wouldnt' be enough for me to say the guides are junk. There are some who don't like the Croix Premiers because in their opinon the Batson guides are junk. I haven't had any problems with these either. Maybe I'm just lucky.
The reel seat issue is new to me also, never heard that one. The seats on my Carrots are AOK, for now anyways. The only problem with the Carrots that many didn't care for was where the hook keeper was located on the early models.
Yeah, I also don't like where the hook keeper is located.
Anyway, I finally get around to posting a picture of it:
I just about cut mine off after hanging my line in it trying to pitch a Reaction Innovations beaver thing. Every 3 to five pitches it would hang and my bait would fly about 15 feet in the air and about the same distance from my target. I decided Id wait untill I can get my dremmel cutter out on it.
Hey I haven't thought about cutting it off, thanks for the idea I might just try that. It doesn't look to strong so I might could just do it with scissors. What do you think?
I have never had a problem with my hook keeper. In fact it's perfect for drop shot rigs!!!
Like I said mine will occasional hang up when I let my line go when I am flipping. I pitch more than I flip so it shouldn't be to much of a problem.
I have a question about the 7'2", medium parabolic casting rod. Even though it's labeled a medium powered rod, the lure rating is 3/8-3/4oz. How well does this rod load with a 1/4oz crank?

I have the 6'9" parabolic and it loads up fairly decent with lighter cranks. I would think the 7'2" would be even better. I normally keep the Revo winch on this rod but as Micro often mentions, the extra line capacity doesn't allow for the longest casts you can get. Last week I threw on the Patriarch and made a few casts down on the river. Between the load up and cast, it did great. I'm still in the market for a rod to throw the lighter ones though. Thinking about a Premier glass rod. :-/
I just came over to the darkside and fished with my new stix. 6'10" MH. Currently I am using it to flip beavers and chigger craws and I love it. Have it paired with a daiwa Sol. Not an exact color match but very light. I do have questions about balancing a rod. I have never done this. How do you do it and why?
I just came home from BPS with a second Carrot Stix. I have a 6'10''MH Gold paired with a Daiwa Sol for cranks, a bit limber for plastics for my tastes, and now have a 6'9''MH LTX with a Pflueger Patriarch 64LP.

That Carrot/Patriarch is killer. 8-)

Mine have taking a ______ pounding so far and have no issues. And if they break, send them back. :
BRR, you really dont like the 6'10MH for contact baits, i love mine, for worms and creatures, that bein said i dont use anything heavier than 3/8 on it as i do feel its a little more M than MH.

I like it ok for contact baits but it makes a helluva crankbait rod. The action, I feel, is a little more mod-fast than fast.

I am no expert on the Carrot's but I do own 2 of them. I think over all the Carrots' actions are slower listed.
PitchnKid has got me dieing to try on of these now. He has all Carrot sticks baitcasting and spinning. I fished with him and Jimzze on the roadtrip and Pitchnkid was in the middle. Despite this he easily double even tripled us up. It got to the point were we all had the same jig and the same JJ's. Yet Pitchnkid was still crushing us out there. It really made me wonder if I was missing some bights.
Right now I us a 7"2 Team Daiwa light and tuff rod for my jigging and worming. It's light but I wish I could add weight to the back to have better balance. A long day of jigging with even a light rod can add up. I wish I would have asked to try one out to see what I thought. It's tough to spend 150-200$ for a possible upgrade.

They acctually take some time to get used to because you swing on a lot of things you have never felt before.
I just got a deal on 5 brand new carrot stix !!!!
7'6" H 130$ , (2) 6'9" MH 107$ for one and 115$ for the other, 6'9" M cranker 115$, 7'2" M dropshot rod 115$ all shipped together for 15$
I also got 2 kistler argons on the way too.... man im gonna be set !!!!
I watched a guy and his young son checking them out today. They both spent some time smelling the rods before they moved on. It was pretty funny to watch. I was tempted to ask if they smelled like carrots....lol. ;D

That's funny right there. Why on earth would they be smelling them?
Probably just curiousity on the youngsters part I suppose. I would imagine I wasn't the only one smiling at that if others saw it too.

Yep, These are great rods and you will feel alot more things with the carrot!
just got a 7'xh from basspro shops , was debating on a carrot stix or a shimano cumara 7'2'' mhxf , needless to say i got the carrot stix . i think this rod will be great for frogs and deep diving crankbaits ( i love heavy action rods)
just bought a gold series 7' med mod-fast haven't fished it yet, very, very soon
Phenomenal rods, light, sensitive, just have a differrent feel. Did not like the hook hanger on the original ones but if I could get rid of my Avids I would probably go to all Stix.
I hear a lot of talk about the hangers but personally have not had a bad experience
QuoteI hear a lot of talk about the hangers but personally have not had a bad experience
Saturday was about my third outing with it so far and I have to tell you I hate the hook hanger. Every time I made a flip and there would be slack in the line it would caught in the hook hanger and it was very frustrating. I am seriously thinking about cutting it off, I don't use hook hangers a lot anyway.
