I just thought it would be interesting to see some responses to this question. I have 5. :-[
My buddy has 31.
Used to have 18, now I have 10.
I have 5 rods that I take with me, I have 3 or 4 others that I rarely use.
I think more important then the number, is the quality. I'd rather have 5 good rods, then 20 ugly sticks ;D (Not saying your buddy has them, just making a general statement)
I have 5 also. 2 spinning, 3 Baitcasters.
Somewhere between 20-30. Don't keep a count.
I have 10 that I currently use and another 20 that have been retired over the years.
7 baitcasters
3 spinning
5 fly
I used to have alot more, but have given away, donated, and sold several. Like Brokejw, I figured out I preferred quality over quantity.
I've been through so many I couldn't possibly count how many I've ever owned. But currently I have 5 I use all the time, 3 spinners and 2 baitcasters.....and one of the spinners is an Ugly Stik Lite Pro ;D. Then there's one more that doesn't have a reel currenly, and one more spinning combo that I never use. When I have a rod that stands around too long unused I tend to give it away or sell it in a yardsale. Mostly give them away though. To friends and family so they can go fishing with me.
I've got 16 reels and only 12 rods. I don't buy combos per say...I like to mix it up.
QuoteI've got 16 reels and only 12 rods.
You need 8 reels more.
I need two more reels, only problem is I can 't decide which ones I "need". :-/

A little OT, but I'm serious when I said I was going to buy some of the new '09 Citica E series reels...I like the look, stats, and price. Casting should be identical to the Curado, due to it having the same spool and spool support bearings. The Citica has the same 5 bearing setup as my Cores, and they are smooth enough. I'll probably buy 6 when they are released. It's going to be nice not having to worry about scratching them
Counting fly rods and Musky rods, over 30 I'm sure.
6 Spinning
4 Baitcasters
4 flyrods
no Ugly sticks
Currently I have 14 rods.
At one time I had 22 hanging in the shed, and reels for each, grant it most of these were my surf rods in which those were custom made. They were made in the early 80's all the way up to the 90's. My fresh water gear too was custom and I still have and fish with those...the others consisted of a couple St Croix UL's, and BPS's.
All the reels were Penns, Garcia Ambassadour's,Shimano's a Lews Childre BB-25SS, I loved that reel till it got stolen out of truck... and a couple older Daiwa's thrown in the mix.
I have 10- 5 Good Baitcasters, and 5 Pleuger Presidents on basically the same rod, but different weight lines, etc....
More than that for me would be hard to justify in the budget.
Peace-
Jamie
When i moved here 3 weeks ago i had 55 rod and reel combos ,Im gonna down size saturday with a yard sale
More than I care to count; somewhere north of 100 rods.
(4) Baitcasting rods
(2) spinning rods
The actual number is unimportant... but the answer is "one less than I need!" Ever notice how even when you have enough, you can always think of one more you need?
QuoteMore than I care to count; somewhere north of 100 rods.
Thats amazing.....
I have 20-30 but only use 10 or 12. the others stay at the Lake for friends and such.
I have 11, only three of which see regular use.
I USE six setups...two spinning and four baitcasters. I tried to match up each set-up with an application. (cranking, jigs, finesse, spinners, etc.) I have a few more that sit on the wall. But the Bait Monkey could grab me at any time to say, buy a reel. And then the reel needs a rod, and...well you see how it goes!!!! ;D

Wow. Sounds like pencil pushing is a good business to be in.
I have 6 rods. My boat is not big enough to cary more than that.
Let's see, I have 6 bass setups, 4 catfish setups, 1 trout setup, 4 crappie setups, 1 striper setup, so if my math is correct that's 16. Man I would like to know how much coin that is. On second thought, I don't really want to think about it.
12
11
12 rods
lets see. i have 2 main rods that i use, one spin one casting. then i have a spinning rod that i have for my friends to use if they need a pole. another spinning that rarely get used. and a fly rod. oh and my ultralight, but i rarely use that. i also have a couple rods with no reals. so thats about 6 complete rods
