No pictures yet. I'll be trying it out on Stripers this afternoon. From my initial impressions, E21 has a winner in it's hands with this rod. It weighs nothing. I mean the only comparable rod weight wise is a Steez or GLX. Maybe halfway between the two, as it is definitely lighter than a GLX and about par with a Steez. It will handle lures between 1/4 - 1 oz (the 1 oz part would be stretching it IMHO)
The rod is very nicely finished and again, first impression, an absolute STEAL at $150. Pictures to follow.
Congrats. Can't wait to here about it.
QuoteCongrats. Can't wait to here about it.
x2 8-)
Hey Redline.
Let me be the first to say.........................
AHHHHHHHHHHHH What's up DOC?
I want one bad but i want one over 7ft long(baitcaster)..when r they comin out anyone know?
AWESOME, I'm anxious to hear your reports
What is the actual action of the rod??? More inline with a glass/crankbait rod, or fast to ex-fast action??? Thanks.
He's also replaced his megastrike with a bottle of Seven Seas Italian dressing lol
I'm ordering one..
I'm thinking about ordering one, but I want to know more.
How does the rod feel with different baits.
Robert, what type of techniques would you recommend this rod for.. I want a Drop Shot rod, and maybe another jig rod, but from the sound of it, it isn't the ideal rod for either... Maybe I'm wrong?
QuoteHe's also replaced his megastrike with a bottle of Seven Seas Italian dressing lol
Nah, you gotta go with Wishbone!
Robert, What is taking you so long to go fishing and give us a report. Geeeeeeez, you're slow. Now get out of and go
I'm gonna sound real stupid..but what is a Parabolic action rod?
What is the actual action of it?
I explain how the rod is built, plus review several other new products, in my article here: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/icast_2007.html
Hope that helps!

The rod bends all the way through its length:
Of course, there can be 'stiff' or 'whippy' parabolic rods....
Dan
Ahh got ya...thanks
Sorry for the delay guys. Busy weekend
What can I say about this rod. It really impresses me. Light weight, loads great, casts a country mile, super sensitive, great components, nicely balanced. Makes a great rod for throwing crankbaits, spinnerbaits, wieghtless plastics like flukes would be great on this rod as well. Get one now guys, before they decide to raise the price. I promise you wont be dissapointed. I didnt think it would be strong enough against peacocks but I have changed my mind. This rod will make the trip to Brazil as well. Here are some pictures.
hmmm tempting. That orange pixy looks nice on it.
Hey I gotta ask...where'd you get that Calcutta? Is that a custom paint job or something? I love it!
It's an old limited edition "cigar" reel. Came in a humidor and everything.

Because you don't want too much moisture around a fishing reel,.......................... :
IMHO, this is one of the ugliest rods I've ever seen but then when you put that pixy on it,....well, ....not so bad. What happened to the redline creel of "I may not catch fish,...but I'll look d@mn sexy trying"????
(I know, that's what the Ranger full of Evergreens, Kistler's, Steez's, Loomis's and Croix's are for :))
Definitely a big plus on my trip was getting to try every high end stick and reel out there. Some cool stuff. The line-up has changed considerably in only 1 month,....what will next year hold??
(reminds me of the old "demo days" when I used to ski. The general public got to actually ski on next years product. Often skis they could never afford to buy so at least they got to see what they were missing, lol.)
Be sure to let us know how it performs and if any rabbits chase you around the lake.

If I start whacking rabbits with the rod I'm sure PETA would be all over my butt!
lol ..... NOW THATS A SWEET STICK .....
can i ask where you got the rod for 150$!!!??? please let me know
Nice rod Robert....I like the skeleton reel seat. Enjoy!!

That's their retail price not some special price. Go to their website.
I only wish they had a few more options on the rods. Length and action and such. I might go get that spinning rod though, I'd have no use for the casting rod.
What a sweet set-up. Not everybody takes such care to color co-ordinate their rod and reel. It looks like a match made in Heaven. Enjoy.

Very nice, I *** your rod and reel collection. I someday aspire to have such nice setups. I am available for adoption
What guides are those? Look like Berkleys, but can't tell.
Very Nice....
How would you compare it to other rods you own? Would it be on pair with a St. Croix Avid or a Loomis IMX?
Weight, action, quality compare to a Steez. I mention that in the review earlier......

I read it. I just thought it was a first glance sort of thing. To tell the truth, I thought you might be stretching it a bit. Sorry.
If it compares to the Steez, that is one awesome rod. I will have to pick one up before next season.
That is a really nice looking rod. i may have to get one of those. I really like the orange color.
QuoteIMHO, this is one of the ugliest rods I've ever seen
Just wait til I get one and put that nice light blue Stradic on there. Now that'll really make ya puke!
FWIW I think the orange rod is teh sex.
QuoteFWIW I think the orange rod is teh sex.
You've been married tooooo long. ;D
(Matt-Call me, I need to enlighten you,lmao)
Hmmm...an orange rod that is only $150.
A Core would look mighty nice on there... :-/
I shot them an email(e21) and i cant wait but there other baitcasting models r due out late november :'(. I need a heavier action rod for jigs
I just got mine in ( the 6' 9" casting) and everthing robert said is true. This is one AWESOME rod. Buy one if you want a great deal, You are getting a $250 rod for $150 simmons sporting goods has them for $149.99 with FREE shipping.
If that rod was coming in from Japan, it would be $400 EASY.
You could be right Robert, I would put it Up against any other rod I own or have owned. (kistler, loomis, st croix, all star) I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I felt like I stole it, since it only cost $150
Hmmm.....tempting..... start saving now for Spring.....or buy one now before they raise the price??? :-/ :-/ :-/
Think I need to get one and put a sol on it. Wish they made a 7' spinning rod.
I wish they had a fast action trigger rod =(
Uh ohhhhh, I know two wild and crazy guys who just ordered two of the spinning rods....DOH!
well i must say 1st thats a sweet lookin stick ..... however i do have questions .... the action of this rod is different so i cant say i understand the action at all .... i geuss what i read here ,,, it looks like the rod would be good for spinnerbaits and cranks .... i couldent see fishin jigs or worms with this stick .... the maker of the rod is Ken w the old pres of arrius rods so the man is a rod designer ..... however he leaves arrius to make rods for a company e21 a golf club comapny .... ive also read that the rod shown at icast as the carrot stick is different in many ways .... ive looked at pictures of bolth and do see plenty of differences .... i read that the carrot sticks that are being sold now arent or dont even have the carrot stands in the blank due to weight and inability to keep the strands on the blank ..... i dont know what to think .... i know Ken is a stand up guy ,, infact ive spoke with him before about buyin a arrius xl ..... it just seems like a bad joke or somthing .... i dont get it at all ..... when i think of fishing i dont think of carrots or golf clubs .... someone help me understand what is going on here??????????
I've got an Abu Garcia 4500C in Sunset Orange in my collection that needs a rod. I think I have found it. Placed my order 3 minutes ago.
With all this talk I just could not resist trying the Carrot Stick. I purchased both the spinning and the casting version. I have not yet actually fished either one but I certainly have played with them! My initial impression is they are well made with excellent fit and finish at this price point. They certainly are different looking, absolutely orange! I will start with a Shimano Core on the casting model. The black reel and orange rod seem to fit together pretty well. My plan is to use this combo for small to medium crankbaits and the smaller spinner baits. As for the spinning rod, I really haven't given much thought to how to rig that one. I'll probably get my Daiwa Luvias.
