Hahaha. Oh man that is hilarious. Im at work and everyone is wondering what I am laughing about. Sad thing is I cant tell them out of hear of a SH case from HR.

fishing user avatarjbsoonerfan reply :

I love mine........but I can honestly say I was no where near that impressed. They are great reels, but not to the point of making me taking it to the next level.

fishing user avatarbuzzfrog reply :

no it is orgasmic, I love mine, mine was a 100 bill though

fishing user avatarDatBass reply :

yes it is orgasmic. you know that feeling, its like i had sex with an inanimate object. its normal

fishing user avatarGrantman83 reply :

I must be frigid. I sold mine before even casting it lol

fishing user avatarKDW96 reply :

Nothing normal about this topic?  :dazed-7:  :cut:  :Idontknow:

fishing user avatardrew4779 reply :

I bought one this week and am debating taking it back. Seems to cast well but I'm not wild about the star and it doesn't palm as well as some of my other reels. I keep thinking about dropping an extra $50 and getting another chronarch E. Thoughts?

I would say take it back.. The Ch E is a tiny reel and I find that it outcast the tatula for long distance.

I didn't care for the tatula. I've got a chronarch e7 but I'd probably get a curado I over the chronarch e.

fishing user avatarflippin and pitchin reply :

They sell them on line after midnight on cable channels.

fishing user avatarBlues19 reply :

I was looking between the Tatula and a Revo S or SX and I went Revo because the Tatula rubbed on my hand weird.  I wish it had the same basic shape as the excelor.  Anyway, it seemed rad other than the way it set on my hand.

fishing user avatarjbsoonerfan reply :

I don't have a problem with the way mine palms, but I have pretty big hands. I actually can't really tell much difference in it and a Curado 100D.

fishing user avatarbuzzfrog reply :

shimano fan boys taking over, lmao.. i love em all, but my tatula casts a mile.

My Curado casts 2 miles lol

Yep, they are a tough crowd. I love Shimano reels, but I also can appreciate a quality reel when I use one. I have used just about every reel from every manufacturer and I can tell you that the top end reels are all great reels. I even took up for the G series Curado when others bashed it. It is what it is. This is no different than any other thing out there. Just opinions. And we all know what they say about opinions :)

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

It's a larger framed reel and not like your normal low profile baitcasters on the market. Anyone thinking of buying one should play with it in person first. It's not a good fit for everyone. Being used to fishing with a zillion and seeing a comparison between the two online made it not that difficult for me. If you can deal with it's size and weight then it's a very nice reel.

fishing user avatarjbsoonerfan reply :

It is about the same size as a Citica 200E which most Shimano fanboys claim is a great reel. (and I agree)

fishing user avatarcrankcaster100 reply :

I just spooled my Tatula tonight and I have to say it feels great paired with the Tatula rod

fishing user avatarbootytrain reply :

The only bad thing about palming the Tatula is the mag dial rubbing the skin off my finger after fishing it for awhile. That's something you wont find out just holding it in the store. The Gen 2 Revos are actually wider.

fishing user avatardam0007 reply :

I got 2 Tatulas that I haven't fished yet, was my experience supposed to be twice as organic. If that's the case I got ripped off lol

I'm not sure they are organic either???????

Atleast I hope not lol

fishing user avatardrew4779 reply :

I had no intention of starting a brand debate. Lord knows there are plenty of those on this forum. The t-wing system was what clinched the sale for me. Gimmick...maybe? But less friction seems to make sense to me. I wish I could deny that 90% of my reels are shimano but I can't. I went with the intention of picking up another curado but they were sold out and I already traded in the reel at bps. I'd hate to go back there since that is where the bait monkey lives and my wife hates that monkey so I was hoping you guys would tell me that this reel would satisfy a fanboy like myself.

fishing user avatarTywithay reply :

I have 4 Tatula's. I will say they don't palm as well as my Chronarch CI4+, but not to the point it bothers me. I just grab them and go fishing. I never take the time to think that maybe it's a little wider than something else.

fishing user avatarNorcalBassin reply :

This topic makes me scared to even hold a Tatula. Definitely going to have to get another Curado now...

Thats I what I want to hear. Distance is paramount to me fishing pressured waters with lighter weight lures

Then you are better off with the new Curado I.  It crushes my Tatula R in distance.

.

This was my problem. The dial is right where I put my finger. On the zillion, the dial is recessed so I never even noticed it until I held a tatula. I took the other route and bought a t3 at $210. Man what a deal

What didn't you like?

fishing user avatarGrantman83 reply :

The added width in the front of the reel and the jutting brake dial are right where I keep my pointer finger. The dial rubbed my finger red when just practice casting and reeling in a frog (it's intended use). Walking the dog was very uncomfortable for me. Again, this was only in the short time I spent with it, so I can only imagine what a full day would do.

As I said, on the zillion, the brake dial is recessed, so I never even really noticed it. And the zillion isn't as wide in the front, so it basically disappears in my hands. Not the case with the tatula.

I'll keep going for the zillions that are at $150 used lol. Keep in mind thought that I am in the minority however.

It's a shame when one won't even give something a try because of what they read on the internet. SMH

fishing user avatarfrogflogger reply :

read the tt review on them

fishing user avatarMcAlpine reply :

At release I went to the local BPS with plans to purchase one.  I thought it was a bit big, didn't palm well and the AR is loose.  Not impressed, no orgasm.

fishing user avatarTywithay reply :

I don't think I've read a single negative performance review on the Tatula. It just seems ergonomically they're not for everyone. As far as I am concerned, that's pretty good. I do agree that it's a good idea to hold one before purchasing though, because they aren't a fit for everyone. I'd recommend that with just about any reel out there, to be honest.

fishing user avatarZB85 reply :

I've got a tatula coming in the mail right now. I don't have little girly hands so I'm not too worried about the size of the reel. ;)

LOL!!!! You probably don't have limp wrists either so the extra .5 oz isn't going to make you get fatigued by noon.

That is another excuse people give is just how heavy that thing is, LOL.

Bunch of small hand, weak wristed people I guess ;)

I beleive most of my breaks are turned off, got it for a bill from a friends, 8 gear reel. casts those mini live target koppers frogs a country mile, I have to thumb it though before it actually gets near ground, as it wants to go in the woods, not wanting to hang a 10 buck frog in my back yard lol

fishing user avatarDatBass reply :

watch ouch daiwa guys, the shimano bandwagon has reached its destination. haha but love the chronarch too

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

I traded a curado 51e for my tatula r.  Did I commit some sort of sin?

Everyone has their favorites. It may be Abu,Shimano,Daiwa,Lews ect.      Buy what feels good to you and don't worry about anything else.    Anything in the $150 price range is going to be a solid reel.    As with any rod or reel purchase I recommend to mess around with them in person. I've bought a number of rods online that I end up not liking and having to sell or trade off.  Peoples reviews are helpful but it comes down to your personal liking in the end.

fishing user avatarbuzzfrog reply :

I love em all. I have em all, if I had to be beat, to pick a reel, i couldnt I love my old quantum tour edition, first big reel purchase over 50, and it  it still all butter. but my smoke and chronarchs are beasts. Tatula is casting killer but a season of hard guck and muck shore froggin will show its true colors, but atm it is beast

fishing user avatarAQUA VELVA reply :

Yea, that would be a great name for another Tatula model, the Tatula Orgasmic! They would fly off the shelves! Marketing genius I tells ya!

Just a joke about holding a reel that could give someone an orgasm. I certainly have plenty of Shimanos, but I also have 5 Daiwa reels, 3 PQ's, a couple Abu's, a Pfleuger, and a Lew's. I haven't yet qualified to be part the Shimano Posse, although I do love their reels.
