The BPS Spring Classic is a few weeks away. I find the time approaching, when all hope is lost for my bank account. My wife, sits in solitude as she ponders the horrors that await as I gleefully browse my master catalog, hoping, wishing, that certain items will be on sale.
All joking aside
What items are you guys hoping will be on sale, as in, you don't need one, but you will buy one, or 10, if the price is right.
My personal wish list
Hoping to pick up a Pflueger president spinning reel, rod will depend on what is on sale. Probably a 6-6 MH. Hoping abu garcia might have their rod line on sale, Vertias or vendetta. I have a ML vertias that I plan on using for pretty much drop shotting and shakey heads. Want something with a little more backbone, perhaps for jerkbaits or some weightless stickworms. (I prefer spinning rods for this)
Also hoping to pick up another PQ, debating between Falcon bucco or a carbonlite rod. I know the PQ and carbonlites are usually on sale, but we shall see.
Also hoping to stock up on some Jigs.
Yes, these items are not expensive even when not on sale, But I love a good bargain!
What are you guys hoping to see?
I love my Falcon rods. I doubt they would put the Buccoo on sale though. I don't have any Buccoo's but I have heard they are decent rods. For the price IMO I would pay a little more and go with the Lowrider series. It is worth the extra 30-50 bucks.
You could turn in some of your old rods to get some money off a new one.
I almost wish I hadn't bought the two reels I have this year -- though the BPS Extreme baitcaster was on sale and I doubt the price will improve during the spring sale.
Honestly, I hope for nothing. I'm pretty much as stocked up as I need to be, particularly since that son of a gun bait monkey got me again today with some more plastics and spinnerbaits. But hey, they were on sale.
I hope for a lot of cool things but 1 thing for sure would be the Xcalibur XR50's!!
What kind of deals do they normally have for this sale? Is it a xxx % off or just selected items will be on sale? Also when is it?

Usually a mix, some % off on some items, some sale prices on regular items, and almost always some special purchase items.
It can be a real find if the stuff you have been wanting, falls in one of those categories. Also a lot of guys find stuff they may have wanted to try, but didn't want to pay full price, but, hey, now that it's on sale, I'll give it a shot. It is always a lot of fun just watching and enjoying the excitement. The sale runs from Feb. 22, thru March 10. I work at BPS, so I look forward to seeing you....... uh... that is if you're going to the one in Cincinnati......lol

The flagship store in Springfield MO, has always had Wiggle Warts on sale for something like $2.99, so I always grab a handful of those. BPS tungsten weights are usually on sale, and I always need some more tungsten weights. Last year they had sale prices on Lucky Craft cranks. I'm hoping they get their flyer out soon so we can see what the deals are. It's only 2 weeks away for crying out loud!
If the pixy comes down it might be more than I can handle. If it gets anywhere remotely close to $300 I would buy one in a heartbeat.
Probably going to get a 100% dedicated topwater rod/reel. I wont be spending a fortune on it because I dont throw topwater that much at my home lake. Its not nearly as effective as other places.
I look for deals on "comsumables".
Bulk line!!! I bought 20 or 30 bags of plastics last year. I'm solid there. I have plenty of hooks and weights. I want two more Revo STX Gen3's, but I doubt they can get me know as cheap as eBay...
Johnny Morris Carbon casting rod for my Gen 2 Premier.

Def a place I could work....my check would goto the discounts on BPS products tho...Id be broke.
I hope to get another pq, carbonlite reel(s) and a spinning rod. My friends need items so I encouraged them to wait a bit.
I think this year I'm more keen on terminal tackle sales since I've already bought a Lexa 100, and I just scored a Premier at DSG for ~$50 to pair with it!!! I had to do like the commercial with my son who was with me: "Don't tell your mom"
So I really can't justify any "big" purchases this year. Unless I find an Avid down to $100...

That is exactly where my BPS money goes. Probably more than I even make. I am retired, and that was the very reason I wanted to work at BPS, to feed my fishing addiction. It works out real well for me.

It starts Feb. 22nd. They usually have discounts on some of their merchandise at 50%. Most everything in the flyer is discounted. But my suggestion is to go in to the store anyways. They always have other things on sale at huge discounts. It is a time to stock up for sure!

They had these at Dick's a while back on clearance. Got 2 for a buck each.
My hopes? I hope the new Bass Pro store they are building (10 minutes from my house!) is on schedule to be completed this fall!
I'm in the market for a crankbait Compre and a few crankbaits. Some fluorocarbon as well.
I'm looking forward to getting some more KVD LnL, some 6XD cranks, a few packs of Rage Craws, and maybe a new scale. I'm set pretty much on everything else.
Just got my Classic post card with member rewards, etc., in the mail yesterday. Yippee ki-yay!
x4 points on Abu or Penn purchases, double points on all purchases at the Friday 22 Feb event
I'm surprised none of you listed outboard oil. They always run a very good price on oil and I stock up. Usually have a 5 - 6 gallon limit, so I go 2 - 3 times. Of course it's only 5 miles from my house
I hope they only send me ONE flyer, insted of the usual 283.
Hopefully I will be able to find a good baitcaster combo.
I seen a flyer today. My dad got his in the mail. Looked through it. Mostly 10-20 percent off here and there. The johhny Morris sig rods were marked down thirty bucks, and then if u used the rod trade in it came out to 89 bucks. Nothing else really jumped out at me. Cabelas also sent out a flyer and they ad some similar sales.

The new white bionic combo was marked at 70 bucks or so. Don't remember exactly but it was about half off.
I doubt they even carry what I'm interested in, if so I'd pay full retail. Okuma raw 2 and Okuma cedros inshore rod. Wouldn't mind getting a Shimano terez and get rid of my Star handcraft.
Going the 22 to get my free little Bomber collectors lure. After that, drop about $150 on baits and stuff. My wife says NO MORE SHIMANO REEELS!
Making the Pilgrimage down to Foxboro from Maine next weekend. I really hope the JM Signature Series Spinning Reels are back on sale this year, as I want to pick up another one. Last year they put the new carbonlite spinning reels in their place. Then it will be the usual assortment of Zoom plastics as they're always 25% off. I'd like to see those Mustad KVD Grip Pin hooks on sale. I started using them last year and love them! I got 2 to 3 times the life out of baits I was getting with regular hooks. But I'm most excited because my brother is just getting into bass fishing and this is his first trip, a total virgin! I can absolutely not wait to get him in there and spend his money! The possibilities are endless!

Sounds great, my wife says no more anything period.
What did you have to do to get your lure?

If he's married, hopefully he can stay married.
Engaged, so the newness is still there. He's good for a least a couple of years.
Hoping the BPS Crankin' Sticks are on sale. Also looking for deals on Senkos, premium fluoro, and maybe Red Eye Shads.
I've found that Dick's usally runs a sale on Yamamoto stuff the first weekend of the Classic. If memory serves me right, they're quite a bit less than BPS that weekend.

Good to know!

Its for premium rewards members if you have their conservation (credit) card.

Ahh nice! They don't offer them up here in Canada or I'd have signed up for their CC. Yet another disadvantage! d**n!

HA True, but if I am to carry a couple of them, might as well make it worthwhile!
World peace, and more Kate Upton pictures...

Sports Illustrated is about to make one of those happen.
Probably some EWG hooks, and circle hooks. Need some bullet weights also.

World Peace could happen if we all stared at those pages with Kate Upton.
Got my flyer today and it has some stuff I need on sale this time around. I am going to be getting a Carbonlite Rod with the rod trade in. Then I'll get some tungsten, line, XTS Rod socks, and some Kermy's! I am sure I will find something else while I'm walking around.
Does anyone know if they accept rods that are broken for trade in? Only the top eye lit is broken just wondering b/c its a bass pro rod.
I believe they tell you they need to be a working reel and rod because they donate them to kids groups.
Looking for deals on soft plastics. Gonna restock Rage line of baits and Berkley and might get an A rig or 2 if the price is right.

The price is definitely right on A rigs. The original Manns are only $10.
Looking at the ad. Does anyone know if that Bionic bait caster on front page worth a d**n ?
Can't really spend a lot
Thanks Ed
It's brand new....doubt anyone has used it yet.
