Yesterday I spooled my rods with braid. It's my first time trying it. So I put 15lb power pro on my spinning reel. And 30lb power pro on my BC (lews speed spool ss1). Anyway I go out this morning at a local pond in Richmond. I tied on a Texas rigged rage recon in green pumpkin. I'm fishing it slow and I feel this pressure. I tighten the line and feel movement! Then whoom! She feels the hook and I set it good. My rod bent so much (carbonlite 7mh)! I had full confidence in the braid (which I now love by the way, no leader) but I was worried about the rod. I never felt that much weight before. Anyway all thanks goes to bass resource. I was just a crappie bluegill fisherman before I found this site. Here she is. (I think she had a crappie in her stomach)
That's a Hawg right there
Congrats! Did you get a weight on her?? Braid really lets you feel the fishes strength. Id advise against it for anything with a treble hook though. I have lost fish before I learned this. Unless you are using a rod with a soft tip. Those treble hooks need stretch or give so they don't get ripped out.
That is a darn good catch.
Nice one! Way to go.
niceeeee
Great Bass ~
Congrats

Thats a good fish man. Congrats!
Wow!! That's a pig right there. Congrats!!
No I didn't have a scale to weigh her then... But I have one now! I'll be ready next time
Nice fish!! Now the next step is to send me a message with the lake yo caught her at lol
Wow what a gut on that ol' gal. Great fish congrats. You know it's a biggun when the eyes start bulging.
Hog and a half! Congrats on the catch.
Thanks everybody! This experience has really boosted my confidence in decision making
And so it begins. Kiss your spare money goodbye. Congrats on the hawg.
Congrats. Beautiful fish ravens!
Great job buddy. That fish would make anyone proud!
Yea! I'm jealous. Ditto on the braid. Best thing since the fishing reel.
Way to go! Great Fish!
That's a nice fish way to go!
Very cool
Congrats on that bass!
nice lunker!
i use power pro braid as well. look for the super silk ( if you dont already have it) you will love it even more
great fish!
Yeah I saw the super silk but I figured I would start with the "standard" first. I literally have went from mono to fluoro to braid on this one/first baitcaster. And now I have a new 7'mh Duckett ghost (micro guides) because my wife just broke my carbonlite. Can't wait to fish it!
Nice Bass I am going out tomorrow
Nice bass! Salsbury?
well done, sir!

I must be doing something wrong...

I used to run up to Richmond and fish Salisbury Golf Course on Mondays with "Sam" and "woodycrankbait". There are some hawgs in the last pond with the mini bridge! You should check them out if you get a chance. I think Salisbury still let's people fish their ponds on Mondays.
Nice feesh! I still remember my first big fish. It was awesome, hands shaking and this big bulgy eye bass staring back at me. All thanks to bass resource.
Great looking catch. Congrats.
