Well guys, I finally fished one. I hadn't come up with any fishing plans for this weekend and my friend Robert calls me friday and asks if I wanna fish a delta tournament. I said sure. I had only fished the Delta one other time this year and had done pretty well. We ended up fishing Saturday (pre fish) and Sunday (tournament). We did alright saturday, I had a couple of nice swimbait fish in the morning, one of which was between 4 and 5, didn't weigh it. We then spent the rest of saturday fishing every possible way we could think of and narrowing down spots and techniques. We got on them ok, but not great.
When we finally got launched on blasted off on Sunday morning, there was an 82 boat field. Mostly guys who consider the delta their home water. We got out there and things went right ;D
We had a swimbait fish around 5, and cranking fish of 6.1 and about 4.5 as well as some 3ish fish on cranks and flippin. We ended up with 25 and change for 7 fish.
Big fish was an 11.08 lber and there was a 10.6 and 9+ weighed in as well :o
But we still got 'em! First place out of 82 boats in my first tournament! What a ball!
I took some of the winnings out today and got myself a G. Loomis SWBR955C Swimbait Rod to throw my medium size baits on, and it is a BAD MUTHA TRUCKA! I love this freaking rod! I paired it up with a Shimano Cardiff 300A that I have a Calcutta 400B handle mounted on, its SWEEET!
I still like catching big fish alot more, but winning tournaments is fun stuff!
That is kick bass 4bizzle, good to hear about a young guy winning a tourney and showing that consistency pays off. My hat is off to you and your partner Although I would love on of those DD fish, especially in Iowa.
Congrats on the win. Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend.
Congrats Jay that is awsome. I still have never fished a bass tournament. Maybe I should try it. As long as I aint fishin against you guys!
congrats!!!! thats awesome
Dude
Tournaments are exciting and the money helps buy new toys but I'll take the satisfaction of outsmarting a Hawg any day
Way to go 4Bizz! That rod you picked up is nice.
I'm surprised the turtles didn't get to those fish before you did.
Congrats on the win!! 8-) Got any pics?
Excellent! Jay,
Only thing better than catching a box full of fish is spanking everyone else in a touney. And a new toy to boot. Good job!
Ronnie
AWESOME BIZZ!!!
I was there last week and could only manage a few dinks,......I didn't want to ruin the bite for your tourny ;D ;D
Congrats
;D ;D ;D ;D WOW! ;D ;D ;D ;D
First tournament and you won!
You, my friend, are a natural.
Congratulations!
8-)
Fantastic FB!!! 8-) You da man!
My hat is off too to any tournament Bassers as I too have never fished in one....too 'skeered' :-[
Dan
That's awesome man. Like RW said, you are a natural. Try it out again!! 8-)
Thanks guys! I had a ton of fun. Only problem is now I gotta mve some rods so I can afford the SWBR 956C! These things are wicked!
I didn't take any pictures on my camera, but there were a bunch taken, when they show up, i'll post em!
I was just about to type how I am impressed that you can catch both bass in both numbers and size, but I realized that all of your tournament bass were "kicker fish" in most tournaments! Congrats!
What tournament trail was you fishing on. Their website should have some pictures posted. 82 boats is a very good tourney.
Congrats on the win.
Hookem
Matt
Hook Line and Sinker.
They haven't put up the pictures yet, but I will keep checking.
nice job man!
Wow, that is impressive. Heck, I am just happy to weigh in a limit in my tournies. Maybe I should re-evaluate my goals.
Congrats on a great win.
Good pics man, future star in the making!! 8-)
Wait, wait, wait,
You gotta tell us who caught the big crankbait bass.
c'mon man, If it was You, BRAG A LOTT
Ma man 4B.
coolest cat you eva did see
I started that other thread for a reason: I GOT WHUPPED UP ON! Robert had all of the big fish! He was on that crank bite! He pulled my weight all day LOL!
I'll ride coat tails all the way to the podium LOL!
In my defense, I stuck to swimbaiting for a huge portion of the day and it didn't really go like pre fishing did. Most all of my fish culled out or were shorts, but a couple of them made up the limit. I run a mean net LOL!
He's long and he's lean
with that net he be mean.
A bass may tremble when they see him yankin'.
but they have no fear when the bizter is crankin'

LOL! I love it!
Regardless who caught or who netted, it was a team tournament and you guys smoked 'em....good job fellas, thats a good win. Congratulations!
Be careful, tournament fishing will SUCK YOU IN, especially once you cash a few checks.
Congrats on the win bro!!
Any consideration put towards fishing more tournaments?
Good job, any more in the planning?
Wow!! WTG, 4B!!!! Thanks for sharing such an awesome report.

Absolutely. It's just like Tuna fishing, the guy throwing the dart (harpoon) is just as important as the guy holding the rod. A team is a team.
That first pic is awesome, did they make that for you? Wondering how they set the focus....very cool effect.
No, they didn't make it for me, it is just the one off of their website. They had a professional photographer with some kind of uber-bad DSLR, thats all I know!
I'll probably fish some more tournaments, but I don't see them being a priority anythime soon.
Congrats! That's awesome 8-)

Russ-that's a filter that is applied post process. You can find a similar one on Google Picasa. Picasa is great, FREE software.
It was great to meet you when you were in Cali. Maybe next time!
Nice pics man!
Congratulations, again.
Nice pics, too!

Longfishography,
Welcome to the forum.
Matt
Great Pictures 4B, Don't be shy, taking someone elses money to buy your toys is way better than using your own.
By the way, that how teams compliment each other, by trying different patterns untill one unlocks the puzzle for both to jump on. Or getting the net. lol
Team work is still team work.
