The description says "freshwater big game," but the website says it's saltwater... which is it and does it even matter?

Answer: Saltwater but I don’t see why you couldn’t use the reel for either one.

Are the frames for the 300 and 4000 the same size?

Answer: Yes they will fit

I surf fish. Can this handle being submerged in saltwater and dropped in sand?

I baught a 5000 and just got it in the mail today 5/10/2021, is anyone else missing a screw at the bottom of the reel handle housing?

How many yards of 65 lb braid?

Answer: I don't know. I just filled my 2000 with 165 yds of 15# braid. What size is your reel? My recommendation wou,would, be to: a. Contact the company customer service folks; or b. Build a small mono base and then just fill it up with your choice of line.

What are the differences between the 1000 and 2000? Just the spool size and drag? I bought a cadence ultralight rod but no reel foot seems to fit.

I had high hopes for this reel after the initial use and landed a sizable snook on my first trip with the drag working flawlessly. After each trip this reel got progressively worse until I could barely turn the crank handle. It seemed as though it leaked water but after opening and inspected it looked pretty good so there must be some inferior part in there that broke. This sounded like a great deal so I gave it a shot but it turned out to be worthless.

Reading great things about this compamy I bought the intro Cadence Ideal reel just to test the waters and I was blown away. The smoothness and lack of play in the anti-reverse are exceptional. Almost as good as my Shimano Stradic fl. Thinking that if they could produce a reel this well put together in their lowest end reel, surely their mid to upper range reels would be exceptional. Wanting a backup saltwater reel to my Penn spinfisher I figured I would try the Stout. Unfortunately I was wrong. It wasn't nearly as smooth as the Ideal and there was a bunch of play in the anti-reverse. I ended up returning it. I was actually kinda of sad. I was thinking of maybe trying the CS5 pro out but scared that I might have a repeat of the Stout and don't want to ruin the reputation I have of this company in my head. I've been telling everyone about them.

I'm glad I purchased this reel. It is so smooth. I use it in the ocean/salt water and so other than rinsing with fresh water after using it each time, I feel that it'll be fine. I purchased this reel(5000) for crabbing with snares. It's strong enough to do the job and I don't have to worry if it's being overworked. I recommended this reel to my brother, who is an avid surf fisherman.

I'm trying to set up an inshore salt water rod for my nephew.
This reel is REALLY small. I'd say it would be better suited for my medium to heavy action sweet water stuff.
I'm going to order a larger one.

Bang for the bucks this is a grate buy. Normally I would rather send the money and get a Penn. Over the passed few years I’ve seen more and more of these little light weight tackle reels in my area of North Florida. So far I’ve had a 2-3 foot Bonnet head sharks, nice size blue cats, and other types of fish and the reel is smooth no issues. The drag seems to work wonderfully but I’m sure that’s where the down fall to this reel will come from. It’s a little poorly made as far as the drag goes but if I get a few years out of it I’ll be able to replace it for little of nothing compared to a Penn. It’s still early on and fresh out of the box, were I stand at the moment I would recommend this reel for a beginner fisherman even to a experienced fisherman looking for the next best replacement rig!

I've had high end spinning reels most of my life. Bought two of these reels to save a little money and try something different. Gearing up for a trip to the gulf coast to do some surf fishing. Spooled the reels with 20 lb JBraid. We'll see how they hold up to salt and sand. Other 6 rigs are all similarly priced Penn reels with Penn rods. These reals seem smooth and we'll built for the price.
