Top top it all off it's got Shimano's Hagane body for strong performance without any tilting or warping despite a lightweight body. Product reviews of SHIMANO SLX Baitcasting Reels
Graham : Very much worth the money
Best reel for $100. Wanted a better reel than a black max or silver max and was willing to spend the money. Very glad I went with this. Very smooth and can use with any line.
Justin Truong : Great reel and great service.
Great real, was packaged very well.
Anon : Great reel for the price
For the price this reel is very smooth and it is very compact so simple for anyone to Palm and use. Great casting distance and for whatever reason I got no backlash while using it even though I do that quite often on my other reels seeing as how I'm newer to the baitcasting thing. Very impressed
Alex Nagy : Solid $100 price range option
The reel feels really smooth and I like the rubberized handles which feel have a higher quality feel. I have several Lews Tournament MB’s in my collection and I actually prefer this reel over those for $100 price point reels. I have a couple Corados and DC reels and the slx is not the same as them but for the price the quality is definitely there.
Amazon Customer : Worth the price!!!
For the money it’s worth it!!! Acts like it has DC, but for me it’s the next best thing.
Michael : Awesome!
A really good reel for a good price.
Steven p : Its fast
Its light weight and fast.
Peter : Almost as good as my Metanium DC and Antares DC Amazon
I have owned many baitcaster reels. What I have found is that the more you pay, the more you get. That statement doesn't work for all products.
I can cast this thing a mile, same as my Shimano Metanium DC. It's incredible, and for the price it's definitely worth it. Probably should be $250. The low profile is great, if you're hiking around and just nice.
The noticeable difference between this and my Antares ($500) or Metanium ($500) is the crank is slightly chunkier, and less smooth. I mean, it's a small difference.
Compared to a $70 silver max (very nice), or a $140 Lews combo (great) it absolutely blows it away. And I love my Lews. It's 20% better than a Daiwa Fuego FGCT100.
Honestly would easily play $250 for this. Shimano is just unbeatable quality.

Amazon Customer : High quality for the money
Smooth reel the pulls in a ton of line quickly. Good feel and fit in the hand.
Adjustable centrifugal brakes with large grip handles. Overall a great value.
Consumer : SLX 150 6.3 baitcasting reel
I have been fishing this reel since October 2020. The reel is smooth and very quite. It fades into the background when being used as it should. The 2 star rating comes from the discovery that instead of 25/26 inches per turn it retrieves 19. I was aware that the reel took longer that expected but I attributed it to longer casts. I decided to check it and found the subpar performance. I also ordered another SLX reel at a different gear ratio and found the same problem. So not a one off but an intentional attribute? While the reel has performed very well otherwise and I intend to continue to keep using it I can't overlook the issue.
Anthony Marcone : Great reel
Solid well casting reel. I’d buy again
L. Nguyen : Great
Iam sure it’s a great reel I returned it because I wanted the dc version

This is an excellent bait casting reel at a reasonable price. I had not used a bait casting reel in several years, and my first cast was excellent. I had on small backlash out of about 100 casts, and it was my fault. Buy this reel, it's all you will need.

Great reel at a great price. Cast very smooth. I usually keep 2 brakes engaged and throw 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz crank baits on this setup. I have it paired with a Duckett Micro Magic Pro pole.
