Questions about Piscifun Blaze Fly Fishing Reel with CNC-machined Aluminum Alloy Body 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10(Gold, Brown, Sapphire Blue)
Q:
can it be converted to right hand retrieval after delivered
Answer: Yes, just take off the spool, pull off the first/top spring ring, flip the first washer and reinstall the spring ring
Answer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb7bpzeupyY
Answer: Yes
Q:
How wide is this reel?
Answer: Just over 7/8" inside spool
Answer: Excellent quality. Very durable construction & would definitely recommend!
Answer: 1" = one inch.
Q:
When will 5/6 reels be available?
Answer: Sorry that the blaze reel we will not produce it again. We have other fly reels(Sword, Sword2, Crest, Platte and Aoka) and they are all high quality. We recommend you to try other reels if you love our item. Thank you so much. From Piscifun
Q:
what does the reel weight? 3/4wt and 5/6wt
Answer: The weights are shown on the reel description page on Amazon. 3/4-- 4.1 oz, 5/6----4.9 oz
Q:
How much backing should I put on the 7/8 wt version of this reel?
Answer: This depends on what size and what type line you have. A 7 Wt. could probably hold 100 + meters of 20 lb. dacron. The 8 Wt., I'm not sure. In the 8 Wt. The reel holds less baking and is probably best suited to freshwater Bass and Pike, which fight hard, but don't run far. BTW, I've only just returned from my pilgrimage to the METOLIUS RIVER, where I used the 5/6 reel successfully on the very difficult trout.
Answer: what i did was tie my backing onto the fly line and put the fly line on the reel first, then the backing to see what looked good. Took the backing off and put it back on an old spool. What i ended up with was around 175 yards of 20# backing. good enough for me just depends on how picky you are
Answer: If it's 90 to 100 ft fly line you can get 200 yards of 20lb backing. If you want heavier backing, I don't know.
Q:
How do i get the 9/10 wt in gold?
Answer: Really sorry we don't have the Gold 9/10 fly reel now. The 9/10 Blaze fly reel only has one color(Sapphire Blue).
Q:
Has anyone tried 10wt drag work for tropical species? (Jacks, rooster etc..)
Answer: I have the 8 weight and use it here in the Northeast Florida salt marsh for redfish. The drag was fantastic right out of the box, but after a couple of weeks, it was sticking, so I broke it down (piece of cake), cleaned and lubed it, and it has been flawless ever since. Great drag - reds don't run long like a bonefish but they're pretty fast and they put their shoulders to it. So far, a fantastic reel for the money.
Answer: I suspect if the 7/8 I have works superbly for big steelhead the 10wt will do just fine against anything it faces
Q:
New to fly fishing. What size reel for 8.5' rod, 4 line weight?
Answer: Length of rod has nothing to do with the size of the reel. It is weight specific just like the reel. 4weight rod for a 4weight reel with 4 weight line. Sometimes you will see 3/4 5/6 and 7/8 paired together.
Answer: You could go with the Blaze size 3-4 or the 5-6 size. The 3-4 is pretty small that is why I suggest the 5-6. IMO
Answer: Either a 4/5 or 3/4 weight reel would be fine most reels will handle two different line weights
Answer: Look at your fly rod to see the ratings. It should have a line rating (e.g. 4lb, 5lb, 6lb, etc...) Then I would purchase a reel that meets the line rating for the for that rod.
Answer: You can order these reel in any line weight you want. if you want 4 weight get a 4/5 weight reel
Q:
Does this work well for saltwater fishing?
Answer: It could be used but it does not have a sealed drag. Must be cleaned after each use. If going to use strictly salt water fishing better off using the Platte reel. It has sealed drag and would not use anything smaller than 8 weight. 8 wt to big for trout fishing.
Answer: The reel description says " Great use for freshwater and saltwater", so I would assume so.
Answer: I have used my 7/8 wt Blaze for bonito and worked beautifully
Answer: I use mine in the rivers which are all fresh water with no problem so I don't see why it wouldn't work
Answer: The reel I bought is for trout and steel head ~ They do have salt water reels. I love my reel.
Answer: I would say no because it is not a sealed drag
Q:
When will you have more 5/6 extra spools?
Answer: It will be available about two weeks later. Please stay focus on us and contact me again if you have any issues. We will always be here if you need us. Thank you so much.
Q:
Can this be used for occasional salt water fishing?
Answer: I don't fish saltwater i fish fresh water and its a great fly reel I bought 2 and love them both
Answer: It will work in salt water but it is not sealed salt water is corrosive to steel inner parts, bearings etc. Pull apart and wash well after every use.
Answer: I don’t fish salt water so I don’t know for sure but I would think that if you rinse your gear when you are done, you would be fine.
Answer: I wouldn't see why not. The drag is excellent with high braking ability and the reel has a very durable anodized, machined aluminum construction
Answer: You can but remember that it probably doesn’t hold a lot of backing or line
Answer: I’d say yes, but you better flush it out very well
Q:
What is the width of the arbor/spool on the 5/6 model?
Answer: The width of the 5/6 spool is .91in.
Q:
is it possible to buy this reel with spare spool ?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is drag sealed?
Answer: No,the sealed fly reel will be availble 15 days later.
Answer: Enclosed but not sealed. Sealed drag is an expensive option that you won't find on a $60 reel.
Answer: O ring sealed
Q:
Does this reel come also with a spool. When I open the box is it ready to go after I put line on it?
Answer: Yes, you open the box and put the line on it, then you can use it. Please choose Spool if you need extra spool. Hope it helps!
Answer: Yes. There is a spool. Backing and fly line and your good to go. Great reel for the price.
Answer: Yes it has a spool on it. I love mine, hoping to use it again this weekend.
Answer: Yes, all ready to go
Answer: Yes
Q:
what is the width of the 9/10 wt
Answer: Width for 9/10 is 27.2mm or 1.07 ln. Piscifun web site has all info you want for all their reels.
Answer: the width of the reel is 4"
Answer: I don't know. Mine are 5/6 wt.
Answer: I do not no I bought the 5/6 we sorry
Q:
are spare spools available for this reel?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Do any of your reels click when fighting a fish like the click and pawl reels?
Answer: I've bought two of them and no, they don't click. We oldtimers are used to the click so I understand the question. Nice reels though.
Answer: Mine does not.
Answer: No
Q:
So do you have to buy the reel and spool separately?
Answer: If you choose the reel, you will get a integral fly reel which include the frame and spool. If you need an extra spool for other types of fly line ,you can choose a extra spool and a reel together.
Answer: No. The spool comes with the reel. You can buy a spare spool separately for different size line
Answer: It's an excellent reel. It came complete, just had to load the backing, fky line and leader.
Q:
This is the entire reel correct?
Answer: Yes, this is a entire fly reel and we also sell extral spool of the fly reel. Please choose the right color and size(Notice: you only get a spool if you choose spool of color/size. You will get a reel if you choose reel of color/size). Please feel free to contact Piscifun if you have any issues befor you place your order. We will always be here if you need us.
Answer: in the same link you may choose the reel or the extra spool, this picture is the entire reel
Answer: yes. it is the entire reel.
Answer: Complete setup. Reel & spool.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Made in China?
Answer: Yes, the Reel is made in China. You will not find this quality at this price point made domestically. The customer service is excellent.
Answer: The box and paperwork doesn't say so but I think I looked it up and it is made in Asia
Q:
When will 5/6 wt Gold Spools be available again?
Q:
Can anyone compare this with the sword? Price point is close so I wondered if there are any opinions on comparing them,I primarily trout/ bass fish.
Answer: They are the same quality and the design is different. As Zigfried said: The SWORD is a more traditional design. The Blaze is new fashion design. The Platte is Fully Sealed Drag Larger Arbor fly reel(the best qulity we have so far) .
Answer: I don't know this this one. I own the BLAZE and the PLATTE. It is probably similar in quality to the BLAZE. The SWORD is a more traditional design. This company produces high value reels. With either the BLAZE or SWORD and, say, a TFO FINESSE, you will have an excellent set up for trout or small panfish.
Answer: the only difference I can see is design. Sword has circles where Blaze has semi square holes.
Answer: Hey, Zigfried again: REDDINGTON also makes a 9' 6wt. 4 piece medium action. Also good rods for the $ East casting!
Q:
One-way drag. new to fly fishing, does this real only allow you set the drag for one direction, than the other direction is free spinning?
Answer: What your asking is the drag both ways (no) line pickup is freewheel, there is drag on fish or stripping off line to cast. I recommend that reel, had a blast with 500 or so bonefish.
Answer: not sure I understand your question you can set the drag to hold against fish but it still works the same as any when pulling off line to cast
Answer: Correct-The drag engages only when you pull line out. When you crank in, it freewheels.
Answer: Correct
Answer: Basically, yes.
Q:
can it be used in salt water?
Answer: It has a sealed drag so I don't see why not. I do believe they make a specific salt water model though..
Answer: Yes,it can be used in saltwater. Please rinse it after use.
Answer: This reel is all you need for fresh and salt water. It's a great fly reel for the price. Hope this helps.
Answer: Well it does not have a sealed drag if that is what you are asking but I would not hesitate to use it in saltwater if you are willing to take care of it like you should
Answer: Yes, just rinse after use.
Q:
How do I change from right hand to left hand
Answer: Please notice that Piscifun fly reel has been set at the factory for left-hand retrieve. It means that the reel is left hand reel when you received it. Please contact us via email or your order and we can send you a video on how to change it. Thank you so much. From Piscifun
Answer: It's been a while now but I believe mine came with left hand wind. I prefer it that way.
Answer: I'm left handed
Q:
What's the difference in performance between a cork drag and others? I'm looking at the 3/4 wt, but might get into a 20 inch trout.
Answer: This reel's drag system is Multi-disc cork and stainless steel. It is more smooth and wear-resisting than others.
Q:
how much 20lb braided line can I use as backing on the 9/10 reel? I assume it's more than the 20lb dacron, what about 30lb braid?
Answer: Why would you use braided line
Q:
If I buy the reel version, do I also need to buy spool as well?
Answer: No, one spool comes with the reel. I actually bought the reel and an extra spool. I have floating line on one spool and sinking line in the other.
Answer: The reel will come with a spool....all you need is backing and fly line for your reel.
Answer: no the reel comes complete. Buying a spool just gives you an extra spool( handy for having a different line setup)
Answer: No, this reel included the spool.
Answer: No, the reel is complete with the spool
Answer: No it comes with one on it you can buy extra ones if you want so you can put different line on them
Answer: No, the spool came with the one i bought
Answer: Nah, it comes with a spool on it, and it’s easy to change lines.
Q:
Is a spool included with the purchase of a reel? And what is the size /diameter of the 3/4 wt reel with spool attached? Thanks
Answer: No,You need to buy the reel and spool separately if you want a reel or a spool. The diameter of the 3/4 wt reel is 2.9in.
Q:
If i order a 5/6 weight model can i put a 3/4 weight spool on it?
Answer: No, the spool width is different. You'd better choose 5/6 weight spool if you order a 5/6 weight reel. Hope it helps!
Answer: No! as in most fly reels spools are matched perfectly to fit the corresponding models.
Answer: No. The spool width is different as well as the spool diameter.
Answer: No...it is a different size reel
Answer: Yes you can
Q:
Is this product amazon prime?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does it come with a spare spool?
Answer: No,it does not come with a spare spool. You need buy it if you need extral spool.
Answer: The one I purchased didn't come with a spare spool. But I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of this fly reel. It's a great buy for the price. Hope this helps.
Answer: No spare spool.
Answer: No spare spool unfortunately.
Answer: I have never bought a spare spool so I do not know
Answer: No...my order did not.
Answer: NO.
Answer: Mine didn't
Q:
Why wiuld I buy this over the Sword to save $3.00?
Answer: I purchased the reel for quality for fir price savings.
Answer: The simple answer is that you wouldn't. I own both a Sword and a Blaze. They seem equal in al ways to me. The have different aesthetics which might make one more appealing than the other for some people. The Blaze still comes in Gold with is a beautiful color for a fly reel. Both are great reels.
Answer: Pull the trigger; both are a good buy
Q:

Answer: I have the Blaze and am very well pleased with it.......it's real smooth and has a great drag system!!
Answer: They are all high quality and please choose the design you like. Hope it helps!

Product reviews of Piscifun Blaze Fly Fishing Reel with CNC-machined Aluminum Alloy Body 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10(Gold, Brown, Sapphire Blue)
Michael : Beautiful but the drag could be better
I returned this reel because it was either zero drag or too much drag. Really no in between. I also ordered a sword and they appear to have identical drag designs but the sword had a little more adjustment. Not great but useable. I don't know if this will wear in over time and get better or not.
Beyond that this is a beautiful reel with excellent machining and no slop between the spool and frame. Nicely machined crank handle instead of plastic. They skimp a little on the internal design and drag quality but otherwise a great looking product.
Demaree H. : This reel is fantastic! I have used it twice now on Steelhead
This reel is fantastic ! I have used it twice now on Steelhead. The price is unbeatable , the drag is smooth and compared to the reels that I already use for steelhead fishing it is now one of my favorites.
NewMom : I just love hearing that clicking of drag with a fish on ...
Smooth and well built, my only complaint is the drag is soooo quiet, I just love hearing that clicking of drag with a fish on but this reel is silent...
Stephen Beebe : Five Stars
Used it twice now and love it.!!
Lance B : Wow... Just order it now!
One of two that I own. Amazing reel that's incredibly smooth. Feels much more expensive in hand and when using. Only wish I would have found these sooner!
Brian J. Dalton : Great reel overal
Great fishing reel. Have used it several times, just haven't connected with a fish yet. Still fishing.
Amy Coley : Excellent quality reel for the price
Excellent quality reel for the price. Very smooth and drag adjustment is very nice. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced reel. Can't wait to get out on the stream and try it out !!
Andrew Burden : Plan to sell all your "high dollar" reels!
This is easily the best real I've ever used! At under 100 bones you can't go wrong!! The drag is spectacular. You can feel the quality under your fingertips. At the price I expected to find at least one rough edge. None to be found. I can't say that from other more expensive reels. I'll be buying another no question about it. Do yourself a favor and just grab one to see what the rage is about. You will not be disappointed. The color options are killer to put a cherry on top of this gem!
Another Duck : right handed or left handed reel a great product for the price
i like the reel a lot , it is mounted on a pack rod that it either fly or spin , the Blaze fits perfectly , it would be handy to have the right or left hand crank on the instruction sheet ,
David Dudley : Great reel at a great price
First off, I am by no means an expert on fly reels. I have, however, been fishing for most of my life and have owned a wide variety of fishing equipment. Experience has taught me that you don’t need to have the best of the best to be successful. Consequently, it will cost you more to replace cheap rods, reels, etc. every season if you purchase entry-level products. Therefore, the goal is to find something that performs well, is durable, and does not break the bank.
And, so I introduce you to the Piscifun Blaze fly reel. This is a very nice reel.
I purchased the 5/6wt version of this reel. First things first, it is handsome. The brown model. It has a bronze-like finish that works very well with my rod. Next, the rod I paired it with is a 3.9oz. 5/6wt, 8.5’ dry fly rod that I will be using primarily for trout, smallmouth, largemouth, schoolie stripers, crappie, and perch.
The weight distribution of the reel with the rod is PERFECT! I cannot state this enough. The reel-seat fit snug against the rod (no gap). When attached to the rod, the reel creates a natural pendulum when casting which helps me shoot the line out to my intended target. I know the rod ferrules of my rod factor into this more than the reel, but in my opinion, having the correct weight distribution between rod and reel is just as important.
Moving on. The frame is sturdy but not bulky. The spool arbor is a concave ported arbor (as described) and allowed me to load plenty of 20lb backing while still having enough room for both 100yd of 6wt-fwd line, and 9’ of leader material. This is exactly what I was hoping it would do. Next, the line spools itself nicely when reeled in (no log jams). Lastly, the drag is excellent. My first day out with the reel I got into some nice small-mouth. The reel worked like a charm. Since then, I have been mostly fishing for trout. Not one single complaint on my end.
I am very pleased with this purchase. My fly-fishing buddies with set-ups that easily cost 4x more than what mine does, speak very highly of my rod and reel. And, after having used both the $200+ reels they own, and my $55 reel, I cannot justify spending that much more to have something that performs virtually the same.
J. Buck : Really want to like these reels but both have been relegated to back ...
I own the 3/4 and 7/8 versions of the reel and have mixed feelings on their performance after logging quite a few hours on both. The machining is much nicer than the price point would let on and they spin very smoothly and true with no slop, but the drag has been inconsistent and at times has a really high start-up inertia that has resulted in snapped leaders. Fishing for larger steelhead with the 7/8 and 7lb leader had me wanting to throw the reel in the river. The drag also goes way, way too high on both reels- as in I'm setting the drag knob at probably around 5-10% or less and if it gets accidentally bumped (which happens all the time to me when I'm changing flies and the reel is under my arm) it's either in free spool or ready to fight a 20lb striped bass. Having more drag than is needed would be fine if the adjustment ramped up more gradually and wasn't so easily bumped out of the desired setting. Really wanted to like these reels but both have been relegated to back ups because of the drag issues mentioned.
joseph maus : ... an example of a small company that makes an awesome product at not just a reasonable rate
This is an example of a small company that makes an awesome product at not just a reasonable rate, but a flat out bargain. This reel has the look and feel of reels costing 10x more and that's because it is made of the same materials. but this and you will not be disappointed!
Jack : Nice Reel
About as nice as a reel can get for the price. Well made, tight tolerances, no wobble, no side play . All smooth and sleek.
Amy Coley : Excellent quality reel for the price
Excellent quality reel for the price. Very smooth and drag adjustment is very nice. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced reel. Can't wait to get out on the stream and try it out !!
jeeperscrepers : Five Stars
Seems very durable and well made only used it once though
Amazon Customer : Game Changer!
This compecould restructure the whole fly reel market. I have had really expensive reels in the past and I promise you that I will never buy a crazy expensive reel again. The fit and finish are as good as any reel I have had. Now imagine if the made a 200 dollar reel. I believe I'd they did it would match even the most expensive reels made today. I was hesitant because of never hearing the name Pascifun, but the reviews finally made me cave. But a few of these reels, you will not be disappointed, trust me.
jeeperscrepers : Five Stars
Seems very durable and well made only used it once though
Ken B. : Five Stars
Excellent reel for the price. Very good quality.
Kyle : Have yet to take it fishing but spooling up the ...
Have yet to take it fishing but spooling up the float line I put on it I can tell it’s well built. Silent non-click reeling in, with subtle/ very quiet click while stripping line out. Looking forward to getting out on the lake and testing it out.
Amazon Customer : So far the quality seems comparable to any $200 reel.
Pretty impressed so far for the price. Haven’t used it as much as I’d like yet. But that will soon change.
Dan : Great reel, great price
I love this reel. No complaints. I've landed trout to 6lbs with it. No issues. The blue looks great with my copper colored rod. I would absolutely buy another one!
Zigfried : ASTONISHING VALUE!
Astonishing Value in this product line and the next rung up. The Piscifun BLAZE and the SWORD are great value products for fly fishermen of any skill level. Excellent machining and a simple, effective drag that will work for trico spinner' tippets or sculpin dredging. I've purchased the 5/6 weight and 4 extra spools. It should be noted that I consider this a classically 5wt. sized reel, although, with the MID ARBOR, a six can be used. It would balance well with an 81/2 to 10' 4 wt. as well. This, if you are fishing wide water, with smaller flies. The company's top shelf line: The PLATTE is priced much higher, but looks set to compete with pretty much anything out there. The PLATTE features a sophisticated fully sealed drag and large arbor. I will purchase the 7/8 and 9/10 in the PLATTE model.
SuileDearg : A Value Reel With Quality
The Piscifun Blaze fly reel is a good value reel without the compromise in quality. The cnc aluminum and anodized body seems to match that of Orvis and Allen reels; it's quite a stylish reel.
Where the reel isn't so strong is its drag, the click drag system seems to be very resistant when engaging the clicks. After the click the friction of the drag seems to lessen until reaching the next click which then increases friction. It feels like hitting a small bump upon entering each click. This is a new feeling for me; my Allen reels have a very linear form of resistance where both the click and the intermittence in between are equivalent in terms of friction. This issue is so minute though that it shouldn't affect being spooled by a fish while dialing up the drag "within reason".
Another small detail I should mention is that the reel should not be used in saltwater; there are a few points of ingress that will be negatively affected by salt. It is more than good for fresh water though.
I bought a 3/4 and the thing is tiny; it's a true mid size arbor reel. The 3/4 will hold a modest amount of backing while still leaving room for 3/4 weight line. I am certain there is enough space for 5 weight line if needed.
On my first outing with the Pisccifun I managed to catch a nice Peacock Bass and a Midas cichlid. The reel handled both well; I recommend this reel.
JustinG : Best Bang for your Buck!
I bought this reel before a 2 week trip to Canada to go "Product Testing" for another brand, which does not make fly reels. Being that I needed an 8 weight fly reel for the trip, and not wanting to spend a fortune for a one trip expense, I came across this reel and decided to give it a shot. My expectations were fully surpassed from the moment I opened the box. Fit and finish is excellent! Anodizing is consistent. Drag felt super smooth. I put it to work on dozens of 2-4lb smallmouth, and even a few pike. I loved every second of it. Now, I will admit I am not a fly expert as I am a bass fisherman 95% of the time, but for what I needed this reel did it all. I would have no hesitation picking up another when the time comes.
Surf Shopper : Pleasantly Surprised
Pleasantly surprised. Very nicely made reel. Very light but sturdy in feel. Drag system is smooth and easy to adjust. For the price, I could not give it anything but a five stars.
Christian Phelps : Phenomenal value
Absolutely phenomenal for the money. My only gripe is the arbor size but that’s a minor inconvenience. Great reel and solid craftsmanship. I bought it as an experiment more than anything but was very pleasantly surprised. It’s got more of an old school feel where it’s heavy and mid arbor, but it truly is a great value.
Stephen Beebe : Five Stars
Used it twice now and love it.!!
Asueham : Nice reel
Reel performs well. The "click" sounds right. Nothing feels loose or out of order. Smooth retrieve. Satisfied
Jack : Nice Reel
About as nice as a reel can get for the price. Well made, tight tolerances, no wobble, no side play . All smooth and sleek.
Robert Hamlett : Piscifun Blaze reels....Outstanding.
Initially I was doubtful regarding the quality of the Piscifun Blaze line of fly reels given the attractive price line, but no more. I now have four reels in weights from 3/4 to 7/8 and without exception, they are all excellent and have proven their superb quality on numerous fishing expiditions from Alaska to Broken Bow Ok, from the Florida salt flats and bodacious Reds to the larger than life Tarpon of Belize. In all cases the Blaze fly reels have handled everything I've tackled and never once failed. The comments about drag issues are bogus in my opinion. On the ocassions I've been taken into deep backing the Blaze reels have handled the high speed and high torque challenge without failure. Accordingly, I am not at all reluctant to provide an unqualified endorsement of the Piscifun Blaze family of reels. In a word, they are outstanding and a top pick given the moderate price.
Alejandro : Great trout reel
Great reel for the money. I didn t use it yet, but i like it.

R C G : Good deal on a nice fly reel
Love the reel. It's smooth, drag works well, adjusts incrementally smoothly and remains smooth through what I would consider too much drag to practically use. Wonderful reel for the money....love the Coffee color too.
JimL : good reel, good price
this is a very serviceable reel at a reasonable price. I will buy several of them for my 8wt rods. Jim Lawson
evcam : Great value for the money.
I bought the 3/4 for trout instead of the more expensive reels I usually buy, like nautilus or lamson I thought I should check it out and see if it's any good- why spend the money for a fancy sealed drag reel for little freshwater fish. It's a nice reel and surprisingly smooth and powerful drag.

John N. Bosko : very good quality.
...very good quality.....good looking....cannot wait to catch some trout with it...
Joe Cecchini : Incredible quality for the price!!
I haven't finished with this reel yet.... but have taken it apart looked at it's components and checked the tolerances all look very good for $50 it's rather amazing to be honest! I never thought I would see the day when you could buy at bar stock aluminum fly reel for the price of some decent fly line.
Flyfisher65 : A nice quality reel
Took my new Piscifun reel out to the river, this last weekend. It performed well. Like the smooth drag. Seems to be machined well. I would recommend to my circle of fellow fly fishermen.
Kaden Avery Milkovich : Five Stars
I have two piscifun reels and love them both. Perform well, look beautiful, and budget friendly.

Dan : Great reel, great price
I love this reel. No complaints. I've landed trout to 6lbs with it. No issues. The blue looks great with my copper colored rod. I would absolutely buy another one!

Brooke Whitlock : A great reel!
Great purchase and perfect condition! I bought this for my fiancé and he LOVED it! Would deffinately buy again! He said it would be perfect for fly fishing! Very smooth and able to hold a lot!
JBoogy27 : Paired this up with a 7wt ECHO Bad Ass Glass Quickshot
Paired this up with a 7wt ECHO Bad Ass Glass Quickshot. I bought this reel until I save up for a 7-8 American made reel. This thing works well and looks great! So far, so good.
Michael J Arnold : Really nice for the price
Perfect little reel for a new bamboo 6-foot 2-piece 2-tip bamboo for our banquet Grand Raffle. I found none of the problems specified in the few negative reviews I found before ordering this reel.
Amazon Customer : Smooth drag
As with my 3/4 piscifun reel, this one is also fantastic. I have it on a TFO Axiom II 8wt, and it's a really well balanced setup. Took it out for the first time the other night for some snook, had some big ones on and got a small one to the boat. This reel performed flawlessly, and I had more than 1 fish that took drag. Drag was smooth and adjustment easy. Can't say enough good things about these reels. Rinsing with fish water after salt use will prolong life.
EDIT- After quite some time in exclusively saltwater, it's still going great. I do rinse and dry after each use, but so far no corrosion or anything.
Nic C. : Great reel for a good price
Great reel for a good price. I was skeptical when I ordered but I am very happy with it so far. I would buy another one.
Jason G. Jackson : I can't get over the quality at this pricepoint.
After reading other positive reviews from experenced flyfishermen, I ordered the Blaze 5/6 weight. The reel shipped promptly and arrved without delay. The anodized finish and machining tolerances are very impressive. I concur with other reviews that the quality of this reel is on par with American brands costing more than double. The drag is solidly built, very responsive to slight adjustments in pressure, and feels like it could stop a freight train at the maximum setting. The ball bearings are smooth as butter and the retrieve is effortless. I knew the reel would. be exceptionally light, with that in mind I chose the 5/6 weight to balance out my 10' 2 weight nymphing rod. The pair are a perfect match in balance. So I have it rigged with a 2 weight line and backing and am essentially fishing it as a 2 weight due to the very light design. I highly recommend choosing aprox 2 weights higher than the rod you will be mating it to. You will gain the added benefits of a larger arbor and a better balanced rod wth the center of balance firmly in the grip. I can already see myself buying a few more of these reels in different sizes and I am telling all of my fishing friends to check out this amazing value. Due to my positive experience and pleasant surprise in the quality of the reel, I will also be taking a closer look at their rods, which come with highly favorable reviews as well. Thank you Piscifun, for making an excellent product at every man prices.
