Black Anodized Machined Aluminum Housing ("Hard Bodyz" Body & Side Cover)
Daiwa BG is equipped with a machined aluminum body and body cover providing strength and internal part stability. To increase the strength in the form of corrosion and scratch resistance, Daiwa has Black Anodized the body and body cover. The anodization process allows for better adhesion to the aluminum and will not chip or peel like a painted surface, extending the brilliant look of the BG spinning series.
OVER-SIZED DIGIGEAR (DIGIGEAR SYSTEM)
Daiwa BG spinning series have integrated the largest drive gear in the history of Daiwa spinning reels. The benefit to having this oversized gear increases gear-tooth contact points, this provides smoother and extended gear life as well as more power and increased torque.
| | |
Solid Screw-In Handle Daiwa’s Screw-in-Handle design provides zero movement or play between the main gear and handle arm. This lack of movement offers the angler both confidence and control when rotating the handle. | AIR ROTOR The Air Rotor weighs up to 15% less than ordinary rotor designs. Its unique shape reduces unnecessary weight while distributing stress more evenly throughout the rotor for maximum strength. | ABS SPOOL The ABS spool's maximized core diameter and reversed taper mean 100% useable line. No "dead" line buried in a deep core. You can fill it with line right up to the edge of the spool lip without fear of tangles. ABS cause less casting friction for longer and easier casting. The huge spool diameter line flow freely in larger coils and produces less line memory coil. Smaller spool diameter means line flows in tighter coils as well. |

Questions about Daiwa BG2000 BG Saltwater Spinning Reel
Q:
What is the gear ratio on the 2000
Answer: BG 2000 - (5.6:1 )
Answer: Look on the Daiwa website for more info
Q:
What size is the 99$ reel? It doesn’t show up In the description.
Q:
I want a 4000 series reel but am confused about which one to click on to order
Answer: Daiwa bg 4500
Q:
What do the letters BG, mean?
Answer: Daiwa made a reel that was a very good reel it was called black and gold the new ones are called B G for black and gold
Answer: It stands for Big Game not Black & Gold.
Answer: Black Gold
Q:
how come you dont carry the 2500?
Answer: The tooth fairy didn’t want it
Q:
Best size for bass fishing?
Answer: 1500, 2000 and 2500 would all be good choices for bass fishing. If I had to give one as a gift it would be the 2000 or 2500. There is a big difference in terms of max drag power from 2000 to 2500 but for bass fishing I can’t see the max drag factoring in as much as in saltwater fishing or larger freshwater fish.
Answer: I have a 2000 and 2500. I like them both, the t knob on the 2500 is not my favorite, but each reel has it's place. Bigger than a 2500 is overkill for bass,( some guys might say a 2500 is overkill). Take a peek at the Tatula lt line of reels, my tatula 2500 falls between a bg 2000 and bg 2500( the tatula 2500has the same knob as the smaller reels, which I like). The bg line is heavy once you use a carbon framed reel, but the bg line has built a reputation in it's short life span so far. They just feel built to last, and the drag is smooth as silk.
Answer: I have 2, 1500's that I use for pond/lake/small river fishing. They are paired on 7ft M/L rods and 8lbs NanoFil.
Q:
Do you make a 3000 spinning reel for saltwater?
Answer: I believe this company does all reels salt water
Q:
Which size would be better suited for kayak fishing the 2000 or 3000?
Answer: Both are fine for a kayak. Most important would be the length of your rod, 6' to 7' is good. It depends what you're fishing salt or fresh water. The Daiwa BGs are larger than other manufacturers, however, in salt water the 3000 will handle 90% of your potential catch the 2000 will do for fresh water.
Answer: Not the size of the watercraft, more species of fish. Bass/ walleye, 2500 very good size but that's my personal opinion. A very solid reel for the price.
Answer: It depends what you are fishing for and how much line you need. If your not sure go 3000 it has higher drag than the 2000
Answer: I liked the 3000bg 12 lb mono however using here in Florida for surf fishing I rinsed after every use and the bail failed after 2 months and a ball bearing froze up I guess I had a bad reel
Answer: 2000. The 3000 is too heavy in my opinion. It gets tiring to cast after a while.
Answer: Good reel but go with 3000, however don’t get it wet as it will not handle prolonged saltwater - I switched to Tsunami reels fully sealed.
Q:
Hello good afternoon, i am interested in the 5000 model, are there available? any whatsapp number to contact and make the purchase? thank you
Q:
I have an okuma 10.5ft surf rod. which reel offered here matches up best? the 5000 or 8000? i don't see anything inbetween.
Answer: It’s really your discretion. One is obviously gonna be able to handle heavier line better than the other. I got the 5000 and damn thing is bigger than my hand and I’m 6’ 2”. It’s really up to you in all honesty. If you want to catch smaller fish you know like sardines and what not than 5000. If your going after bigger fish than I say 8000
Answer: It depend on you and the line you are going to run. I ran my 5000 on a 12 footer with 50 - 65lbs test braid daiwa line and it worked fine for me
Q:
your main photo shows a BG5000 reel but yet in the info section it says the reel is a BG2000 which is it ?
Answer: You should be able to pick which version you want !
Q:
What’s the difference between saltwater and freshwater reels?? can i use this bg in freshwater??
Answer: Yes, a fantastic reel that can be used in both. For the money, may be the best reel on the market. I would even consider the 1500 for fresh water.
Q:
What is the status of myorder
Answer: No idea, ask Amazon . Should be able to look it up under orders. Easy to find out.
Q:
Confused by the model listing. you have the bg spin 6+1, 5.6:1 ($99.95) then you have the 5000 series ($95.99). what is the difference?
Answer: I have only the big one.
Q:
What is the length of the seat? Could not find it anywhere. Looking at sizes 3000 - 4000 for surf fishing and my Celilo has small opening
Answer: Standard lug should work just fine
Q:
Does the bg 2000 handle have the same rubber grip handle as the bg 1500 for anyone who knows?
Answer: Yes
Q:
How does BG 2000 compare to Shimano reel sizes?
Answer: I have the Daiwa BG 3000 and Shimano 3000 and the BG 3000 is significantly larger and heavier.
Answer: They are about the same . The Daiwa in my opinion has a better build quality.
Q:
This is confusing, the have 2 for sale an 8000 also bg spin 6 + 1, 5.6:1 what size is bg spin 6 + 1, 5.6 : 1 ?
Answer: Daiwa 8000 is the largest of the BG series. Very large line capacity. Popular with long surf casters. 6 + 1 is the number of SS ball bearings and 5.6:1 is the retrieve rate- 5.6 rotations of the spool for each turn of the handle.
Answer: 6 + 1 is the bearing count = 7
Q:
Gear ratio
Answer: Gear ratio for BG2000 is 5.6 to 1, 5.6:1. line retrieve per handle turn is 29.5". I have been fishing 4 of these reels over the last couple years and they are outstanding!
Q:
I'm trying to find bg 4000 or at least 3500, do you have it on the stock, if so, how can I order it?
Answer: When they have it buy it. check once in a while
Q:
does the 2000 model have a anti-reverse switch?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Do you carry the bg 2500?
Answer: 1500,2000,3000,4500,5000,6500, and 8000 in the Daiwa BG
Answer: no just 1500,2000,3000,4500,5000,6500, & 8000
Q:
is this the recommended size for saltwater fishing ? seabass, porgies, ling, tautog, trigger, etc.....
Answer: I have a BG3000 which I have put 20lb braid on. I use it for light surf, like back bays and inlets. I also use it for inshore fluke fishing off a boat. It's a light action reel, but I have taken blues up to 12lb. You might want to go a little heavier for blackish and ling in deep water. Say a BG4000 or 5000 with 30lb braid.
Answer: I have the 8000. I use it offshore all the time for all snapper, triggers, kings and even a couple 5' black tip sharks. Fresh water rinsed and a little lube after each outing and still is just as smooth as fist bought.
Answer: I would jump up to at least the 3000. For saltwater versatility, the 4000 would be my first choice.
Q:
Hi! i have a 8'6" ml 6-12 lbs line 3/16-1/2 oz. spinning rod. can i pair this with the bg 2000 spinning reel? any suggestions. thank you!
Answer: I use the 2500 with a 13' intro spinng rob with 15# braid, with about 20 feet of mono up front for small game. Should be able to handle larger game.
Q:
Which size for is best for mahi, grouper, and mutton fishing
Answer: depends how much of a fight you want. I have the 5000 with 50lb daiwa j-braid and that has no problems with yellow tail king fish.
Answer: 5000 size and up! My choice would be the 6500
Answer: I have the 6500, i know it could handle a large grouper.......not sure about the 2500, but think it would be too small.
Answer: 4000-5000 series be fine
Q:
Do you carry the bg 2500?
Answer: 1500,2000,3000,4500,5000,6500, and 8000 in the Daiwa BG
Answer: no just 1500,2000,3000,4500,5000,6500, & 8000
Q:
is the bg 6+1,5.6:1 is 4000 or 5000?tnx
Answer: Neither. 5.6:1 is the 3000 size. 4 and 5000 are 5.7:1
Q:
Ordered the 2000, but it’s too small. Can I exchange for the 2500?
Answer: I do not know what the policy is with the Seller and Amazon? It might cost you more to ship back, etc.
Product reviews of Daiwa BG2000 BG Saltwater Spinning Reel
michael langevin : Good deal
Great reel for the money super smooth great drag
Blue fashion flirt : Five stars!
Super smooth and really light. Very fluid. Compared to my other reels this is certainly the best. I bought a bigger one for my other rod I liked using it so much. You can’t go wrong!
KandC’s Parents : The 2500 worked well for the whole family
We bought two 2500 size reels for our children for Christmas and took them on a half day charter. We were looking for small reels that the whole family could use. My husband caught a nice drum on one of these, and the 2500 size reel handled it well. We also fought a bunch of crevalle jacks. I initially bought a 2000 size but exchanged it for a 2500, then bought a second 2500. The 2500 produces a lot more drag than the 1500/2000 size reels and has a larger handle that is easier for our kids to grip. They were still light enough for a 35 pound child to handle during a 4 hour half day charter. I can’t yet comment on how they will hold up over time, but so far, I am impressed. We spooled these with 20# power pro and paired them with the 6’6” Daiwa Harrier inshore rods rated for 6-15lbs, which threw small pilchards well. However, the rods were on closeout and may not be available. I’m so glad we chose these instead of buying more toys!

Josh : BUY IT
This is hands down the best reel for the price range. I do wish it had more than 4lbs of drag but with that said it’s handled hybrids, small mouth and large mouth with no problem. It’s very powerful. I have 20lb braid on it as well. I have bought other BG sizes now to replace my Shimanos. The body is super rigid and when you turn the handle you can feel quality. You definitely will not be disappointed.
KingFisher : Five Stars
