Answer: I'm not sure how big your bass are by you, but its big enough for PA bass. Great inexpensive reel. Fill it with braid and the right leader and you should be fine.

Answer: Yes, I use this reel for multiple species of fish around the flats and inshore of the Chesapeake Bay. I have caught speckle trout and puppy drum the upgraded drag washers on the fierce 3 are great.

what fishing in the gulf can I use the fierce III 2500 reel with the 7' medium rod they sent?

Answer: Inshore mainly. Snook , Reds, trout and other smaller fish.

What's the maximum drag with the 2500 fierce 111 reel

Answer: I believe it 12 lbs. The new version of this reel has an upgraded drag over the II, and is on par with the Battle II now. In my opinion, more than enough drag for anything you'll use a 2500 size reel for.
