Lew’s SuperDuty G Speed Spool LFS Series

The Lew’s workhorse SuperDuty baitcast series with an earned reputation for handling heavy-duty fishing situations got a total redesign in 2018, plus has added new right and left-hand models with a flipping switch. Driving the makeover is a more compact overall size, that still features a one-piece aluminum frame and handle sideplate. SuperDuty models have a premium 11-bearing system and high-strength brass gearing. The 34mm deep spool is machined and braid ready. Line capacity is 150 yards of 12-pound test monofilament. The palming sideplate is graphite with SoftTouch Armor finish.

What is the retrieve ratio of this model? Is it right or left hand model?

Answer: It depends on what you order, and how you're going to use it. There are various gear ratios available, which one you choose determines the retrieve rate. All are available in both left and right hand configuration. I wanted a fast reel for working heavy cover so chose 7.5:1 which has a 31" retrieve rate.

Are the paddle grips removable?

Answer: Yes, the cap pops of and there is a screw to remove it.

Can this be used safely for Brackish/Salt fishing?

Answer: I, nor anybody I know, have not had any issues fishing with them, almost exclusively, in salt water. I’m not and expect nor do I represent Lew’s in any way but in my experience it’s perfectly fine to use them in salt water.

How do a choose between left handed and right handed when I order ?

Answer: All depends on how you feel comfortable. If you don’t like changing hands and you flip it with you right then go with a left-handed real. If you can flip it with your left and real with you right then go to right handed but some people like to flirt with her right hand I have more control and then changed hands so they go with the right handed reel

Does this have fliping switch?

How many yards of 20 lb braid does spool hold?

Answer: Not exactly sure, but guessing 150 yards. I’m throwing 65# braid and casting frogs a country mile with a 7’6” rod and have plenty of spool left over. Unless you trolling in deep really deep water, this reel will hold more 20 braid than you can cast. Great reels, I have several and love them!

JB : Flipping Switch and Perfection

An outstanding Lew’s baitcaster that is very durable with great torque. The matte finish matches the toughness of this. Fits perfectly in my palm and places my index finger exactly on the rod to feel every bump. This is one of the only reels on the market with a flipping switch. If you’re not familiar with what that is but like to flip cast, then this feature will save you hundreds of movements throughout an average day. This will be one of your favorite reels.

Jonathan : Correct model number SDGH1 But no Flipping switch?

This arrived fast and we ordered it because it was the Lews Super duty G speed spool model that has the Flipping switch and I ordered the 28” retrieve 6.8:1 and when I opened it it had the correct model number of SDG1H but it didn’t have the flipping switch and even the box and the manual inside shows the pictures with model number SDG1H and it has the flipping switch on all the photos of it but this one did not have it and it seemed like the box was already opened and either returned before or old model not sure what the deal was with it so we sent it back and now waiting on the replacement to arrive hoping this one does have the flipping switch on it with no issues. I wasn’t sure if maybe the 6.8:1 just doesn’t have the flippin switch and only the faster 7 or 8 retrieve speeds only have it or if maybe I got an old model that didn’t have it or if I received someone’s returned item not sure. Fingers crossed it comes today and it has the flippin switch lol.

James : Was this a new or open box reel?

There was no instruction manual in the box with the reel and, there was no warranty card for me to send in to activate the warranty. My guess is this reel was returned and was being sold as new. Have since purchased other Lews reels which did have manuals and warranty cards.
