I'm new into fly fishing and I'm trying to match a good redfish reel with my Sage 9ft. What's the best size reel to use?

Answer: Yes! I took this reel to Cuba. I was very surprised how nice it was. Smooth drag and held up well.

How is this with thin running line, like rio gripshooter or opst lazar for example ? will it slip through the frame, like with some reels ?

Answer: I use 40# Berkley Big Game mono as my running line, fishing the salt. It slips through the frame now and then but not often enough to be a real issue. It's a little thicker than OPST Lazar- I prefer the mono because it's much cheaper, kinks a little less than the Lazar, and can just be switched out for fresh line when it starts misbehaving.

Alex : Chose this over a Nautilus CCF-X2

WOW. Got a pretty good deal on this reel, and after watching some reviews thought the fit & finish would be comparable to a Nautilus CCF-X2. I chose this reel over the Nautilus because it's upsetting that it costs $445 retail, & they require all of their vendors to only sell exactly at retail. I've held Ross, Tibor, Abel, & Nautilus reels, and I was blown away with the fit & finish of this reel immediately upon unboxing. Biggest downside is that it isn't machined in the states. That being said, this reel is AWESOME, & a good value.
