Answer: I have 2 Abus and 4 other baitcaster reels.

Answer: There should be no noise casting. Had one of these reels do that years ago!

Answer: China most likely. Lost a catfish of a lifetime to this reel when the leverwind mechanism broke off under strain and dug into the spool of braid beneath it and snapped the line. Im still a little upset over it if you can't tell.

Answer: The principal difference is the size. The c3 7000 it's bigger for bigger fish!

How far should it cast with a 4 - 5 0z sinker? :O

Answer: In long distance casting tournaments this is the real of choice. These professionals make casts of over 1,000 feet using Ambassadeur reels. They also remove the level wind. I use it surf fishing and can cast out seventy to eighty yards with a chunk of bait on a hook with no weight. With the right rod and practice I can see one casting as much as 200 yards with a four ounce weight. When fishing the surf I usually catch most of my fish within the first ten yards so long distance casting is not necessary. Hope that answered some of your questions.

Answer: How far you cast is a combination of skill, rod and reel. But this is one of the best casting reels I have owned.

Answer: I used this reel in Alaska this Oct. I caught Halibut, Ling Cod, and Rock fish. Including a 75 lb Halibut, and a 35 lb Ling, as well as numerous Rock fish. The reel performed flawlessly. I highly recommend this reel fir any bottom fish or Salmon.

Answer: Braid is smaller for sure. This allows you to put more line on a smaller reel with higher strength.

Answer: Typically with all the Abu reels if it ends in 00 they are right handed. In most cases if its a left handed real it will end in 01(5601 for example instead of 5600). Hope this helps for future reference.

i just got my first 7000 series reel. what is the purpose of the small screw in the spool?

Answer: I make a loop in the line I am about to spool onto the reel. This part is used to hold the line on the reel as you fill the spool.

Answer: It is there to tight the line to. So it will not slip

The other came in a split box and the drag was tightened down all the way
I assume it was a return or someone messed with it
I never saw a factory reel come that way,and drag was a bit jerky
After I replaced the drag washers at my cost it is fine

Dennis : So I bought 2 7000 C3 reels for big fish like stripper and catfish

I've used about every size ABU GARCIA reels in the round type. I've got the 4600, 5500, 6500, 5600 size reels that are all at least 20-30 years old, and all I need to do is just wash any dirt out of them before I use them and of course lube them up. I always put new mono on after a couple of months if not in use, but if I'm using them then I respool new line on as needed. I was trying to find the Ecooda reels that is a size 30R, and 50R but was not able to locate them. So I bought 2 7000 C3 reels for big fish like stripper and catfish. Can't go wrong with a ABU GARCIA reels for most anything in fresh and saltwater!!! I've had these reels for about 3 1/2 years now, and they have held up great. I spooled them up with 40 lb braid. They have not let me down. I've still got a couple of 6500 C3 reels that is at least 25 and 30 years old, and the only thing I've had to do is replace the handles on them because of chipmunk damage. The little rats ate the rubber knobs off while I had them in storage. Part of the maintenance of these good reels.

What a reel! Side by side against my friends c3 7000 Pro Rocket, same line, rods, etc. Both reels tuned and fine tuned, this one out performs the higher priced Pro Rocket. So unless you just want to spend extra money, have cute graphics; look no further! This is a real gem and really performs. Have caught several catfish between 10 and 30 pounds and the performance is flawless from casting to netting your catch! If you can get one, don't wait, get it!
