Answer: “Wet”?? ..or SUBMERGED?! If fresh water, okay…If Saltwater, any and all fly reels need to be broken down & relubricated…Spend a little more & get the Piscifun Platte…Best sealed drag in this group of inexpensive fly reels.
Answer: Mine has be completely submerged multiple time and I've not noticed any hindrance by being wet.
Answer: I stumbled and fell in the river and my reel went clear under. All I was worried about was not breaking my rod. Later the same day I slid down a Mtn side and lost my creel full of trout and filled my reel with dirt. It still works fine!

Is it set to left handed out of the box
Answer: Mine was set up to left hand retrieve out of the box. The instructions covering changing to right handed retrieving are provided in the box and are shown as an image on the Amazon product page. When you perform the changeover, be careful not to lose four tiny components: three 1/8" metal rods, and a spring. The half-moon clip that holds the drag in can also be a bit stiff to remove too.

Wasn't expecting too much from a cheap reel; Pros--spool capacity, solid construction, fairly light, factory set for left hand retrieve. Cons--drag adjustment is touchy, CNC machined, but finish appears painted on. Bought this reel to put on a cheap 3/4wt rod for catching panfish in a local pond, so it should due just fine. I spooled with 50yds of 20lb backing and 90' of WF4F fly line and has plenty of room to spare. On an additional note, from a couple of feet away, the combo looks pretty cool. Clean up the drag adjustment and a little buffing/polishing and this reel would get 5 stars.

The oddly green metallic matte finish is very distinctive. The reel is very nicely built. Probably not meant for super heavy fish but for local creeks, ponds and lakes, you will have a hard time finding a better deal.

I love this reel! It works great! The drag is very smooth, only a click or two will adjust quite a bit so be careful if you’re hooked up to a big fish not to spin that knob too much. The line is a bit flimsy but still works just fine. I’ve landed a couple snook on this reel, some bass, and a handful of 3lb+ tilapia. You absolutely cannot beat the price with this kind of quality.

Great kit with everything you need to get started. Good drag on the fly reel but keep your eye on it and the chest pack is nice for the price. A few things to know before buying. The 3/5 weight says it comes with a 5wt line but it may come with a 3wt line. The leader tapers to a 5x tippet so if you need larger tippet, know that you'll be cutting back to tie in your larger tippet. Also, the review got 4 stars because the pack comes with two 50 yard spools of backing not a single spool of 100 yards so for those wanting a single backing line without a knot 50 yards in, you'll have to buy a 100 yard spool which I would have done had I known they send two 50 yard spools and not a single 100 yard spool. Otherwise a great starter kit for the price.

David : Works great...a couple times...
Worked great for three days, then just kinda fell apart. Drag became stiff, there was a lot of internal grinding no matter how much I cleaned the reel (thinking there might have been sand inside), and then it just stopped working. Great reel for a couple uses. DO NOT recommend if you plan to use it regularly.
