Answer: I use it on a 7ft telescoping rod. I've used it for surf fishing in Carpenteria and used 10-12 lb test. However, since there is so much kelp and seaweed there I bumped up the line to 20 lb. The reel handles 20 lb line perfectly. Good luck.

Answer: I have the 4000 and use it for back Bay fishing, freshwater, and even inshore surf casting. It's very lightweight, but I find the drag is pretty underpowered for the size of the reels, so you may want to consider the 3000 or 4000

Answer: Super smooth. HOWEVER, these companies with light carbon bodies are terrible. Way to much flex/ twist. You want a reel with aluminum frame and carbon sideplates!!!

Answer: Yes, very good. Still, make sure you rinse off any reel after use.

Something that's often overlooked is the packaging. This reel arrived in firm packaging which keeps it secure. It also arrived with expanded disassembly instructions and spare washers, a nice touch. The disassembly instructions also included a parts list which I will hopefully never need.

The reel itself feels very solid. The gears inside feel like they may need a little grease, but that's ok. I look forward to testing it out!

I bought this reel to pair up with a KastKing rod I recently purchased. I have slowly been acquiring some KastKing products and I have been very impressed so when it was time to find a reel for my new rod I went to Amazon and started looking. I stumbled across the Valiant Eagle 1000 and liked what I saw and the coupon available at purchase wasn’t discouraging either. I ordered the reel and it came in very nice packaging that I would not have expected. My first impression was this is a very smooth reel. It reels nicely. Drag adjustments are audible and it is adjusted easily. There was texture on the line spool making it perfect for braided line. Overall I was pleased. After unboxing I placed the reel on a 7 foot medium power fast action rod and spooked it up. I used 15 pound braid with a fluorocarbon leader for my applications. When I finally made it to the pond to do some fishing I was very impressed. The reel cast smoothly and I got excellent casting distance. The retrieve rate was perfect! And when I finally hooked a fish it did what it needed to. The drag was perfect and made landing a fish easy. Overall I am very pleased with this reel and I would definitely recommend to anyone!

I ordered Kastking Valiant Eagle II 4000 reel. The size of the reel is not a true 4000, it's more like a 3000 size. I just got it a few hours ago and right out of the box, I must say, I'm dissatisfied. The reel looks like if somebody returned it and I got it instead of getting a new one. The reel makes a low grinding noise and the paint on handle is scratched. For the prise I should have gotten a Pflueger President, better build and probably better quality. Unfortunately I will have to keep it because I need it a reel and the reviews where somewhat good for the Valiant Eagle. Hopefully this reel will not fall apart one I start using it.

First impressions on receiving and inspecting the KastKing Bald Eagle spinning reel, it felt solid in the hand and love design and high quality of the reel.

Spinning:
Compatible rubber material handle grip, very smooth, no bearing sound, no play with anti-reverse or handle itself and has solid crisp bail snap release.
Drag system:
Very smooth precise with incremental clicking to increase/decrease tension
Spool:
Made of high quality materials, not cheap plastic.
Weight:
Even though reel made of better quality construction, still very light compared to other reels of lesser durability and quality.

Overall:
Haven't had a chance to test new reel out on the water yet, but so far first impression, don't see anything negative about the reel... well worth the money, owned many other KastKing products and always satisfied with quality at a cheaper cost... many time outlast and performs better then other brands owned.

Highly recommended.

I’ve been a kastking customer for a long Time, I use their Speed Demon pro 2000, Speed Demon pro 3000, centron 5000, Super power 25 lbs Braided line, Flurokite fishing line and more stuff. I probably own more Kastking product than anybody else because of my experience with their products. Very good drag in this reel. Smooth casting and surprisingly nice handling. Caught bunch of bass on the first day of use. You can’t beat the price of this reel. It’s very much comparable to abu garcia revo x and Shimano CI4+ (I own both of them). Tho speed Demon is I think a bit faster than this. But well it’s half the price of that reel so can’t really compare.

Will buy again (probably after a while tho cause their reel actually last a long time. Lol)

I definitely recommend this reel to anyone.

Here’s what I like:
1- the finish and detail are outstanding...comparable with much more expensive reels I own from Penn, Shimano, etc...
2- the drag is every bit as smooth and powerful as advertised
3- this is a 3000 series reel and I easily packed 150 yds of 30lb braid on it
4- it’s lightweight. Quite a bit lighter than the same size, 10 yr old Shimano Stradic it just replaced

I’ll have to use it a bit more to offer additional feedback, but initially, I’m impressed.

Have used many Kast King products in the past and will continue to buy from them into the future. Love the color. So, for my comparison of the KastKing Valiant Eagle, I have three Penn spinning reels, the best of which (and most expensive) is a Penn Battle II. It has been great for me over the last 3+ years I have owned it. So, as I start shopping around to add another rod and reel to add to my collection, I started with the Penn Battle II. Price was $119, which gave me enough pause that I started shopping around. I found the KastKing Valiant Eagle on Amazon for less than half the price. Watched a few youtube reviews of it and decided I would give it a shot. Very pleased. Ended up pairing it with a KastKing Perigree II rod. Nice combo. Smooth casts and retrieve. Not sure if the 10+1 bearings is necessary, but this thing is smooth. I'll go as far to say that , to this point, I have not seen any performance drop relative to my Penn Battle II combo and would likely give the nod to the KastKing if I had to break a tie. I will update if anything changes this opinion.

This is my second Kastking rod and reel. The first was heavt for pitching frogs with a bait caster reel. So beautiful that when the rod went on sale I had to have another. So I matched it with this reel. All Kastking prodocts are light, strong and responsive.
