Answer: Both. As almost all reels are made, you can unscrew the crank handle and insert it into "the other side" so that the crank is right there for your "preferred" hand.

Answer: Absolutely, it's good for catching small fish. It's all plastic and light weight. It has a good acting for a young child. I picked one up for my grandson a year ago and its still working well.

First off I want to say that this thing is cheap enough that it's hard to knock it, and it works just well enough, but.... it feels like it has one bearing, made of plastic and lubed with sand.

The whole thing just feels beyond cheap. The grade of plastic they used feels like it's recycled soda bottles.

Do yourself a favor and spend just a little more. I bought this for a ultralight setup. It will now sit in a corner waiting for a child to use it, upon which it will break on the second cast.

Unfortunately, this reel is not well made at all. When we took it out of the box, the handle wouldn't tighten, and there's so much play in the gears. For the price, we weren't expecting a top notch reel, but we thought it would be better than this.
