I want to use a penn fierce 1000 reel, what is the difference between the models ii and iii? i do a lot of pan fishing with 2lb to 6lb line.

Answer: The fierce iii is the newer model that came out this year with the better ht-100 carbon fiber drag sytem instead of the felt drag used in the previous model

Answer: From what I read, the iii has a few new features and an upgraded drag stack. One of the new features is the line counter rings on the inside of the spool. The new drag stack is suppose to last longer than the old one. Personally I think either version is a good choice for pan fish.

what do the TWO line capacity rings on the spool indicate? Possibly 100% full and 50% full?

Answer: 1 is for mono line and the other is braid line

Whats the capacity in -test/yards-of monofilament on 4000

Answer: I use Stren 17 lb mono on my Penn Battle II 4000 . I've landed a 35 lb King and a 50 lb black drum on that combo within the past year.

Would the 6000 iii ll spooled with 80lb test braid be able to handle a 40lb shark from deep water? or would it damage the mechanics of the reel?

Answer: Spooled with 20 lbs I landed a 70 lb blacktip from the beach. I' m sure the gears can handle any load up to the max drag. I had issues with corrosion instead. I will admit to being rather lax about reel maintenance. After my second Fierce locked up I got a Diawa BG that has been perfect. In Penn's defense I lost a Spinfisher to the surf because I was not paying attention. That was also a very nice reel, but the Diawa's gears are much smoother.

Answer: I am not sure, but remember, the Fierce is better suited for freshwater, the next model up has a sealed gearcase for saltwater. I think it is the spincaster, I am not sure.

what's the difference between 8000 and 8000 clam?

Answer: Not sure, but I believe that one is packaged in a box while clam is packaged in a tight forming plastic instead of a box. Hope this helps

Answer: I have several of the 2's on crappie rods and love them. They are 1000 series. I have caught 15 lb catfish with them. They cast well & are very smooth for the money.

Answer: It depends on which reel you buy 4000,5000,6000 etc. but it tells you on the reel. That is what the lines are on the spools. I have 50lb spider wire on mine and I stopped at 400 yards.

Answer: That would be an appropriate size reel. I own a 4000 and its honestly probably big enough too but you may want the additional line capacity from the bigger reel.

Answer: I think they are using the standard penn pictures,as long as your order say LL model then it will be the bait liner ,I did order the 6000 Ll model and the pictures did not show the rear drag but I received the bait liner model

Answer: If you are asking if the posted picture is of a Live liner reel, the answer is no. The Live liner has a drag adjustment knob on the rear of the reel.

Answer: Yes I run 50lbs spider wire on mine.

Purchased this reel and attached it to a Bulls Bay Infantry rod. Went offshore a few days ago. I have about 250-275 yards of 25 lb test. Hooked into some large bonito, grouper, and a 6ft spinner shark. The reel handled fine. Would recommend if you aren’t wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on a reel that will handle the same.

I bought the 2500 for stream fishing and more importantly for fishing on the reservoir. I was a little taken back by how big it was for a 2500, but it’s not a negative factor at all. I love this reel and I’ve concluded it’s the best reel I’ve ever owned. It’s awesome for fishing with saw bellies, real smooth and just a solid reel all around. Pulled in a monster 8 lb brown within the first hour of using the reel on the reservoir for the first time. I would Highly recommend this reel to anyone and everyone.
