As a sixty-two year old guy who wishes he fished more than he does, I smile as a take this Zebco reel out of its box. It was my late grandfather who introduced me to fishing on the Susquehanna River fifty-five years ago. We used Zebco reels.
It's astonishing to me that a quality starter spinning reel of this kind is available for $20. That doesn't seem possible.

Zebco Spyn Spinning Fishing Reel arrived pre-spooled with 12 lb line. In my opinion, it was over-spooled with too much line. Besides that, the line had a lot of memory. Any slack immediately twisted and kinked. I removed some of the excess line and had better results.

Five0retired : Lightweight Reel at a Lightweight price, for Fun in the Sun !
Zebco Brands have been around since forever(ok 1954). They have always been associated with fishing. You do not survive in the Fishing equipment business for 66 years + if your products are bad. This is a great little, size 30, spinning reel. It is set for lightweight fishing, with a max of 10lb test and it comes pre-spooled with a 10lb test already on the reel(hows that for value). I have married this reel, to a very lightweight pole (8-17lb line recommendation). It has a smooth feel as I spin the reel and I can foresee some great days of fishing with this lightweight tackle. This is a great value and a good way to obtain equipment from a Brand with a Long History in the fishing reel business. This is a good starter reel for someone and a good addition to my fishing arsenal.

This is a very nice reel and especially for the price. Zebco is a very nice brand and this would be a nice starter for anyone. My only complaint is that it isn't big hand friendly. When I go to crank it up it hits my knuckle every time.
