I have been replacing older (20+ year old) Daiwa and Zebco gear that hasn't been well maintained, and taking a look at various reels.
I'm normally an open-face reel kind of user, as I love the flexibility and control I generally feel over a closed spinning reel like the Zebco 202 or 33. This reel is exactly why I like these setups. The unit feels solid, well-built and strong. The drag adjusts easily and the anti-reverse seems to be strong in 'lawn testing'. For as strong as the unit feels, it is incredibly lightweight. I'm not fishing for local lake fish, nothing massive, so the 10lb test is likely more than what I'll need, so I haven't replaced it yet.
Nice product, will acquire again.

It has a firm anti-reverse switch that appears to be more durable than most. The cranking is very smooth and the drag mechanism seems to be good quality as well.
The bail wire is thin, but sturdy enough.
This reel is high quality enough to catch fish and work flawlessly without breaking the bank. The crank handle can be folded in for storage/transport and with the fishing line already spooled, you can slap it on the rod and head to the lake!

Zebco is a well known name to fishermen. This is an open face reel. Not everyone likes them but I learned to fish on one and have no problem using one. This is an inexpensive reel for less than $20. This reel has an adjustable drag, is made for right and left handed use. It has 3 bearings, instant anti-reverse, adjustable drag and all metal gears. The cast and the return are smooth. This is a lightweight reel perfect for fishing for bluegill in a farm pond.

Zebco Brands have been around since forever(ok 1954). They have always been associated with fishing. You do not survive in the Fishing equipment business for 66 years + if your products are bad. This is a great little, size 30, spinning reel. It is set for lightweight fishing, with a max of 10lb test and it comes pre-spooled with a 10lb test already on the reel(hows that for value). I have married this reel, to a very lightweight pole (8-17lb line recommendation). It has a smooth feel as I spin the reel and I can foresee some great days of fishing with this lightweight tackle. This is a great value and a good way to obtain equipment from a Brand with a Long History in the fishing reel business. This is a good starter reel for someone and a good addition to my fishing arsenal.

This is a really nice reel! It is very smooth and I wish I had better words to use to describe just how smooth it is! I think it has three ball bearings in it. It has the automatic anti reverse, which is awesome! When the line starts to pull out, it automatically locks so I cannot accidently unspool more line than intended. This is just the second reel I've gotten like this and I'll never go back to anything other than the automatic anti reverse.
I also like that the handle is collapsible, so I can't break it easily in storage or transport.
I got this for my 12 year old son's rod for Christmas and, honestly, I'm a bit jealous. It's nicer than my own favorite reel (also by Zebco). I think I'm a life long customer now - everything I've gotten from them has been exceptional.

This is a nice open face reel for most of your lake fishing needs. The anti reverse is a nice feature on this reel.
PasoCreek : Look at the price, perfect for spare or loaning. Zebco no longer made in Tulsa.
Zebco was developed in Tulsa, OK USA back in the '60s and very innovative in the fishing tackle market. Their rods and reels took the complication out of bait fishing and hired many employees with a quality product until China started copying the design of the Zebco 33 and eventually forced Zebco to end its Tulsa-based operations and now all manufactured in China. But yet the quality control seems to still be there. When friends come out and want to fish on our farm we hand them a Zebco 33 rod and reel but this is a great choice for anyone wanting to use a spinning reel. Smooth action and for 20 bucks it's a good bargain.
