I guess this is what you might call a "low end" reel, compared to fishing reels generally. It is an inexpensive reel for kids and maybe dads or even moms to use while on vacation and so forth. I understand it has die cast gears inside.

For some reason it seems like serious fishermen I know go with the more complex-to-operate spinning reels, but I've always liked spin-casting reels better, and I like this one. I don't know if there is even such a thing as a "high end" spin-casting reel. This one seems to work fine, die cast gears or not. It looks nice on the outside, too.

A feature of this reel is the reversible handle... the crank has a hexagon drive shaft that can be slipped out and flipped around for left-handed people. Part of this system is a coin-slotted screw that you need to make sure is tight. It has a pretty long threaded section, and I would think the need to tighten it would be very obvious long before it fell completely out of the reel, but maybe not for some people.
