Answer: I have two of theses reels the 1st was made very good metal gear etc the newer one is junk lots of plastic on the inside so I would be careful.
Answer: I have both Classic Pro and Magma models. I use them to troll for salmons and lakers.
Answer: Yes it's very good for trolling
Answer: I have not used it for such but articles I have read would suggest it is
Answer: yes
Q:
how much is the drag capacity of this reel?
Answer: I believe up to 17. i can't find it on that reel but i also have classic pro's and magda's, both in the same reel size class and they are both 17 LBS.
Answer: I use it at about 15-17 # roger
Answer: Garbage, don't buy it. Didn't last one trip. Buy shimano or penn

Answer: The CL-302L has a line capacity of 420yds /20 lb. ( monofilament )
Answer: It's probably mislabeled. It should read 420yds 10lb test. 210yds of 20lb test.
Answer: meaning braided line because it has a smaller diameter
Q:
Does it cast very far
Answer: With30 lb mono and 4 oz wight i will cast about 70 yards with mine.
Answer: I don't usually cast it. But, I have seen one of my friends cast it really far many times. I typically use it for bottom fishing on a party boat.
Answer: Depending on the line you use. I have been using 40lb Cajun and hae been happy with it so far.
Answer: Like any reel its based on your ability and amount of weight you are using. It goes as far as need it too
Answer: fairly far for this type of reel
Answer: NO and if it is the new model it has plastic gears

Answer: Yes it does come with a rod clamp and extra screws.
Answer: Yes, this reel does come with the rod clamp.
Answer: It's been over a year since I ordered a few of these but I want to say that they do come included
Q:
is this reel okuma cl-302l-cl capable of landing a white sturgeon?
Answer: I wouldn’t recommend this reel for heavy fish, because the drag is very touchy. There is a fine line between too little drag and too much drag.
Answer: I have landed a catfish at 75 lbs the real held up good.
Answer: Probably it's a really sturdy reel caught pretty good size fish
Answer: Yes most likely, the build quality I really good i have got some really big aggressive fish on this and haven't had a issue with it so far

Q:
I do a lot of catfishing, mostly from shore but im getting boat soon. would this be well suited or should i opt for the clx-300la instead?
Answer: I purchased the 302L last year and haven’t been been happy with it. The drag isn’t smooth and it’s heavy. I recently ordered a 202L to match my old one, because I like it much better. Unfortunately the 202L isn’t manufactured anymore. You can find one occasionally, but finding a new one is difficult.
Answer: I think the reel is garbage. I'd never buy another okuma product.
Q:
where can i buy parts my drag level brokren
Answer: Stores.tunasreeltroubles.com has okuma parts if you insist on fixing it. I'd take this opportunity to upgrade and replace the reel altogether.

Answer: This model is only available in a right hand retrieve.
Answer: just have to scan through the options it was an option to have it left handed in the description
Answer: I found mine on amazon, but they have some listed on ebay
Q:
What type of rod should be used with this reel?
Answer: Medium light to medium action rod rated for 10-20 lb or 15-30 lb should work great for 1/2 day or 3/4 day fishing. Tight lines.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I iuse a 7ft.ugly stick, medium strength. bought it at bass pro. I have tried others , but this one gives me great casting. Bass Pro $29.00
Q:
is this a left or right hand
Answer: It is right hand spool but when it is used at the boat fishing it can be used not left and right.
Answer: This is a right hand model.
Q:
Can anyone tell me the difference between the 300 la and the 302?
Answer: The CL-300L is a bushing drive reel, when you move to the 302L, this will be a 2 ball bearing reel and you will have stainless steel reinforcing sideplate rings.
Answer: Not good reels. Rusted up after one use.
Q:
Is this reel bigger than the magda pro 20?
Answer: Yes. The CL-302L-CL is bigger than the Magda Pro Ma-20DX
Answer: No idea. But I can tell you this reel is poorly built and don't even consider using in saltwater.
Q:
Any ideas why reel makes loud click and doesn't let line out with bail open and 4oz weight? Used 5 times, always rinse well after fishing in ocean
Answer: take apart and clean and check each part thoroughly. I've had mine for about 4 years no issue and I fish rain sleet or snow. What bail do you mean spinning reels have bails these just have freespool and line guide. Do you mean worm gear
Answer: It sounds like the clicker is engaged. On the side plate, slide the clicker button to the off position. Also, check the spool tension knob on the opposite side to make sure it's not over tightened. If this is not the case, the reel will need to be serviced.
Answer: you need to take the clicker off the little button on the side.
Q:
does this product have a bait clicker?
Answer: Yes, it does have a bait clicker on the side..
Answer: YES, A VERY NICE BAIT CLICKER
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is there a left hand retrieve version?
Answer: Yes, I purchased one
Q:
Why when i pull the arm back to drop line down. Why when I start reeling the arm does not come back up I have to manually move arm up?
Answer: The Classic pro does not feature an auto trip function. It has to be manually engaged.
Answer: AS far as I know that is the way a conventional style reel works at least any of the 20 or so I own work
Answer: That's the way it is designed; Like many other reels. roger
Q:
s this reel the same size as the 20dx model with the line counter......only without the counter?
Answer: Not sure if it is the same as the 20 dx but I already had to send mine back to Okuma - my old model with same model number had metal gears and worked fine This new one I purchased from Amazon my local repair guy did not even want to touch because of its poor quality . Good Luck
Answer: Not sure but they look similiar in size. Mine is still working fine. A buddy of mine was using it on our last trip a month ago and caught a bunch of rock fish and sculpin with a 12 oz sinker.
Answer: Don't know, can tell you this though. I bought two and both are out of commission. Cheap build, didn't last one trip. Go with Shimano or Penn
Q:
Does this item have the aluminum spool like it says in the product info or the graphite spool? There is conflicting info on the same page.
Answer: The Classic reel comes with a graphite spool . The Classic Pro is the reel model that comes with an aluminum spool.
Answer: I believe mine is aluminum
Answer: Bought it for my grandson 12 years old he really likes it works. Like it says
Answer: Aluminum, the entire interior is cheap plastic and regular steel. Rust bucket
Q:
is the cl-302l-cl available in a right handed version? you it in left handed version

John Bruno : Broke first Month
This is my second of this reel I purchased the second one when my repair cleaning service said the insides of my three year old reel was made very well. When the drag and lock features of the new reel failed I went back to the repair shop and was told the insides had been changed mostly plastic. The reel is now back at Okuma but with cost of shipping and return shipping I only hope they meet my request to use parts from the old model or its Trash !

unclassified : Lightweight reel, CS doesnt know their products.
I recently purchased this reel to replace a more expensive reel I was given at a Tournament for Wounded Warrior Project, I figured that the technology has advanced so far that I should be ok if I bought a middle of the road reel, I was wrong.
As I took it out of the package it felt kinda cheap and lightweight but I figured that it was because it has a Graphite spool, wrong...It is very lightweight because its not well made...
I mounted it on a Penn Rod (Think its called the prevail) It didnt fit well, but it fit. ( the mount was a little oversized for the rod)
I noticed that it had a brace for the rod back which was a good thing, or so I thought, i then found out that my reel was missing one of the screws.
I contacted Okuma Customer service through email interface on their site and they got back to me in 2 days, I explained everything and the person told me :
Hello Sir,
Thank you for your interest in the Okuma fishing product line. Unfortunately the part you are looking for is a rivet, not a screw. If you would like to pay the shipping fee's we will replace the reel for you?
Thank you for choosing Okuma,
Eddie Meyer
I wrote him back saying that the part was a screw and he wrote me back again saying that it was a rivet, I'm no longer going to argue with him so I went to a local fishing store here and they had the part and gave it to me for nothing. As I put the brace on, I heard a cracking noise and looked at the brace to notice that it cracked in half! I barely snugged it down, I literally was turning the tiny screwdriver with two fingers!, I called the fishing store back, he told me it was common and he gave me another one for free, he said that the one he gave me was better made and Okuma sent them to him to replace the weak ones they put in the packages. great so now I'm winding on my line (60lb Spiderwire Braid) I noticed that the line isn't tracking quite right, it seems that it isn't going the full width of the spool. I guess its made like that so we'll see how it works. I think that the customer service is ok but not knowledgeable about their products but this reel should be avoided. I'm going to use it until it breaks and then I'll put up pictures of it.
Millrat : Good reel, but larger than I expected.
Slightly bigger than I wanted, but a great reel. I wanted a 200 series for the size, these are no longer available. The drag is really touchy, so 4 stars.
Jeff : Awesome reels
Best reel on the market for the money
AJ : Looks like a quality product
Gift for someone. Looks like a quality product.
Eric Clayton : Great reel for the money
Used these reels for the 1st time over the weekend for a Kingfish tournament, spooled with 30lb mono. They hauled in several fish up to 50lbs. But the true test was hooking into a 9-10' Lemon Shark and fighting it for over 3 hours. The drag held up amazingly well and didn't fade or get hot. We got the big shark to the boat but couldnt get her in before breaking off. This is a great reel for the money.
Amanda : Awesome reel
My husband absolutely loves this reel. Says it reminds him of the old school ones that he grew up with. The ones that was sturdy and made to last, easy to use.
Hes an big time fisherman so believe me hes fussy about fishing stuff, so to say this is a great real is a big endorsement for its abilities to do what was advertised.
SD_TYSON : Five Stars
These Okuma reels are Great! This is my fourth one!
Desrosiers Michel : Défectueux
Très déçu, le levier du frein de tambour ne revient pas à sa position initial, il faut le pousser manuellement vers l'avant pour qu'il puisse fonctionner.
Richard B : Good quality, low price
Good quality, low price. I have
used Okuma products for 10 years . Always a good value.

Dwain F. : Bye, bye expensive tackle
Ordered two. Smooth reels at first, then the lack of quality started showing. Both reels failed while fighting 10 - 12 pound salmon. Upon examination, both were missing small (different) internal parts. One reel's failure caused the loss of all tackle as well as the fish. Careful disassembly and inspection upon receipt is vital. After parts were replaced (no thanks to Okuma) both reels function well as emergency back-ups. That means that I won't use them unless my new, better reels fail.

Kozak : If you are new to fishing stay away from this
Pretty good have enjoyed it before but unless you are only doing Ocean fishing or going after some major cat fish I wouldn’t recommend this product this is made to throw some heavy bates but it does do what it’s made for and it does it well.
diego : Recomendable y buen precio
Buen carrete y recomemdado oara principiantes en este tipo de pesca, no se enreda mucho al momento de lanzar
