I returned my real almost 2 weeks ago. it has been in the ups system for that amount of time, yet i have no refund. how do i get the status on that?

Answer: Covid has everything delayed, they will not refund you until they receive the reel.

Is this saltwater reel?

Answer: Predominately fresh water. Palm sized, built for freshwater cast and retrieve fishing. Does not have the line capacity or strength of saltwater species. Would work well in tidal waters though.

What is the gear ratio for this reel

Answer: If I'm not mistaking you have a choice of gear ratio.

Answer: Like it says in the description,you have to choose the gear ratio you prefer apon purchasing the reel

Answer: 6:8:1. i use this reel for big swim baits and and heavy coverr jigs

Answer: 7.5:1 right hand, 6.8:1 for left hand

Is this the new version or the older version it has the upgraded gear cut but same weak 10lb drag i heard the newer one had 15lb drag

Answer: You will never need more than 10lbs of drag for anything this reel is intended for. Old musky reels had 10lbs of drag and they worked

Answer: I think it is the older version but I'm not 100% sure. I do love the reel. I haven't had any problems with it. I caught a few 5.5lb bass and pulled through grass with no problems. Hope this helps.

Answer: This is the newer one it has the P2 pinion gear in it and the 15lb drag.

What's the difference between the ss1hla and the ssg1hl?

Answer: From my research, the SSG1HL model has been discontinued...and updated the SS1HLA as advertised on Lews website. Both are great reels (I have both) and virtually identical. The SS1HLA has the "new P2 Super Pinion bearing supported pinion gear" as advertised. Lews does not sell the G1HL anymore, but many can still be found on various websites. Note that the "L" denotes a left-hand model. Good luck!

Answer: They will be very similar performance. I prefer lew’s but they are both good.

I just received my 6.8:1 version I bought. Does anybody's reel make a slight rattling noise when reeling? Or a rattling noise when you shake the reel?

Answer: No mine is smooth and has no noise or rattle.

Answer: yes! i actually used 30lbs power pro braid on mine for fishing heavy structure but you can put whatever you like

Answer: Unlike older reels there is no slack in the handle when setting the hook. All of the better quality reels for last 25 years have continuous anti reverse

Answer: China

Can you use this in saltwater?

Answer: I use mine in saltwater for spotted bay bass using 8 pound mono. Strong enough for this type of fishing. I rinse it with fresh water after every use. When needed I break it down to clean and re-lube and oil using YouTube tutorials.

This reel on its own its realky nice. Smooth retrieval and casting. Unfortunately after the first cast the button to release the spool broke on one side. All that hard work and they put the crappiest release button ive ever seen on a pole. Extremely disappointed to see the LEWS name even printed on this reel. Couldve been an amazing reel but they scimped on what they saw as a non essential part they could save a few cents on. Really sucks.

I purchased the 5.6:1 reel to use almost exclusively for crankbaits (I love crankin’). Thus far I have not been disappointed! The reel quality so far seems to be excellent. It’s seen it’s fair share of lake dives attempting to land fish and continues to show excellent performance. The flat style knobs are quickly becoming my favorite (majority of my other baitcasters have the Lews/Wynn knobs). The casting has been superbly smooth. I have had little issues with backlashing. After proper adjustments for lure weight I have had minimum issues with birds nests even when throwing from opposite my strong hand. Overall I am so pleased I want more of this speed spool model to continue to build my desired arsenal.
