Answer: I paired mine with an Uglystik Bigwater Medium-Heavy 20-40, 7ft rod. Perfect fit in my opinion.

5000, 6000 or 8000 for surf fishing?

Answer: All 3 would work, depending on how far you'd like to cast. The 8000 is the biggest and hold more line. No doubt cast farther,

Can i use it for right hand?

Answer: The reel is placed on the rod so that you hold the rod with your right hand and reel in with your left. You can’t flip it around.

What is the Gear ratio?

Looking to buy the spheros 8000 and a rod to go with it. What do you guys recommend if I’ll be using it for mostly boat but sometimes on the jeti?

Answer: It really depends on what you are looking to target. That is a fairly big and heavy reel. If you don't need that big the 6000 may be more appealing. I have something similar to B00QKJTJLG, its a decent rod,fairly light with enough backbone. Plus it has a nice warranty backed by Hurricane Rods. Redbone is a division of Hurricane. Rod choice is many, these are nice reels.

Answer: I have mine on a 7’ Shimano Convergence, medium action. I use it for buck tailing snapper blues and fluke. Also snag and drop bunker foe stripers.

Can i use for offshore saltwater?

Answer: Yes definitely. I use the 20000 and 10000 for 200+ foot deep saltwater fishing...

timrichardson : drag would not work properly

I used the reel for the first time salmon and cod fishing out of Crescent City Ca a few days ago. While adjusting the drag it did not want to tighten up then would tighten up completely. Then again would just free wheel even when the drag was all the way tighten. It seems to start working properly for now. The reel is smooth while reeling, although I am a disappointed and some what worried about it acting up again. I took the spool off and could not see anything wrong. I bought the reel for three day long range school tuna trip out of San Diego and sure I can trust it to perform as advertised.

Tough reel. I use it for surf fishing with 40 lb. braid. It's been dunked a few times, but have rinsed thoroughly each time I've used it and performs great every time. The manual bail takes some getting used to, but doesn't take away from its performance. Would highly recommend.

Poco affidabili
