Why is this so Expensive? you cant even catch big fish

Answer: It is specifically made for ice fishing, and I have seen master angler sized walleye caught on them, so that counts as big fish to me

Answer: Spool components and drag system vary between the BlackBetty FreeFall, and the BlackBetty FreeFall Ghost. The Original FreeFall is the performance model with higher drop control.

I've never used one of these before, can a person use these reels for cast fishing like for summer bass fishing from a boat or from on land???

Answer: You can't cast with this reel, but we have a good number of customers that use it for vertical jigging in different situations.

Answer: The black betty is great for jigging. I haven’t tried to cast with it It would be like using a bait casting reel with all of the benefits and problems that come with that type of reel. It does have a tension for the spool so it could be dialed in the reduce back lash

Answer: Technically yes, it would be like a bait caster, however, they tend to hold about 50 yards of line, so you would be after fish that don’t fight much

I have an eagle claw claw similar to this reel that back lashes constantly. Dies this reel have problems with this too?

Answer: Not if you have the drop speed adjustment dialed in properly on this one.

Drop speed control

Answer: Yes it does have a drop control, however find it easier to control the drop speed using a finger on the line spool. This is the third 13 Fishing freefall reelbthat I have owned and I love them.

Answer: There is a mob on the left side of the reel that allows you to control how fast or slow you would like your jig to drop

Never thought I would spend this much money for an ice fishing reel. Retired and have more time for fishing. The time saved dropping a jig down to the fish is worth the price. Has a lot of backbone. Got it left hand cause that is what I prefer.

Love this reel. Drops down fairly quick even when using light jigs. The inline reel keeps the line from twisting and spinning your bait which equals more crappies in my bucket.

very smooth and great drag. fishing over a flasher you can easily move to where theyre at precisely by releseing the lever at their depth. great for targeting schooling fish or any fish actually. very light so you feel the bite better and dont get tired holding the pole. gave 4 stars cause its all plastic so i dont know about durability and i find its over priced for plastic.
