what is the line capacity? im going to use this for walleye

Answer: Mono 2/180, 4/110, 6/85. I put 50 yds of 10lb power pro ice-tec and there is plenty of room.

Is this only for ice fishing? Or can it be used for crappie fishing?

Do these reels have anti reverse?

How smooth is the drag and poundage

Answer: This reel only has anti-reverse. Note that it does not allow you to backreel. Drag seems to be pretty good. Nice reel for the price.

Great ice fishing reel. It has a long stem for having bigger gloves and it's angled up to keep the line in the eyelets better.

Ice fishing combos may be cheap and easy, but nothing like a good reel like this on your rod. Happy with crank not being metal: internet complains but keeps fingers and my gloves from freezing to metal. I have absolutely no need for reverse when icing (internet complains) tho common on other ice reels. Long neck makes it larger rig than my ice combos, but has no effect (medium size hands) on my hole hopping when flipping the bailer or grabbing line. Like all reels, bailer does better in ice with something other than braid (tho I still use ice braid).

The one reel wouldn’t spin freely it seemed like it would get caught on something. I didn’t feel like dealing with the return so I took it apart and I had to remove some stuff in the way which is annoying. Also some of the plastic components are annoying but then again it’s a $30 reel. I haven’t really used them a much yet but I think they’ll be good.

Good reel at any price. It was a little larger than I anticipated, but the build quality is really good. I expect many years of problem free use. The reel is smooth and the drag is easy to adjust. No reverse, but I’d never use that anyway.

After several trips on the ice I would consider the reel good to go. Size wise it's comparable to a plueger trion 25. The reel doesn't have an anti reverse switch like any normal conventional reel, but that my be due to design. Not a deal breaker for me, but it is what it is. I've only used it in a heated shelter and havent had any problems.

**Update**
On my last outing the plastic teeth that which is part of the handle assembly broke. These teeth fit into the main gear.
Severely disappointing that I've only used this reel a handful of times to have something break. Will be sending this back to Pflueger for warranty. We'll see how they treat it my case.

Unboxing left me disappointed, the reel came in a plastic case rather than a box. My first thought: feels “plasticy”. There are not many metal pieces, it’s painted plastic. The handle and rotor are not smooth, but the drag is decent for a $30 reel. I originally bought it for my St Croix Mojo ice, but I think I’ll stick it on one of my loaner combos and just get another Pflueger President

I'm very happy with my Pflueger reels on my summer rigs, so I went straight to them for a new ice rod.

The good
Butter smooth continuous clutch action. No clicks, grabs immediately.
Very solid feeling.
Bail angles back toward rod to minimize pulsing when reeling

The not so good
Larger/heavier than I expected. I don't mind it so much, but others might.
No backreel switch. I've never used backreeling when landing a fish, so I don't care, but others might.
Folding the crank requires unscrewing the thumbscrew on the opposite side, and it doesn't really lock into place. Could be better.

I gave 4 stars because the action and build quality are top notch, despite the downsides I mentioned. Your mileage may vary.

I love this reel I have two and my bro has three, there on all our tuned up custom rods!!they works great very reliable I pulled almost 200 lbs of Perch in one day and my bro had 180 lbs and bro has caught a 10.56 walleye with the reel , lake trout almost any fish in Lake Champlain! we get laid off in the winter and FISH ALOT there awesome reels for ice fishing!!!SOO glad there no stupid back reel one less thing to f up on it!!!! BUY ONE pflueger reels are awesome check the president reel of there’s for your summer rods I have three of those on all my st.crox rods
