Questions about Shimano TEK500HGLCA Tekota 500 LC Conv. Levelwind Star Drag Reel, RH
Q:
Is the 500 on the small size? Beefy enough for Lake Michigan salmon?
Answer: The specifications on the Tekota reels are the same between sizes in regards to Gear Ratio, bearings, Max Drag, and Retrieve speed. Pretty much the only difference is the size/line capacity and the 500 is rated at 40lb/390 yds which is pretty significant, but if you need more, the 600 size is 40lb/540 yds.
Answer: 500 is big enough for Columbia River Salmon, in fact I use the 300 and have caught salmon over 35 pounds with it.
Answer: That is what I use all 3 of mine for. Is fishing on lake Michigan. Work great for it.
Q:
Capacity of braid lines please...
Answer: 300 of 40lb braid
Answer: 40 lb about 300 yards.
Q:
How much drag does this item have?
Answer: I think it's about 20 lbs. But can stop A salmon.
Q:
Do they make this in LH?
Answer: Yes, it's the 501 instead of the 500 series.
Q:
What model is this reel?
Answer: TEK500HGLCA ... referencing this on Shimano's site shows the 500 line counter model right hand. The picture shows a non-line counter model.
Answer: Shimano Tekota right hand 500 series
Q:
in the product image the line counter does not appear ?
Answer: I think it's a very bad picture. But the counter is nicely out of the way
Q:
Can this reel be cast
Answer: It can but I don't
Q:
Shimano tekota 500a how many oz
Answer: The Tekota 500a is 15.3 oz, and the Tekota 500LCA (line counter) is 16.2. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Q:
Is it available with a left hand retrieve
Answer: yes the 501 Lc is left hand.
Q:
Is the the lc model?
Answer: Geart
Q:
The photo shows a shimano tekota 500 reel, but the description describes it as the shimano tekota 500lc (line counter) variant. which is it?
Answer: Hi, yes it looks like Amazon has the stock Shimano photo for the newer Tekota reel which doesn't show the line counter, but this listing matches up to a Line Counter reel. At least for us it does - most sellers should be matched by UPC which for this listing is the line counter. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Answer: the photo is not a line counter reel. if itwas you could see the counter on the left side of the reel.
Q:
Will you be restocking this item?
Q:
is this line counter reel? photo does not look like it
Answer: Yes it is a line counter
Answer: yes it is
Answer: yes
Q:
Is there a picture of this reel with the Line counter?
Answer: I half not seem one. But reel is really good
Q:
So how does the tekota 500a compare to a torium 16hg?

Q:
Does it have the"clamp"option to attach it to the pole?

Product reviews of Shimano TEK500HGLCA Tekota 500 LC Conv. Levelwind Star Drag Reel, RH
J. Taylor : Best reels I've owned in a while
Had them for about 3 weeks now - I'm a salmon fishing guide so I have 5 of them . 4 are spooled with 50# Power Pro slick 8 coated braid. 1 is spooled with 25# Berkeley mono. The drags on these are smooth and they hold well. I've had one line counter stick a little bit, but that's to be expected with almost all line counters, not sure why.
The reels have held salmon well so far, and I see many more in their future. I could not be more impressed with the stability and reliability of these reels compared to the Okuma ColdWaters that they replaced.
J. White : Quality products
Good value!
Kingfisher : The Best
This is the smoothest, most durable and reliable line counter you can buy.
BBB Farm : Is what it is, good reel
Bought as a gift. Works great
