Where is it made?

Answer: Assembled in Idaho. Probably from parts from all over. Their website says 50% USA manufactured 100% Idaho built

Is it for left hand retrieve ? I need a left hand retrieval.

Answer: They come left hand retrieve but can be switched if needed.

What is the warranty on this reel?

Answer: I have 2 other Landon reels, one is their very first series. They have a lifetime warranty. My original had a break problem years and years after I purchased it. The repaired it free of charge. No problems since.

Does it hold hold up in salt water

Answer: They are listed in the All Water Category on Lamson's website, you should rinse it off with freshwater after each use in salt water.

Answer: I have not used mine in the salt bu tI don't see why not. Be sure to rinse it in fresh water each time.

woodperson : Good reel for the money

Already had a large reel in this series. Liked it. I bought this lighter 3 spool set to get a inexpensive reel that I could try different lines on rods with. Totally frustrated at first. Could not get the spool off. Waited too long to send it back. Finally pry the spool out with a large screwdriver. Surprisingly the reel held and did not break. Fooled with the spools a bit and now I can change them. The drag is great. The reel is fairly smooth. Everything works. The reel is tough. If you want a nicely finished reel that really works smoothly spend more money. I miss the ball bearings in my Gunnison. If you want a cheap reel that really fishes hard and well then this one will do. I would just buy the one with a single spool.

For the money, you get 3 spools, a storage bag for everything, & a reel that has a super easy spool change out system plus Lamson’s very effective drag system.

My target species is Coho (silver salmon) & the reel held up nicely on an Alaska fishing trip this month. I had #8WFF line on 2 spools (1 as a backup) & #8WFS line on the 3rd spool. The extra spools come in very handy.

Bill Landreth : It's a $100 reel, what do you expect!

It's just as advertised........for a little more than $100. As long as you're not going after really big fish it's a great line holder. Most importantly the drag is smooth and consistent for when you do hook a trout with some shoulders. Only time will tell if it's durable. I think it looks a little cheap but it's a $100 reel. The fit and finish is not going to compare with something that's 3X-4X as expensive, but it works for my 3wght and 4wght rods.

Bought this reel (with extra spools) at my local fly shop for 10 less than listed here. I got the -5+. Bought some line too and they set the whole thing up for me with free backing. Love this reel. Very smooth action.

One reviewer lowered their rating because the reel makes a loud clicking noise when reeling in or letting out line. This is easily disabled. Look closely at the image of the spool I attached. The yellow arrow is pointing at a small piece of plastic at the base of the spool axel. To silence your reel action, just bend the clicker piece like I did (or you can remove it entirely by snipping it off where it connects at the plastic base). Doing either will not hurt the reel in any way. The clicker is only there to make the clicking noise (some fishers like that feature). Since this reel comes with 3 spools, try this on one of the spools and see if you like the silence. I made this mod on all three of my spools because I find the clicking distracting when trying to enjoy some solitude on the river.

I paired my reel with an Echo Carbon XL rod #6 and Cortland WF6F line with a 9ft Rio 2X Leader/Tippit attached. This is a terrific combination and works great for me.

I like the way the reel look and operated, Very easy to switch from left hand to right hand retrieve. On down side is that the retaining cap for the drag came loose while fishing once. Changing spool pieces is also very easy and works well.
