Answer: yes...no problem,I have a small head boat in bar harbor ,maine....we use 20lb big game line and use on 6 1/2 and 7 ft rods. keep them lubed good and they'll be fine. I have 40 of them.

Overall a great and durable reel. On the less expensive side. the gears were rough smoothing till I oiled them. But I have had one longer than others that were more expensive. For bass and deep sea fishing, I spend more on the reels. For catfish and blue gill and perch, its great.

Bought several 10s and 20s for all my crappie setups. Reels are simple, no fuss, instant anti-reverse, and are balanced well. Sure the aren't 10 bearing unit smooth, but they are more than ample and have held up well through 2 seasons of HARD crappie fishing. At $25 a pop, I feel like they are money well spent.

Size 20: Awesome, reliable reel. Caught a 12 pound Chinook running up the river a few fall's ago and this reel was perfect, even with a 6lb mainline. Boy was I surprised to see a salmon (first ever) on the end of the line!

The reel is incredible. I bought it for my dad and it is super smooth and works incredible. Definitely get it. If you want a bass reel get the 20-30 size and compared to a Shimano size ten is a little larger than the Shimano 1000 and so on.

Heri : It is not anti-reverse. Not smooth

Reel goes backwards before it locks. This is not anti-reverse. Instructions indicate that there is a switch to activate the anti-reverse option on the bottom of the reel. There is no switch anywhere on this reel! Not smooth at all; you can hear grinding. This issues are demonstrated in the video. Pictures are to show there is no switch. This are the two things I was looking for to be true; disappointed but not shocked; based on price.

Don't let the name fool you. This reel is a POS.

I went shore fishing and it didn't even last a single day. Spooled with 30lb braid, a 3oz pyramid sinker and a simple fish finder rig, and the clutch snapped after about 10 casts. A size 80 reel shouldn't break after such typical use.

Save your money and avoid this reel at all cost.

I bought this in Size 10 to use 4# line on my light rod. I don't have any experience bringing in a fish with it yet but it casts and retrieves lures very well.

Although I'm not going to return it there is one feature I really don't like (hence the 3 stars). I expected when the bail lock is on that the bail would stop in the casting position like my other open-face spinning reels. It does not. Wherever you stop cranking is where it stops. That means when I use it locked I have to watch carefully where I stop it to position for the next cast. If I'd realized this I wouldn't have bought it.

Still, it's a nice little reel that should be good for many years.

I bought two Optix 60’s last year when I wanted a few cheap spare Chesapeake striper setups for guests. They worked great for hard fighting 10-15lbers and went on new ugly sticks to become my choice rods. I rinse them down after saltwater use and they still perform and look like new. No issues with the drags or anti reverse like some older model reviews.

Not high quality but high performance! I am on year 3 on a optix 10. Have caught hundreds of fish on it including bass to around 3 lbs. I only use 4 & 6 lb test on this reel. For the $20 it cost it was a very good value!

After having the reel for a couple of months I feel I can write a accurate review. At first the reel appeared to be smooth in its action and brought 5-15 lb fish in with ease. I bought this 8000 series reel to handle larger fish like bull reds and King mackerels. The reel was not able to keep up with the demands I place on it fishing. 30-40lb redfish crippled the reel. One bull red and springs popped out of the reel and rendered the reel unusable. The penn fierce 5000 works much better than this 8000 series reel does. Spend the extra $60 to get a penn fierce at minimum. I have replaced this reel with a penn battle II 6000.
