Lew’s Fishing Mach 1 Speed Spool SLP Combo

The Mach I Speed Spool SLP Combo is perfectly balanced. The rod is a one-piece IM8 graphite blank that sports a Winn Dri-Tac Handle, Lew’s custom graphite reel seat and guides constructed with durable stainless steel frames and aluminum oxide inserts. The reel was designed after our ever-popular SLP frame platform, which is 10% smaller than traditional speed spools. Internally the Mach I has solid brass Speed Gears and a 8-bearing system that is always smooth.

Combo Features


Zero Reverse Premium 8 bearing system with stainless steel double shielded bearings and Zero Reverse one-way clutch.	Speed Gears Speed Gears are cut on the finest Hamai CNC machines, resulting in precise gear interface for smooth cranking power and less wear. Making your reel last longer.	Multi-Setting Brake (MSB) Features both an externally-adjustable, full-release magnetic braking system as well as an internally adjustable centrifugal brake system. The magnetic brakes give consistent braking throughout the entire cast and are adjusted by the palming sideplate dial. The centrifugal brakes provide initial braking at the beginning of the cast to reduce backlash and can be turned off to reduce braking by removing the palming sideplate and pushing the white pin(s) towards the center of the spool until they click. To turn them back on push the white pin(s) away from the center of the spool until they click.

Answer: If the crank is on the right side it is a right handed reel. If on the left side it is a left handed reel! This is not the case with spinning reels! A crank on the left side of a spinning reel is a right handed reel! Hope this helps

Answer: Completely depends on how you fight the fish and what line your using. If you are fishing braid you can land any freshwater fish under 30 lbs if you really play them smart.

Just getting back to fishing, and this is my first bait caster combo since I figured out I didn't know how to use the last one about 65 years ago. How things have changed! Love to throw this thing around. Adjust the settings to the lure/bait weight, cast a few times in the yard and go fishing! This is a 7 foot one-piece rod, and the medium fast is a good all around choice. The reel is 7.1/1 ratio, and I use 8 lb braid and a fluorocarbon leader. It's the only bait caster I have right now, and is a perfect partner for my Shimano spinning rig I use for lighter baits.

Great combo! Word of advice for those who don’t know, if you use braided line be sure to have a mono leader. We thought the drag was messed up and come to find out after researching, it was the braided line slipping on the reel.

I bought two of the lews mach 1 combos they both worked fine , today the reel on one of the mach 1 s stoped working the drag would not engage and could not be adjusted the reel is not useable unless you want to reel the fish in by hand.
