This is a very real and meaningful way to thank a soldier. Just look at what we've been able to do so far!
I will donate my time, cork, epoxy and thread for another build.

I wasn't going to ask, but I am totally stoked you want to be a part of this. Thank you again, amigo.
On another note, when I first got into this rod building thing a couple of years ago, i bugged Scott unmercifully with questions. He was always gracious enough to take time to give me detailed answers to every dumb-arse question I could conceive. I would not have made the progress I have without his long distance assistance. And I hope , one of these days, to be able to post pics of a rod I've built that looks half as good as what he routinely puts out.
To all the Warriors who will be receiving rods in the future: and I hope there will be many; if you get rod from me, know that you got the best I can do, and I know it will serve you well. If you get one from Scott, well, you will have received an heirloom.
Wow. Thank you. As nice as some think my work is, there are guys out there doing stuff I can only dream of!

Doesn't matter how good you are at what you do; there's always somebody better.

I can't produce the artist pieces like some of you guys, but I'm happy to do what I can. I will be honored to help on the next go round.
I personally want to thank everyone involved in this. As I told Kent, it makes me proud to be part of a group that goes beyond a simple 'Thank You' when it comes to recognizing the efforts of those that have served by honoring them with a special gift. If you plan on doing this on a regular basis, please count me in for whatever you may need. All you have to do is ask.
@roadwarriorI tried to send you request for info via PM but not sure if it went thru. First time using it...

Glad to help a fellow Vet receive a quality rod!
Thank you, all of you who have contributed. I hoped, this time around, we could make this an ongoing process. And, it's looking like that could very well happen.
And, I want you all to know, that as long as contributions keep coming, I will keep donating my time and supplies. I will build as many rods as you all want to fund. What else is an old, retired professor good for anyway?
Contribution received.
Thank you!

I just want to say Thank You to everyone involved with this. Kent told me I am the first one to receive one of these. What a work of art it is. It's almost too pretty to fish. I served 16 years in the Air Force and work for the Army as a civilian now. I've never had a day pass in my adult life that I wasn't serving in some capacity and it will probably stay that way until I retire for good. I will definitely be contributing to this project as well as a pay it forward. There is no way I would have the memories, friendships, education, and what I consider an amazing life without the military. Again, Thank You all so much.
Glad you like it. Hope it serves you well.
For inquiring minds: an almost all Batson build.
Rainshadow Immortal blank, 6'8" M-F
AlpsmTextouch reel seat
Forecast MK mini guides
Batson winding checks and hook keeper.
just wanted to say thanks GHOTI. if everyone else is like me I think that we are getting just as much enjoyment seeing these fine people receive these rods. they certainly deserve it!

Very nice!
Thanks Lonnie. I enjoy being able to contribute, in my own small way. I've been building rods for two years now, and I'm not that good at it. But, I am getting better; a little bit at a time.

All of ya’ll are doing a great thing with this! I’m retired Army and am blessed to be in a position to start building rods at a buddy’s local bait & tackle shop here in Muldrow, Oklahoma. I want to get involved but I am ‘no s**t’ just starting, waiting on my first kit from Mudhole lol. I’ll keep up with ya’ll and hopefully I can contribute something to my brothers & sisters in arms.
Kevin
I finally caught a good fish on it. I never throw hard jerkbaits and only throw the soft ones on hot windy days. It finally lined up today.
Is This continuing? I did lots of fundraising for Wounded vet charity as an endurance athlete. I would be interested in this project.
Yes and we have a couple of rods "in process". Donations are GREATLY appreciated!

Wow, this sounds a lot like the original "soldier rods!!" Awesome that the spirit of giving inside BassResource.com continues!!
I sure miss the ol' gang! Looks like you all are in fine shape and caring for our next generation of soldiers... a salute to all involved!!!!!
WOW!
I can't tell you how honored and humbled I am to receive this. Little things are big things and the timing couldn't be better given some medical issues that need tending to soon. This community is something special and my hat's off to those that do the heavy lifting and the elders that share their knowledge. Thanks, from a gratefull Marine...
How does a veteran register for this awesome charity? I served 26 years in OUR USAF with 13 combat tours and it just humbles me to see folks like you given your time, money, and heart to this cause. I served all of the American people but it's folks like you all who carry on the core value of service before self. Thank you all. ~Mike
Thank you for your service.
Recipients are recommended by our membership. Generally we are looking for active participants
that have been on the Forum for some time. We do not consider our Warrior Project a charity, but
simply recognition of our appreciation for those that have served. It is not a lottery and we do not
make these gifts for just joining the site. Activity and longevity are important factors.

I would normally say" welcome aboard", but "wheels up" may be more appropriate.????
It's almost MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Just wanted to remind everyone that is interested in our Warrior Project that we are still
actively working on awarding custom rods to select members. If there is a member you
would like to recommend, please send me a PM.
Also, our project is funded by Bass Resource members. All of our volunteers work without
compensation so 100% of all donations go into the build. If you would like to contribute please
send me a note.
Thank you!

What you folks are doing for my fellow veterans is awesome... It's been years since I've been on this site and I just seen this thread... it put a big smile on my face to see you folks care so much about our military service!
This is really awesome!!
Oh wow!! As a US Army combat veteran it makes me so happy to see you all doing this!! Fishing has helped me in so many ways since I got out of the army. So you all being able to help fellow soldiers and vets is amazing!
