Knee highs? Better than that, they are hip boots. That was on Lake Antioch East at Rocky Mountain Recreation Area in Georgia. It was the end of March, and it was chilly. I'm used to wearing them for launching, and often leave them on when the weather is cool or cold. I'm also wearing a pfd beneath the foul weather jacket.

Endless love the pic of that MONSTER bass, with the serious face!...lol...
Here's a scary photo. In the fall it was not uncommon to see a lone migrating bird that was obviously not going to make it. They'd land on the boat, scrounge around feeding on the tiny critters that would come up on the line or the traps. They were so exhausted they had no fear. It was either risk the boat with humans on it, or fall into the sea. Maybe the wild hair on my head and face looked like a nest.

mnbassman, I am going to use a comment you posted above her pick, "Shes pretty" good at fishing, I have to ask, both of my girls love to hunt and fish, my youngest loves to fish, my oldest loves to hunt, they each will do both and clean and butcher their own deer, but did she get into doing these things with you or did she get these things from her dad? great pics by the way and thanks for sharing !!

Thanks for the kind words Nitro! That is great to hear that your girls love to hunt and fish, and even do the "messy" part of the hunting and fishing is very impressive! I thank my soon to be father in law all the time for introducing my better half to the outdoors, it makes for a great life for me and I continue to share that passion with her.
Candice, my fiance, loved to fish when I met her. Her dad taught her how at a young age and it carried through her entire life. As for hunting she did not know how to shoot any kind of firearm or bow, but she enjoyed tagging along. Her dad only gun hunts and my fiance does not like shooting guns so she chose to not hunt, but to go along to watch. I took her bow hunting the first year we were together and after seeing me shoot a deer she instantly wanted a bow. I bought her a bow the following spring, she practiced her butt off all summer, and that following fall she shot her first deer. She's been addicted ever since! She now talks about bows and pro hunters like we do on this site about fishing.
I guess as long as were showing off hobbies, heres 2 of me skating. These were taken a couple of years ago. Ive gained some weight since then and I slowed down with it a lot. Tried to skate a couple months ago and my body is just not accustomed to it anymore. It really takes a toll over the years. Im only 27 and my knees are pretty much shot. Its a shame cuz I really really loved it but I suppose its for the best. I couldn't afford it if I got hurt and with a hobby like that your always pushing yourself to go bigger and you just never know.
I skated for 20 years. Gave it up in my early 30s. Now you'll only catch me cruising on a longboard.

It was rollerblading actually. A lot of the time when Id show up at a skatepark Id hear the skateboarders talking crap but that usually stopped when they saw me throw down. I never really understood the rivalry. I just always figured to each his own. I tried skateboarding and was terrible at it but I just had knack for rollerblading so thats what I went with.

I know. Never got that rivalry thing. They're both sports based around individual expression.

X's 2. That first pic is great. But I can't help wondering if Red Bull and sniper rifles really go together. Not that I know what Im talking about or anything but doesn't that seem counter-productive?
My mistake. I don't know how I missed those big ol' drum mags. Definitly not sniper rifles. I guess the red bull would be appropriate after all.

Francho is correct. It is a '66 three deuces, four on the floor, 3.07:1 positraction rear end, convertible, rally wheels w/TigerPaw tires, and am/fm radio.
Sticker Price: around 3000 dollars.
Four of us went to Florida in 1967. With the 3.07:1 rear end we averaged about 21 mpg.

This is what I do now. All the color is in the gel coat. The only paint is on the chassis.
The car above took first place in the race car division at the World of Wheels car show in Boston 1996. The next four winners were also cars with my bodies on them.
The car below is made using four colors, yellow, light orange, dark orange and red. The light orange is used for the back of the fender, the front of the door, and the A columns on the roof. The dark orange is used at the rear edge of the doors, the front of the quarter panels and the rear columns of the roof. That way, when a panel gets wrecked it's easy to make a replacement panel that will match the mating pieces. The blending of the colors is done bye eye from experience. It doesn't have to perfectly match the panel on the other side since you cannot see both at the same time. But, as you can tell from the roof, the blending pretty well matches the lower body panels. Ditto for the hood. Unfortunately the front of the hood is just sitting on top of the lexan strip under which the nose of the hood fits. The finish also has a Spindrift red gold metalflake in a clear gel coat which is the first thing sprayed into the mold.
It would cost more to get the body painted to look like this than what I charge for the complete body, around 1500 dollars.

Cars? Don't know if it's a classic, but here's one I've been driving for 40 years, 4 months, and 20 days (bought it new in '72). It relates to this thread since I use it to go fishing about once a week or so (in fair weather). In these shots, it's always got at least 3 or 4 rods in the back and is parked at my local lakes.

Nitro- she was born blind in that eye. She developed glaucoma which wasnt a problem because she couldnt see out of it anyways. But then her intraocular pressure shot up and was causing her problems with BOTH eyes. We decided to remove her bad eye and it has so far proven to be a good choice. Her other eye is doing much better already. Thanks for asking.

Thanks - but I'm not sure "pampered" is a descriptive term. "Maintained" might be more accurate. It was parked outside for 14 years. It was my daily driver for the first 17 years, a "twice-a-week" driver for the next 19 years, and a ~"once-a-week" car for the last 4 years. It's had three engines - one a 331ci SBC. She's hauled all my gear to my various hobby interests all these years. It's been driven down gravel roads, dirt roads, and no roads to get to where I needed to go. It was repainted once, in 1987. It gets washed every once and a while. No fancy treatments - no tire black or foo foo stuff.
Just drive....

Been there, done that. That was one of the engines I mentioned above "331ci SBC." From 1977 to 1982 it had a 327 Chevy small block, .040 over = 331ci. 11:1 TRW forged pistons, 2.02 heads, solid cam, Edelbrock Tarantula intake, Holley 650 double-pump carb, headers.... I thought it was great fun. Unfortunately, the state of California smog laws caught up with me and it was back to a 6-cylinder after 1982 - but at least it was a 2.8 liter 6 instead of the original 2.4.

Pretty "classy" 'ole fishin' car - huh...

Yeah most up here are rusted and rotted out pretty bad. I would love an old z either 240,60,80 just not the 280zx. I used to have a '91 300zxtt but always wanted the older datsuns even a 510 would be sweet. I would put a modern engine in it though either a SR20 or RB25/26 real clean and stupid fast.
That Datsun brings back some good memories, wonder what she's up to?...
That is one heck of a striper!!!

Nice Rock!
I was never into Z's, but I was in 510 club back in high school. Wish I still had mine. My father drove a 620 pickup until the mid-eighties that finally crapped out at just over 600,000 miles (to the moon and back, and then some.) I think the truck was a '73 or '74. It was a dually, which I'm assuming is pretty rare nowadays. Goose52's Z is a fine example, nice ride.

I had a 510 wagon and traded it in on the Z-car - wish I could have kept it all this time. Yep - SR20 in the wagon for sure. For the Z, I don't know if you saw the earlier post, but I had a 331ci SBC in it for 5 years - about 365 (gross) horsepower - no RB26s available back then.

I loved the 620 pick-up - especially the King-Cab...which was the first extended cab truck on the market. The 620 is another Datsun I wish I had. Only have room for the Z-Car though so no other classic Datsuns in my future.
Just to keep this post fishing related - another shot of the Z last week at a local lake.

Thanks, we're lucky we get to fish the ocean off NY and the Chesseapeake Bay. The last few years has seen some very large fish, I'm convinced the record will be broken again in the next several years.

I did see that about the smallblock ya stuffed in it. Iv seen them with just about everything stuffed under the hood. Not a z but close the garage I used to wrench at one of the other guys had a Opel GT we "stuffed" a ford 460 into that had the block filled and bored out I don't remember the final displacement but it was insane ran a 7.8 something in the quarter I know her broke the 8second mark with it shortly after the swap.
I look for old datsuns all the time it's like on the top of my wish list. In fact I'm gonna go scour eBay and trader for one lol.

Ah - it's nothing but a roll-bar, not a cage. You remember the old Chevy ad - "Body by Fisher"? Well, Datsun is "Body by Reynolds Wrap." The unit-body is really thin. That was good and bad, the car was about 2,500 lbs with the SBC in it - that was good. But, with the SBC I had enough torque that the unit body was twisting. I have wrinkles in the firewall from flexing and the back-end was winding up. I put the roll-bar in the back to stiffen up the unit-body back there. Plus, I was just crazy enough back then that ending up on my roof was a small possibility. When a Z-Car rolls, the A-pillars usually always collapse, sometimes the B/C-pillars as well. I wanted at least something to keep the roof off my head. Back then I used to run a comp seat and 4-point harness as well - those are gone but I left the bar in since it's not in the way.

Yes that is a 69. It also has a 490 in it. With twin Holleys. A few other things, I also converted it from an auto tranny to a Hersh 4 on the floor,& dual exhaust out the back. Every thing has been done over, the only thing I have left to do is put a wood bed in it. She gets up and goes.

Thanks, living in northern Wisconsin it doesn't see a lot of driving. I think I only had it out 4 times this last year. I did alot of work to this to get it to where it is at.
This picture was taken this summer at a local parade that I decided to drive it in for a pick up vehicle and water cooler hauler. With the 490 she has a lot of snort, every guy over the age of 50 gave me a thumbs up. All the young guys grin when I rev the engine. Being the safety manager at a local plant and I was apart of my companies float procession I kept from smoking the tires for all of about the first 4 blocks out of the 18 block parade. Until a WWII vet walked up to the truck and told me it was the nicest vehicle in the parade. Then he asked me to light it up. I graciously said, I can't. I shook his hand. He walked away and my wife gave me the evil eye. I said "What?" She said "Honey, he is a veteran!" I called out to him and asked if he was a veteran to which he waived his hat. I smiled and thanked him and told him "This one is for you!" Then I roasted the rear end which is very easy to do.
I then got the evil eye from all the employees from my company on the float in front of us as a large cloud of smoke enveloped them....
This truck actually replaced my Heritage Softail. As my wife doesn't like me riding anymore since I laid the bike down.
Nice ride and great story man !!
Thanks a lot for sharing that with us !!!
here i am
