The time has come for the 2019 Fantasy Fishing season to begin. For those unfamiliar, we have been doing this for a few years now as a fun way to compete and have a little fun among all our members. Do you think you have what it takes to take home 1st place for the season?
Group Name: BassResource

We encourage all members to play along. Just pick your anglers prior to each BASS Elite event and share them (or don't) with the group. It's all part of the fun!

Excited to get the season started
I wonder why fan is blocked on fantasy?
I'll probably joing, when's the first event?

I pm'd a mod immediately once I made the thread. Hopefully they can fix it for us.
First event is in 2 weeks. Do your research and put a team in!
Edit - Thank you @J Francho
I'm in!
I knew there would be a lot of unfamiliar names but it really stands out looking through the roster here.
Heres my team . One Elite angler , 1 FLW Canadian , 2 from eastern Opens and 1 from central open .There is a reason I picked each one , they were not just drawn out of a hat . LOL
A | Drew Cook Midway, FL | - | |
B | Jeff Gustafson Keewatin, NT | -
C | Brandon Lester Fayetteville, TN | -
D | Garrett Paquette Canton, MI | -
E | Brad Whatley Bivins, TX |
I am in. I don't know many of these guys but a little research will do me good this weekend
I'm in, no research required.

Well my picks were drawn out of a hat and here is the hat to prove it....
let's see who wins this. Now its personal!
I did no research my first year, just went with gut/whim. And I bombed.
I did pretty extensive research my second year and finished pretty high overall, and within the top 5 of the BR group.
I did a lot of research again last year.....and bombed again.
So. Gonna try the hat thing this time, too.

Wheres the info on that one
We're up to 21 members so far. Keep signing up guys and gals! Last year we had over 80 participants.
I'm in. I picked all Louisiana boys just to see what happens.

With all the new faces, its hard to know who to pick. I like your approach, may have to do the same.

I'll have at least one of the Canadians on my team as well.
I think the new FLW Canucks are going to do well this year.
This year it's going to be hard to even do research, so many new faces who don't have pro experience on any of these bodies of water. Add to that FLW doesn't fish many of the same lakes as BASS, the remaining Elite guys are the only ones with much history to research. Should be a fun year!

Don't discount these guys skills just because they aren't a household name yet. I think by mid year, we're all going to have an eye opening experience whenever we realize that some of these new guys are the real deal.

I picked Hubnall. Randomly started following him in social media a few years ago and am rooting for him
I'm in. No rationale on my team. Just winging it. Other than drew Benton. He seems like a good choice.
Like @ohboyitsrobby, I am pretty much winging it...
I am winging it as well, although I did pick Mueller because he is a local for me , this is my first attempt at Fantasy Fishing
Grp | Angler | ||

B | Derek Hudnall Baton Rouge, LA | -

We have 3 of the same guys picked.
Just put my picks in as well
I think this year, at least the first couple tourneys, will be interesting with a lot of lesser known anglers being showcased. Will make it fun
I'm in
We're up to 36 members playing along. Still plenty of time to get entered before the first tournament.
Has anyone seen @Senko lover lately?
First tournament kicks off on Thursday and we're up to 55 members! Be sure to get your picks (or roster changes) submitted before Wednesday night.
I just checked our group and I am in the TOP TEN!!! Probably for the last time this season. I guess it pays to register early.
Good Luck Everyone.
I've started to notice how many familiar faces I'm recognizing from 3+ years of FLW Fantasy Fishing.
Here's the two rosters I'm mulling over
A: Drew Benton or Matt Arey
B: Jeff (gussy) Gustafson or Seth Feider
C: Brandon Lester or Chris Johnston
D. Kyle Monti or Chad Morgenthaler
E: Clark Wendlandt or Caleb Sumrall
I signed up for the TW group cause I couldn't believe the prizes they give away at the end of the season. Just noticed this thread and signed up.
Looking at the ownership percentages on the BASS website. Looks like lots of guys are picking off of names they know, and not paying attention to past Florida performances. It should be interesting to see how some of the househould names that stuck around fair out against these fresh faces in these Florida waters.

I'm one of them. I've watched a few FLW and BASS tournaments on TV but the channel switched from a fishing only channel to hunting and fishing. I'm going to do some research until Wed, see where it takes me.
I'm in.
1) Rick Clunn, just because.
2) Seth Feider, hungry, much improved, ready to make a move.
3) Stephen Kennedy, competitive no matter where he is.
4) Kyle Monti, local talent
5) jay Yelas, veteran, has had decent success in Florida.
Here's my best guess for week one.
Here's who I went with:
Senko lover isnt in .
Got Benton, Hartman, Lester, Prince and Shryock. No clue how they will do over the 4 days. Put my weight at 90 lbs.
Well, already not looking too good for me...
Johnny Crews with a nice bag going. That's surprising for me to see from him in Florida. Good for him.
My dark horse pick, Robbie Latuso, with less than 1% of the picks, is sitting in 6th currently.
Keith Combs
Jeff Gustafson
Chris Johnston
Cliff Prince
Jason Williamson
Combs
Feider
Chris Johnston
Prince
Zaldain
How are the cuts going to work this year ?
I'm in
I just guessed at my roster, and I’m surprised I am actually in 33rd so far haha
On 2/8/2019 at 9:36 AM, scaleface said:How are the cuts going to work this year ?
After Day 2, the cut is the top 35 and then the top 12 advance to the final day.
Our fantasy scores will be higher overall because you will never have a bomb end up in 100 something place. Worst now is 75th, which is worth 125 points. Last year, you have someone in the hundreds, he would get between 57 - 75 points depending on his exact place. The high scores will not be alot higher (per event), but the low scores will be much higher.
After day 1: 80th% overall, 14th in BR group.
I was worried that "picked the wrong Johnston" would be this year's version of "picked the wrong Lane" from years past...but happy to see both Chris and Cory show up big so far.
I picked the wrong Drew , the wrong Brandon and the wrong Canadian
On 2/8/2019 at 10:19 AM, OCdockskipper said:then the top 12 advance to the final day.
I am pretty sure i heard them say top ten on sunday. could be wrong though.

I knew the Saturday cut was 35, but was just assuming Sunday was 12 (since the opens go top 12 on the last day as well). Statistically, it makes more sense to go from 35 to 10, so you may be correct.

It looks like four of us are tied for 14th at 1,126 points...
John Crews Missile to the top of the ranks, Zaladain's doing alright
My guys are all over.
57, 33, 1, 66, 38
Finally got power and wifi back....going to check my picks next
Most of my anglers moved up today or held ground have four fishing tomorrow
I had originally picked clunn but them swapped him last second. Lol

Who did you pick in his place ? I never swap because I have done the same thing .
I had Chris Johnston and Brandon Lester wrote down for bucket B and picked Lester . He finished 12th so it wasnt to bad .

Combs, who sucked it up
An ok start: 77th percentile overall, 14th in the BR group.
Just wish I had taken somebody other than Combs for Bucket A (yup, I had him too). He has now done that to me 3 or 4 times in a row in the events that I've picked him.
Wow, just checked the schedule again -- back-to-back events with Lanier happening immediately this week.
My Lake Lanier lineup .
Tied for fourth in the group and in the 890’s overall. Not the greatest start, had Gustafson not bombed day 1 I might be looking at lot better. I’m ready for this week to start though.

Same, Im about done with Combs
What an event. Congrats to Clunn for getting it done. And I'm in the same boat with Combs. He's so inconsistent. He can be top 5 at a lake one event, bottom 20 next time there, and then top 10 again next time there. He burns me every time I pick him.
In other news, the Lake Lanier tournament starts on Thursday. So you only have 2.5 days to get your picks submitted for that.
This is my new one, I don't know why I kept Benton and Kennedy. They better not let me down this time.
how do you guys pick? Do you guys read the articles, your favorites or locals?

A crystal ball, a divining rod, and some tarot cards.
@Mr. AquariumDice and chicken feet
On 2/12/2019 at 3:56 AM, Mr. Aquarium said:how do you guys pick? Do you guys read the articles, your favorites or locals?
I base my picks on guys who are local(ish) to that body of water, past history on a body of water, and style of fishing that lake may favor to an angler (is it a flipping lake? river system? smallmouth lake? deep cranking?) and try to pick the best that I can.
But what do I know? I'm in 68th of the 74 guys here who are playing.
I just go with hunch and I suck at it .For instance I'm picking Cappo this next tourney because it may be a finesse spotted bass event and he is so huge most people will think he cant fish that way ., and he might not be able to , I dont know but that is my hunch . Plus he is a firefighter and so am I .
@scaleface had not heard he was a FF, are you structure or wildland? Wildland guy here.

It's the facial expression -- this is clearly a man of great determination.
I wish I knew what the lakes setup like, IE: Offshore, shallow grass, flipping pitchin, Cranking, Smallies, spots, Largmouth. Also with these new guys, I don't know who what their strong game is.
Like Greg Hackney, Flipping pitching, But Palinuk is a Smallie guy.
Ive played this for several years and havent figured out a good way to pick them.. The first year I done fairly well and thought, "Im pretty good at this".. Ive sucked every year after that.. Im thinking the "Out of a hat" method may be best for me..
Heres my Lanier Lineup! You guys may want to stay away from my team because I usally jinx them if I pick them..
Kelley Jaye
Micah Frazier
Mike Huff
Jamie Hartman
Paul Mueller
Glad I picked Clunn at SJR. Lanier should be interesting depending on how big the Spots weigh and if Largemouth are staging up. I'm betting on Spots but if not I'm in trouble????
Good pick on Clunn .I picked him three times in the past and he finished in the 90s and 100s . Twice he didnt even bother to weigh-in , so I'm reluctant to select him .
Had Drew Benton originally but changed to Clunn day before. Completely changed team based on Lanier. Kyle Monti burned me pretty good so he's out for season????
On 2/13/2019 at 3:23 AM, scaleface said:Good pick on Clunn .I picked him three times in the past and he finished in the 90s and 100s . Twice he didnt even bother to weigh-in , so I'm reluctant to select him .
He's done that a lot in recent years. I always refuse to pick him because he's known to not even show up at weigh in's if he knows he doesn't have a chance of making any money.
Fished a team tournament once at our local lake with a guy that did that, he loaded boat and left during weigh-in at ramp I was shocked????
I scored like 950 points and said to myself "Hey not too shabby" then realized i was like in 30%....like oh crap I forgot its not the same.
Anyway...my squad for next week
Crews: has history on lake both tournament/fun fishing
Cobb: good hx on lake
Williamson: an angler i expect to be bucket A and can sling a jerkbait
Hartman: no way a bucket D angler
Gustafson: no way an E angler and a good hx on lanier
My strategy this year is to find hungry young pros looking to fill power vacuum in BASS
On 2/13/2019 at 10:17 AM, Montanaro said:I scored like 950 points and said to myself "Hey not too shabby" then realized i was like in 30%
It sounds a lot better if you think of it as being in the upper 70 percent .????
A. Wendlandt
B. Cobb
C. Davis
D. Kennedy
E. Gustafson
Lanier blasts off tomorrow morning. Be sure to submit your team before the end of today!
I got my team in, thought I was gonna do better in the first tourney
I had mixed results with the Canucks as Chris Johnston was a good pick and Gussy bombed.
So I picked Gussy again .... hahahaha no wonder i'm not any good at this
In here is my line up
My squad for this event.
Cliff Pirch
Seth Feider
Chris Zaldain
Bill Weidler
Jeff Gustafson
My group is all over the place again.
62, 7, 58, 40, 50.
It's a tight race though. 60th and 7th place are only 5 pounds apart.
Doing pretty good so far. All my anglers are in the top 20 but that can change by the end of the day.
Just joined the group but I forgot to set my roster for Lanier....it’s upsetting because I don’t get reminders anymore from BASS to set my roster. I even have email reminders turned on? Anyone else not getting upcoming tournament and roster reminders through BASS?
@J.Vincent might want to check your spam or junk folder and see if your reminders are going there

I get them, so it must be your spam filter on your email or something.
You can always subscribe to this thread. This is a pretty active thread and is probably the best reminder you can have for FF.
I didnt have one angler make the cut .
Gustafson killed me today. My other 4 guys made the cut though.
A big ol' "meh" this week so far:
7th, 32nd, 34th, 41st & 48th.
I was out all day, so I avoided looking at Basstrak or catching bits of the weigh-in on my phone. Having the leader and a couple of guys in the top 20 yesterday gave me some hope, all I needed was my bottom two to slide into the cut. So I start at the top of the leaderboard & see that Mullins has passed my man for the lead. No problem, go through the top 10, none of my guys there (uh oh), top 20, still none (oh crud), ding, one at 23 & one at 26. Okay, now all I need to see is Gussy & my other two guys inside the cut...
Thbpbpthbpthbpbpthbp...well, that sucked.

I didn’t even think about checking my spam folder ...Thanks
Screw you Gustafson ????....back down to the 30th percentile I go!
Jumped up to 5th in our group. For the first time since I started playing FF all my anglers are making the first cut.
Hartman screwed me but I’ve got 4 left! Sitting in third.
Bust cherry yelas and fussy all flopped two fishing tomorrow. Smh that really hurt
Zaldain catching bass 45 foot deep in 60 foot of water using his electronics and seeing the bass eat the lure , I have never done that . Looks likes a blast .
I had two guys make the cut today. I'm doing terrible so far this year.
I've got Zaldain in 1st and Weidler in 5th going in to tomorrow, hopefully they can catch them 1 more day.
Bill Weildler just caught one . He said it was a 12 incher and threw it in the live-well . The min length is 14 inches . I didnt see him measure it .
Congratulations to Paul Mueller!
I had a good tournament finally.
Up next, the Classic starting March 15th. It will be the last BASS tournament for the guys that left, for a few years at least.
I'm in last place counting everyone who played the first two events . I spent the last five minutes grueling over my classic picks and here they are.
@scaleface, I saw your lineup and my initial reaction was "No wonder he is in last place, he is picking guys who left the Elite series for BPT".
It took a moment to realize it was the Classic...
My initial lineup for the classic.. Im bad about changing a day before though.. My toughest pic was Ike.. im kinda gagged at the way he acted at Conroe this week..
Glad I made a last min switch to mueller and zaldain haha
The classic will be interesting for sure. You have the guys who left with extra motivation because it very well may be their last classic. On the other hand, you have a lot of guys trying to prove a point they think their tour is still strong... aka I have no idea how to pick this one as usual lol
On 2/18/2019 at 11:43 PM, MrPeanut said:Glad I made a last min switch to mueller and zaldain haha
Nice selections and change .
I changed my whole team one time and bombed . The original team did so good that I doubt if anybody would believe me . So I have been sticking with my first picks ever since and they have stunk . lol
4 minutes ago, scaleface said:I changed my whole team one time and bombed . The original team did so good that I doubt if anybody would believe me . So I have been sticking with my first picks ever since and they have stunk . lol
Lol at least 90% of the time I make last minute changes I bomb
Last tournament was my worst in 4 years. Not one guy made the 35 man cut. Ouch.....good chance there goes the boat lol
Just a side note, my buddy asked MLF on Twitter about having fantasy fishing for next year. They responded they are working on it And plan to have it for next year.
Feider is doing well but Lee won last year with Ehlers on his tail. All in Group A.
Is anybody else with me on the struggle bus for how to even start picking a roster for the classic?
Right after the fantasy page was updated for the classic, I filled out a team based on an immediate first-impression of the buckets, before the ownership percentage had even updated:
A. Ott
B. Christie
C. MDJ
D. Roy
E. Edwin
Weeks later, I have hemmed and hawed, dug into some numbers, wrung my hands repeatedly over the stratospheric ownership percentage of most of these guys, seriously considered 3 or 4 others for each bucket....
...and have decided to stick to my original choices. No changes.
On 3/8/2019 at 12:32 AM, MrPeanut said:Is anybody else with me on the struggle bus for how to even start picking a roster for the classic?
Just close your eyes and go random... I'm right there with you ????
Today is the day, boys. Here's who I picked. Who does everyone else have?!
Defoe
Benton
Swindle
Roy
Tharp

We're pretty close, I got my darkhorses tho:
Defoe
Martens
Swindle
Montgomery
Tharp
Wesley Strader
Aaron Martens
Todd Faircloth
Bradley Roy
Edwin Evers
KVD is catching them on the spinnerbait this morning. This could get interesting...
Lester
Hawk
Litner
Montgomery
Tharp
KVD forgot a measuring board and had to ask a spectator boat for one LOL .
Now Ott just needs a limit to blow everything up!
I dont know how the rules are but can a contestant receive help from a spectator boat?
My fantasy team isn't showing up...anyone else? I swore i picked one....
Looks like Strader's got a good catfish pattern going...

I saw that. Apparently he only has a 15" board on him. Smallmouths having to be a minimum of 18" would have to pretty much rule them out as being a targeted species for these guys.

Pete, I can see your team on the admin side of things on the Bassmaster website. Does this look right?
Defoe, Christie, Ike, Roy, Evers
Name is Kyle unless there are 2 Montanaros in our group...
I know I picked Christie but Ike isnt a common pick for me...I really can't recall as I picked team like a month ago and let it be.
On 3/16/2019 at 1:26 AM, Montanaro said:Name is Kyle unless there are 2 Montanaros in our group...
Looks like your team never saved???
Kyle , did you forget to pick the tie-breaker weight ?
Sigh...
Maybe I forgot. Swore I researched my picks. Oh well.
So like many people, I had DeFoe (leader plus big bass). I also have Elam, Lane & Pwroznik (all in the top 12). Hey, maybe I have a shot at winning this...oh wait, I have Keith Poche (50th out of 52).
That D bucket was a tough choice, I thought Poche might just junk fish around and be better than anyone else in his bucket, even if he didn't fair well against the rest of the field. So help me, if my other 4 guys hold up and Poche costs me a $3K BPS card, I'm going to ask Ish Monroe to push him in the water again.
Go, you crawdad eating Cajun, put 15 lbs in the boat tomorrow!!
This is my 3rd year of doing this and in that time i have picked Ott Defoe more than anyone else , including the last two classics . So do I pick him on his home lake ? No, that would be the smart thing to do .
I managed to pick the 2 guys that zeroed today
I should have had three in the finals but Andy Montgomery was late to the weigh-in . I'm fated to finish last , again . ????
Am I the only one who's points haven't updated since the end of day 1? I got 2 emails telling me my points from the Lake Lanier event but none from the current event.

Your not the only one, it’s happening to me as well.
points haven't updated for me either.
I have 3 fishing today: Defoe, Daniels, and Evers.
I had 1 fishing today and looks like he landed exactly 0 fish...My other 4 were between 35 and 50......I should have went with my first picks I had set up 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I didn’t do enough research to realize that my tie breaker was way to high ????
@ratherbfishin1 nice team. I had Christie as well and thought as tough as he had been in some past classics he would be the same here. Congrats though
So many good guys that I would have been happy to see win the classic, but I was really happy to see Ott pull out the W.
I would have been as equally happy to see Wheeler, Daniels, or Zaldain pull it out as well. It was fun watching the weigh in's and seeing the guys get emotional because they know how much BASS means to their lives and careers, after they up and abandoned it over the off season. It might be interesting after this season to see if any of these guys leave MLF to come back to the BASS format.
My teams final results...
Defoe - 1
Benton - 32
Swindle - 35
Roy - 50
Tharp - 38
It was great to see a guy like Ott pull it out.
I'm also curious to see if anybody goes back to the BASS format. Mostly because many of the field has fished under the 5 biggest bites format their whole career. If they're struggling with the MLF format so far going back might be more intriguing to them than if they're excelling in the MLF.
Ott saved me, he was the 1 pick that made it to day 3. Next week I'm going with a good ol' Ontario boy and a mix bag of anglers.

This may have been the hardest tournament to pick the anglers in all the years I have been playing this.
Should be a good one here’s who I’m rolling with
My crew for Hartwell:
Cobb
Arey
Cherry
Williamson
Whitaker
I hate taking all locals, but all of these guys are STUDS on this lake.
Patrick Walters
Matt Arey
Keith Combs
Jeff Gustafson
Jake Whitaker
Really stacked weights today. 2 pounds separates 10th and 30th. 5 pounds separating 10th and 50th.
Pirch
Cory Johnston
Cherry
Williamson
Hartman
Cobb (1st)
Auten (6th)
Lowen (8th)
Gustafson (15th)
Hartman (31st)
So far so good. Tomorrow will be completely different conditions, weights are close enough that it could help me or hurt me. Just need my top 3 to keep it up , Gusty to improve and Hartman to pretend it is his rookie year.
As an aside, I read that last year, 6 of the event winners in the Fantasy Fishing were not BASS members, meaning they won $2500 BPS card instead of a $3000 BPS gift card. I find it odd that so many folks who like bass fishing enough to play Fantasy Fishing (& know enough to win) are not BASS members.
Doing pretty good so far.
In our group, Fishballer (S. Duffy) is leading this event with 1359 points. I looked a little closer and realized that his picks in Buckets A, B, C, D are the top point-getter in each group. Tyler Rivet is the top in group E, but he only has 0.3% ownership, so the odds of someone having those top 4 & Mr. Rivet are pretty slim. The only thing this doesn't take into account is the possible 40 additional points if Brock Mosley's big bass holds up. Otherwise, although it is early, it is cool that most likely Fishballer is tied with the top score. I looked down the leader board and saw 2 other folks in the top 500 that had his same choices, so it would come down to the tie breaker.
If my choices came through as the winning selections, I would be in a tie with Odell15 (P.Odell), who is also leading in the season points in our group. Odell15 & I have the same choices, his tie breaker is 67.0 lbs while I have 70.7 lbs.
With 30 less anglers in the Elites, it seems as if people having the same selections is a less rare thing.
I picked Tyler Rivet .

You did some major research last night!
It's about time I have a solid event. I think I was in the bottom 10 guys in our group prior to this event.
4 out of 5 Bucket leaders is more than solid, it is outstanding. I obviously am rooting for a few different guys than you have, but if I fall out of contention, I'll jump on your bandwagon & cheer for you to pull off a victory.
After all, do we really want the winner of the BPS gift card to spend that money on women's clothing and snacks? No, the bait monkey needs to be fed with rods, reels & lures and nothing helps satisfy him like a Bass resource member with a $3K BPS card in his hand.
Wow, this is getting interesting.
Fishballer06's team (and the other folks with the same picks) pretty much held serve at todays weigh-in, dropping ever so slightly to 1350 points. However, my & Odell015's choices rode a Jamie Hartman comeback to close in to 1348 points. We have the top point getters (before big bass & big bag) in buckets A, C, D & E, a slight flip from yesterday when Fishballers choices held that distinction. The biggest monkey wrench for all of our choices is Drew Cook, who if his big bag holds up and he stays in the top 4, would be the top point getter in Bucket A, even if Cobb goes wire to wire. Chris Groh actually did us a favor by bumping Brandon Lester out of Big Bass, for Lester is the Bucket B leader and an extra 40 points for Big bass might have sealed the deal for someone else.
This is cool, having multiple Bass resource members with a legitimate shot at the BPS card.
Both Fishballer, Odell015 & I have Cobb in the A bucket. Our choices differ in the other 4:
B - Arey (8th) vs Auten (21st)
C - Cherry (5th) vs Lowen (4th)
D - Williamson (11th) vs (Gustafson) (7th)
E - Whitaker (20th) vs Hartman (14th)
I will be on the water all day tomorrow and at a gathering after that, so I may not see Saturdays results until Sunday morning. I would really love to see Cobb stay on top and those 8 anglers above make the top 10. It would make for a nailbiting Sunday for all 3 of us.
Oh my gosh, I didn't even see Gundog has shot into the lead with 1373. With Cobb, Lester, Cherry & Gustafson, he has 4 of the top 7 and then Whitaker in 20th place. If Lester had hung on to big bass, that would have been huge, although if they are sight fishing the next 2 days, it won't be a stretch to imagine a 6 lb fish hitting the scales.
So another Bass resource member is staking a claim for the event win. Good Luck!!
Woo hoo! Finally got lucky on my picks.
I had 4 anlgers in the top 20 and only finished 25 in this group . Thats some tough competition . Heres my Wynah Bay lineup .
Great tournament! I switched Lowen in at the last minute and it paid off. It’s SO hard to win these games, it’s a lot of luck honestly.... good luck everyone! Winyah will be tough.
Congrats to Brandon Cobb for finally getting his first Elite W. I was really happy to see him go wire to wire (partly because I had him in Fantasy). Our group also was pretty impressive. We had 6 guys over the 1250 mark, 4 of which were over 1300!
Just a heads up guys, we have a quick turnaround for this next one. Winyah Bay starts Thursday morning, so get your picks in for that event by Wednesday night.
Basstrac wont be worth a hoot today . I just watched the takeoff and a whole bunch of boats didnt have marshals . It looks like half the field dont have them .
Good to know. Thanks for letting us know.
I really felt lost picking for this event. Here's who I've got.
Canterbury
Benton
Williamson

You may have noticed that you moved up in the standings, even if you had only an average start today. Historically, back to back tournaments in the middle of the year mean about 10% of the participants will forget to set their lineup for the 2nd tournament. We had 8 people who had not missed an event fail to set a lineup in time for this weeks tournament, including a couple of guys who were in our top 10 (BMci84 & stratoliner92).
On a side note, currently our top 2 point leaders (Odell015 & Bigfishadventures78) are in the top 50 for the entire contest (39th & 45th respectively). Pretty darn good out of 23,500 entrants.
Zaldain really dropped off, I got 3 in the top 20 (#10, #15, #20).
What's the cut off for Day 2?
On 4/12/2019 at 8:35 PM, Dangerfield said:What's the cut off for Day 2?
Top 35 for day 3, top 10 for day 4.
I was pretty shocked when I checked my results from yesterday. My guys finished in: 1, 9, 25, 29, 54. This landed me in the 97th percentile somehow, so lots of guys must be having a rough event.

perfect! This should help me catch up in this group and the TW group.
Yesterday I had 4 anglers in the top 35 and 1 in the top 10 . Today, 2 guys in the top 35 and 0 in the top 20 .
I had a pretty decent day yesterday but today was much tougher, still have 2 guys going tomorrow but I bet my score dropped 200 points.
Tougher day here, too...got just two going tomorrow, Crews & Williamson.
According to basstrack right now I have 3 in the top 10, we’ll see how the day plays out
I was looking at the standings for this event & EBBass (from our group) is in 6th place, only 35 points out of first. He has Cantebury, Crews & Kreiger fishing tomorrow, so he has some shots to move up.
The linchpin will be big bass & big bag. The person in first has Blaylock, who will get 40 more points if his big bag from today holds up. There are 3 or 4 people who have Williamson with Big Bass, again with 40 points if it holds up.
So to win the BPS gift card, EBBass needs to have his three guys take big bass & big bag. It works out better if it is split (one guys gets big bass, another gets big bag), but I think if the same angler does both, it may still be enough to push him into the winners circle.
Good luck tomorrow!!
Haha @OCdockskipper I was looking at that too. By far the best showing ive ever had. Hopefully one of the three will have a break out day like Clunn did in fl earlier this year. And to think I filled my team in 9 hours before blast off!!
I am surprised I have 3,5,and 10..But sadly also 71....
@OCdockskipper looking at it more closely I would need Canterbury to catch big bag and bass as the leader also has crews and Kreiger who I do as well. If someone could do it Scott is more than capable

That makes sense. I don't see Blalock falling down 7 or 8 positions to cough up the points you need to catch him. If Cantebury gets Big bag & wins the tournament (and Crews & Kreiger improve a spot or two), that might be enough to squeak in for a win, barely.
And please tell me you are a BASS member so you get a 3K BPS gift card instead of $2500...
I am a bass memeber and that would help to offset the cost of a new iPhone I had to buy after last weeks NMBFN qualifiers ????

I haven't been watching live today, but Basstrakk right now has Canterbury with a 6
@MIbassyaker not sure if it’s enough to take bb but he’s a lb up on Blaylock I dunno how accurate that is got my fingers crossed

@MIbassyaker will do if I get anything
My team finished in 2, 4, 13, 37, and 53rd, yet I somehow managed to be 216th overall on BASS and in the 99th percentile. What an event considering I felt blind making my picks given the nature of tidal tournaments.
I was in the 49th percentile two weeks ago. Now after these last two tournaments I'm in the 85th percentile. Things are starting to look up after a rough start to the year.
I made my picks for Lake fork and predicted 120 lbs will win it .
@scaleface couldn’t help but laugh at the weight it’s crazy to think it might actually take that!!!

My Lake Fork lineup
I really screwed up. I was sitting somewhere around the 98th percentile and missed making a team for the last tournament. Now I'm down to 65%ish. There's always next season. My username is RivetSmasher.

It's tournament week boys! Get your picks in soon.
So I picked my lineup ....
I just picked the first guy in each bucket.
Cant do any worse than I have been.
Good luck!!
We are under way on Lake Fork! 8:25AM local in Texas right now and Chris Zaldain already has a 7-4 lunker.
This tournament is different from other typical Elite events. Each angler has a marshal with him who weighs each fish as they catch it and then it's released. The only exception being if an angler catches a fish over 24", in which case, the anglers will bring that fish to the stage for the official weigh in at the end of the day.
All that being said, my team is:
Livesay
Benton
Combs
Prince
Sullivan

The email update system has been super wonky this year.
In other news, my pick Drew Benton has 17 pounds at 8AM!!! Wooo hoo!
I've got 2 in the top 5 - Zaldain and Combs. Looks like Chris couldn't keep up the pace.

Since I started playing fantasy fishing I noticed that Chris doesnt finish well . He gets off to tremendous starts sometimes .I have him too .
So I totally bombed with my picks, got one in the top 35 and that’s it.
Chris has never finished well. Doesnt have the stamina I believe.
My team is decent. My D and E picks collapsed some. Was worth a shot.
I missed one tournament so being consistent does me no good. I need a grandslam tournament which means picking at least one flyer no one expects to do really well.
Picking Quinten Cappo may have been the dumbest pick I have made . But he stated he was looking forward to this tourney, so i interpreted that as meaning he has done well here . Now i think he meant hes never fished it before and looking forward to it .
What scales are they using to weigh the bass ?

It appears to me he sticks with what was working and doesnt adjust .
I just got a chance to pause the screen . The scales are Brecknell Electro Samson Scale .
Cobb is on a tear. He might as well trailer up now. He's got this one in the bag.
Congrats to Brandon Cobb for getting another W! This kid is proving he is the real deal.
Heads up guys, we have an 8 day turn around until the next event. So don't sleep on your picks!
I just noticed something . I have not had one angler in the top ten during the Elite events this year . I did have one in the classic . Sheesh !
Maybe I'll do better at Fort Gibson

Day 1:
Canterbury: 21st
Davis: 14th
Mueller: 1st (!)
Yelas: 43rd
Kennedy: 30th
Another tournament I bombed in . I have one angler fishing tomorrow . Gary Clouse in 31st place .
I got Matt Herren. Thats it. I diverged from my strategy to pick hot anglers by choosing guys I felt could fish grass and have a history of doing well on occassion. It didnt work out for me. I think the fact that the first two days were more offshore finesse hurt the anglers I picked.
After day 3, here's where my guys stand:
Canterbury - 22
Lester - 5
Mullins - 37
Hamilton - 39
Kennedy - 52
Lester only had 14 pounds yesterday. He's currently ~5 pounds out of first. If he could have put together 20 pounds yesterday he'd be right there at the top for me.
I was looking pretty good after day one.
Then Mueller decided getting skunked was better than making the cut.
Still have Herren so at least there is that.
I was pretty shocked Lester only weighed in 14 yesterday

Thats why I always finish near the bottom .
According to Bass Trac Kolby Kreiger is in 30th place . If we were going by MLF rules he'd be way out in front with 77 lbs .
Last again . Among all members who have played every week, I am dead last . Havent picked a single angler who finished an Elite event in the top ten . Did get one during the classic . LOL
We have one guy in our group that is 15th overall . Good luck to Bigfishadventures78 . keep it up .
Alright boys, I know most of us are still licking our wounds from the St. Lawrence, but Cayuga starts on Thursday morning. Get your picks in by Wednesday night.
We are underway on Cayuga Lake. 8:30AM local time and 3 anglers already have over 16 pounds, including Chris Zaldain with 18.5lbs!
This one could be a slug fest.
a. Drew Benton
b. Jamie Hartman
c. Paul Mueller
d. Koby Kreiger
e. Kyle Monti
Derek Hudnall has a 7-8 New York largemouth in his box right now. Talk about a tank!!
Matt Herren
Keith Combs
Hunter Shryock
Cliff Prince
Gary Clouse
A third of the field hasn't even checked in . They are short on Marshall's .
Per Chris Zaldain's Instagram, he, Caleb Sumrall and Ed Loughran had their boats broken into last night and all their rods and reels stolen.

That's terrible to hear.
On another note, Zaldain had a 24 pound bag and Hudnall's fish from this morning was 8-1!!!
Looks like we're down to just 2 tournaments left and still plenty of chances for anyone to win the BassResource crown for the season. There's less than 350 points separating the top 7 spots.
We've got 23 days until the Fort Gibson tournament. So take your time and make your picks wisely.
Top 10 get prizes right? My buddy is currently sitting in 10th for BR and 16th overall. He's stoked!

Yep! In that past, Glen has paid out in Circuit City gift cards, but this year he's stepped it up to Blockbuster unlimited lifetime memberships.
Is there a participation prize ?

You can still join for the final two events of the season with us now. It will get you familiar with how to make your picks and such.
I went back to the first post. I see the group name and password, but where to I go to join? What kind of group is this?

For those unfamiliar, we have been doing this for a few years now as a fun way to compete and have a little fun among all our members. Do you think you have what it takes to take home 1st place for the season?
Group Name: BassResource
Password: BR2019
We encourage all members to play along. Just pick your anglers prior to each BASS Elite event and share them (or don't) with the group. It's all part of the fun!

Just create an account (its free) and then join our group using the information I posted in the first post of the group.
Thanks.
I joined. I'll save the research for next season. I chose just on name recognition and random chance.

They give out a first place prize for each individual event too, so you always have a shot at that even if you've missed the other events:

Less than a week until the next tournament. Get those picks in boys!
i just joined... should be fun i just random picked for this event
Everyone - If you made your picks early for this event, please double check and make sure your picks are still in there. With them switching this event from Ft. Gibson to Lake Tenkiller, I don't want something wonky happening to anyone's picks.

This is going to be an interesting tourney . Nobody has prefished it .
With the way I have been choosing guys, it doesn't matter where they are fishing
I couldn't pick a wedgie at this point
You can tell these guys didn't get to properly scout this lake. 10th place right now has 7 pounds even. The leader has around 11 pounds.

Id rather watch a tournament like this then a 100 lb shootout .

The 16 inch limit on largemouth and smallmouth will come into play as well.
With a 12 inch limit on spots, you could catch 5 and just barely have 4 lbs.
I had a terrible event on Tenkiller. Dropped a few spots in the standings.
5 more days until AOY Championship tournament. Get your picks in. This is the final event of the year!
I had my first guy to fish on sunday this year . Kyle Monti . Also had two in the bottom 10 , again .
3.5 days to get your picks in for the final event.
Our current top 5 is:
pexari32
Bigfishadventures78
bfric
fish527
blckshirt98
Only 612 points separate our top ten guys. Anything is possible in this last event.
I keep picking long shots that for one reason or another I feel have a shot at the top ten . Its been a disaster . I'm going with some obvious picks this time .
A | Chris Zaldain San Jose, CA | -
B | Jamie Hartman Utica, NY | -
C | Jeff Gustafson Keewatin, ON | -
D | Brandon Cobb Greenwood, SC | -
E | Paul Mueller Naugatuck, CT |
Lester, Crews, Menendez, Paquette, Wendlandt
Zaldain
Hartman
Pipkens
Paquette
Wendlandt
So for the St. Lawrence event, I had Cory Johnston as a pick. Day 1 he has mechanical problems with his boat, loses a ton of fishing time and despite a great sack on day 2, misses the cut and finishes 36th.
For this weeks event, I had Chris Johnston. Once again, Cory has mechanical issues with his boat, but this time, he gets hold of his brother Chris and they swap boats. So now Chris loses valuable fishing time and is sitting in 39th place out of 50 anglers.
Every time Cory Johnson has boat issues, it costs me even if I don't pick him!! I wouldn't be surprised if Cory's motor gets stuck wide open tomorrow & he ends up ramming and sinking the boat of one of my other 4 picks...
I've got Feider in my A bucket (1st) and Mueller in my E bucket (4th). But my B, C, and D buckets are all in the bottom 15. I took Garrett Paquette since he's a local and he only had 3 fish yesterday and landed in 44th, but looking this morning, it looks like he's already caught a 5-8 this morning, so hopefully he should rise up in the rankings today.
What happened to dipalma...he sitting on a zero.

I saw he blanked. A few guys struggled to catch them yesterday with the wind, and I know a few had boat issues. I haven't heard anything official on what happened with him.
Wasnt sure if he blanked or disqualified/backed out.

His boat almost sunk . he didnt get to fish . Congratulations on your teams success this tourney . You're in first despite Dipalmas mishap .
Feider has over 24 pounds already. I think it's safe to say he has this one in the bag.
Congrats to Pexari32 for winning our 2019 Fantasy Fishing League! He managed to edge out Bigfishadventures78 by just 75 points.
I also want to give a big shout out to the 80 total members that we had playing along this year. It's been a lot of fun and I always enjoy watching everyone battle it out throughout the season. I hope you all enjoyed it and that we can get even more guys to play along next season.
