I know their is only a hand full of members right now so let's get this forum up and moving again.First topic is where is everyone from?I'm From South Jersey.I live near many small lakes, too small for boats with gas motors(most of them anyhow.)Our biggets lake around here is 836 acres, has some smallies and all that other good stuff.I spend my winters/late fall chasing striper and tog up and down the south Jersey coast. I'll stop now before this turns into a novel.

I'm from Port Dover ON Canada.. Right on Long Point Bay, the north shore of Lake Erie. I fish Lake Erie a lot and Lake Ontario isn't far away either, as well as many smaller lakes and rivers here in Canada. Lots of bass to be caught up here!
im from lynnwood, WA...right next to Seattle. I usualy fish a small lake where my grandparents live, called Martha Lake. dont fish other lakes too often
Rochester, NY. I would ask all posters to put their location in their signature, so readers can put their posts in better perspective. I'm a member of another YaBB forum where many of us have done that with our signatures, and it works out pretty well.
Hello all I'm from southern Ohio, and mostly fish ponds, but there are a bunch of small lakes around here, but i don't have a boat yet.
Grand Blanc, Michigan. A ton of small lakes by me. We have a lot of big lakes, too, but my 12 foot jon boat and electric motor have me spending most of my time on the smaller lakes.
I am from Covington LA. About fourty-five minutes north of New Orleans. I fish small farm ponds most of the time also. I haven't lived here a long time but so far I have had my best luck with jig combo's.
About the middle of TX.
Dayton, OH normally
Got sent to Florida for a couple of months
Usually fish Erie, Cumberland, Norris, and a couple of small lakes in central Ohio
a couple of ohio guys hear, we should all meet up and fish this spring, i've got a money pond hear in athens ohio, actually a couple of good ponds. have a good winter guys i'm getting cabin fever hear in ohio. jeff
Cumberland and Norris don't freeze. I'm going to go to Norris before the spring rains fill it up again. They normally drop the lake 60ft, which as you can imagine, really concentrates the fish.
Hi, I am from northeast Ohio, and I fish mostly farm ponds. I also fish Presque bay.
I'm from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Not a lot of local bass fishing, but plenty within 100 miles or so east and west.
I now live in Kansas, where I fish for what ever bites my Bass rigs. I am from Florida that got moved to Kansas by my wife who is from Kansas. Out here I have caught Large and small mouths, walleyes, channel cats, and flathead catfish. If anyone can tell me what lures work the best, when to use them, and what colors to buy i would be happy.
I am from Palmyra new york(wayne county), and fish the erie canal.
And I'm from South Africa, just starting out with bass fishing and hoping to learn from all you pros...
From Kent Wa. South of Seattle. Been fishing just about any piece of water I can get my boat on. Lots of small lakes and a few bigger ones like Lake Washington, Lake Sammamish. Mostly for Smallies but once in awhile for LM.

QuoteCheck your messages for my email address. We can share tips/stories
But that's exactly what this forum is for
I'll keep your mail handy thanks
QuoteGuess u've got a boat?
nope, summer's a terrible time to buy boats and convertibles, maybe next winter, if all goes according to plan, meanwhile I'm looking at a tube, which I imagine I'll get to use even if I have a boat.
QuoteI stay in Piet Retief, have caught a few small ones from the bank at Heyshope dam... but nothing big yet...
nice, wish I'd caught anything at all, I'd be more concerned if people around me had been catching, but it's been that slow for everyone else as well, except the guys after carp.
google says "The Heyshope Dam is famed for its favourable conditions for black bass fishing." enjoy it, and I'll drop you a mail sometime, might be headed for your neck of the woods at some point this summer
I'm originally from Philadelphia, PA. But thanks to the United States Navy, I have been a southerner for the past 19 years and reside in Portsmouth, VA. I have been given a honorary southern gentlemen tag by my friends here in VA. My boys are southern born and bred. So here's to the South! ;D
I am from Northern California, I mostly fish the sacramento Delta. I belong to the Delta Bassmasters. I have an '03 tRITON tr-20 with an Opti 225.

mark38 that is a sweet avatar. I don't think I came across that one!
Hello to Backlash... You're the closest to me geographically I have seen in my short time on this site. Salem Or here. WA and OR are similar in geography... ( cool and wet on the coast, warmer and dryer on the east side. ). Salem is in the "valley ", 60 miles from the ocean with the coast range in between, 75-100 miles over " the hill" depending on the hiway you take to get to the east side where the bass tend to be bigger becuase the lakes are shallow and it doesn't rain from October until June. You are also listed as a "newbie", and so am I. Maybe we can share semi-local tips, questions, and experiences.
I am from west TN near Ky Lake. Fairly new to bass fishing. love it.
I hail from Nacogdoches, TX. Fourty minutes from Sam Rayburn Res. and about an hour and a half from Toledo Bend. Fifteen minutes away is a small (750 - 800 acre) lake called Pinkston Lake that spits out great bass I have heard, and we have a 1200 - 1300 acre (i think) more or less recreational lake here in Nacogdoches. Two hours away is Lake Fork and Lake Crockett, while an hour truck ride in the other direction is Caddo Lake. Needless to say, there are a couple of nice fishing holes for us to choose from down here.
Jeremy
I live in Illinois but grew up in Florida. I fish tournaments throughout the year and have fished all over the United States. Bass fishing is my life. I just hope others can learn from some of my post or just get them thinking some in the right direction. :

i live in MN, i fish tournaments throughout the open water season in MN and WI. im part of the ABA (american bass anglers) which is a trail of tournaments competeing for money and points which are used to go to nationals. there are many districts throughout the USA. if u have a chance i would try fishing in these tournaments there very fun. 55 entry and top 8 get paid and with about 40 people payout for first is usually around 550 or so.
Down South, way down in Mobile, Alabma. Fishing around this area is the best, and it's year round! No ice in Mobile! We have lots of lakes including our 3600 acre water supply as well as the Mobile River and Pascagoula River Deltas. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Oh, the salt water fishing is the best, too.

Houston,Tx. Fish a small lake in Goodrich Tx.
Stuck in San diego county california till I retire from the Navy, then back to the bluegrass state.
I'm from Missouri and I have been fishing most of my life. I fish streams for smallmouth from my jet boat, and I fish the Ozarks with my bass boat. I write for the Heartland Pro-Am circuit, and last year fished the FLW's albeit on the non-boater side after fishing the Northern Division Everstarts as a boater for two years. Retired from teaching, so I get to fish pretty often. If the Ozarks area is of interest, I can probably help. I love going north in summer to catch smallies.
Originally from Wis. lived in Mich. UP on Superior for awhile as a kid. Moved to Mesa, Arizona 30 yr ago. Just started bass fishing 1 1/2 yr ago...a blast.

Originally from Southern Illinois,Relocated to the Mohave Desert. Spend my spare time trying to figure the Bass out at Lk Mead, Lk Mohave and going to Lk Havasu the second week of January. Will try the won bass circuit in Arizona this Spring.Seems to be a few Bass nuts from the west on this forum.Has anyone been to Bass Pro Shops in Las Vegas? And my wife asks where does all the Money GO?????
Jackie just do what i did. I took my wife fishing and in two days she lost 7 of my jigs and two crankbaits in the trees and put a nice birds nest in my reel. I said now dear when i go to the tackle shop and buy stuff to go fishing i don't want to hear one cross word because we know how easy it is to loose stuff don't we. It cured my problem.
I reside in Rock Island, IL (about 2.5 hours straight west of Chicago). The area I live in is called the Quad Cities. Our biggest claim to fame is this is where John Deere tractors are made. My house is about 5-10 blocks from the Mississippi River. We have hosted a Bassmaster event, FLW Tour Championship and this years RCL Tour Championship.
Overall the fishing in this area is pretty tough. If you go a little north or south on the river its better but not right on the pool I live on.
JT Bagwell
According to my wife in the middle of nowhere. Actually Guilford, Maine. Pine trees, lakes, pretty good fishing and blackflies and mosquitos. The county I live in is about as big as Conn and RI combined and has about 17,000 people. More lakes than a man could ever fish. I don't worry about all of you flooding up here and spoiling my solitude because usually one winter and then one mud season followed by one good blackfly season is enough to keep the population in check.
Just moved to Louisville, KY from VA Beach. Signed out of the Army on the 3rd of Nov. - After a long career in the Rangers, I'm looking froward to spending more time with my family and fishing. Originally from North East Ohio.

Hey All,
I hop back and forth across the Mason Dixon line. LOL! I'm originally from central PA but now reside in MD. I fish everything from small ponds, to the upper Potomac and Juniata rivers and several small lakes (500 acres and smaller). I usually fish for largemouths but do chase after smallies from time to time. For a change of pace, I go after some toothy critters, the musky.
NW corner of Ohio here. (Defiance) Big bustling metropolis of 16,000 lol... I fish in 2 bass clubs plus opens. Hope to get into some BFLs this year too. We fish in IN, OH and MI. Being a full time firefighter gives me time to fish. Maybe see some of you on the water. Look for a white and blue procraft with gold trim (like Bill Dance's old boat) listen for the cussing after the empty hook set and you'll find me. ;D
Basst of luck all,
Snag
I don't know Snag. That cussing you refer to after an empty hook set could just as well be me. The level or foulness of the word tells how many hook sets have gone bad.
You mean someone else has the same "fishing vocabulary" as me lol......
Hey all I'm frim Gaffney, SC.
That's in the upstate area about a mile or two from the NC line.
Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, I fish the Potomac and local ponds and lakes. I'm looking to expand to some of the other lakes and rivers nearby.

Hi,
I live in the SE corner of Kansas. We have a lot of old strip pits that the state has turned into some pretty good fishing over the years. Bass, Walleye, panfish, catfish. I Bass fish mostly, grandma likes panfish.
You just about have to have a boat to fish the area. The pits are just deep open troughs cut into the ground where they stripped out the coal. The sides are steep and rugged. There are just a few places you can fish from the bank. The state is constantly putting in new boat ramps and acceses areas. Some pits are too small for a motor boat. Some will handle a big boat. I have a 14' Bass Tracker that's just fine for anything but the pits we use a Scamp in.
The area also has plenty of White Tail deer, rabbits, squirrel and quail, so it's a great year-round area to hunt and fish.
We even have Spoonbill close by. I've never snagged for them but who knows, maybe next year?
papa1
Western Ohio, near Dayton. I fish mostly streams for smallmouth, but take several out of state trips each year and at least one to upper Canada for 100 smallies a day. I just found this forum so I'm new. I have been a member of BD forum for a couple of years. I like what I've seen so far, and look forward to new friends.

Right now I am in Panama City Fl, Tyndall AFB. I have had 7 assignments in 14 years, Problably go to OK city in 2007. Fish Deer Point Lake and little lakes around base. I use a white spinnerbait/texas rigged worm. I have fished a long time but I can't seem to get any better. Largest bass caught was 7lbs. Not bad, but as much as i fish i should have l landed a 10lber by now. I get in the same old routine, I need to try to work on not sticking to something that doesn't work. This is a great forum. God Bless America! My new years resolution is to try new techniques more than 4 or 5 casts:)
Glens Falls, New York. Great fishing Lake Champlain, Lake George, Hudson River.
I basically live in the middle of Kansas. As for bass fishing I go about every other day from Spring to early winter at a city lake 4 blocks from my house. I also fish tournaments as a co-angler.

Another newbie to this site. Glad to find out there are others out there like myself that got away from fishing and now are getting back into it. I live in Northern New York, within minutes of Lake Ontario, Chaumont Bay, and the St. Lawrence River. Bass being my favorite fish, but do go after Walleye, Northerns, Muskies, and a little Salmon and Brown trout fishing. Recently got hooked on the spring Striper run down on the Hudson River. I fish a lot of the smaller lakes here in NY as well as do a little traveling down south to the Carolina's and Florida in the winter time. Always looking for new fishing friends to swap ideas and fishing stories with.
Springfield, IL
Like others here I have recenlty gotten back into fishing after a 25+ year break. I focus primarily on bass but do some trout fishing as well as walleye occasionally. And I have caught a few muskie as my local "bass" lake also is stocked with muskie and they have a way of getting in the way of bass fishing!

Broken Bow is an awesome lake. One of my favs. Extremely clear and DEEP! I like to fish up the river end as most do, but I've been able to catch fish all over. I like throwing a green jig with a green pumpkin trailer. Salt craws, and crankbaits have done me wonders over there as well. If you like to sight fish this is the lake to do it!

Born and Bred here in Massachusetts. I live in Milford now, its a small(ish) town about 40 mins from Boston. I make my living as a firefighter and have a 10 month old son...who cant wait to go fishing.
I have been fishing all my life but was never really serious until the last year after my son was born. My hobbies up to that point were not the safest and really inspired me to pursue fishing. Since then it has become a passion.
My main interest is Bass fishing but I also like to Flyfish for Trout in some local streams and rivers.
Russellville, Arkansas and I love fishing for those bucket mouths.
Rattlinrogue and I live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (53 miles from the Gulf of Mexico) and home to the largest National Guard base in the world, Camp Shelby. As "Rogue" said, we fish local public lakes and ponds, but since 9-11, one of our favorite lakes is now unavailable. We loved to fish on a small lake of the military base, but that area is now off limits due to military using live amo at the firing/bombing ranges.
Now we fish predominantly at a state park near our home where we consistantly catch bass ranging from 2-7 lbs. and at least once monthly we will land a lunker 8-10 lbs.
I live about an hour NW of Harrisburg PA. I fish mostly electric motor only lakes ranging from 60 to 500 acres. I'll fish about 8 tournaments on these waters. I also fish the Junaita and Susquehanna rivers.
