If you could fish with any famous bass fisherman for a day,who would it be and why?
Ike, polarizing figure, but heck of a fisherman, and dude loves to promote the heck out of the sport. From listening to him and reading about his fishing a lot of what he does would help me out. He also sounds like a genuinely good guy from chatting with guys who have met him so I am betting it would be good times and good fishing.
Probably at least a couple dozen Bass Resource Members!
Why?
Why not!
I'm going with Hank Parker. He seems like someone who would want to fish with anyone. His shows are enjoyable because he always seems to genuinely have fun.He also seems to fish common lakes more with success other than stocked ponds. That being said Dance would probably be second, even though he does seem to fish more private well stocked fisheries.
Rick Clunn to pick his brain because there is no one better at finding fish when the conditions and electronics aren't in everyone's favor.
KVD just because I'd like to huck spinnerbaits at his pace for a day.
My dad or my grandfather. Because neither can fish anymore and we had great memories fishing when I was a kid.
Catt ~ but only at Night . . . . .

How could I forget my dad, the man who taught me to fish and so much more! He couldn't fish toward the end of his life due to arthritis. I was his main fishing buddy growing up.

Mid-summer night, deep water structure, full moon on the horizon, gentle southern breeze, Hoot Owl in the distance, the solid thump on a jig!
Yea I could do that!

Several Bassresource members I'd also like to fish with, Mr. Parks (Big O), would probably be at the top of that list. Had the pleasure of meeting him at the Bassmaster Classic Expo at Grand Lake in 2013 and not only is he a terrific fisherman, but also a nice guy.
Lots of pros I'd like to fish with also. I'd really like to spend a day flipping boat docks on Lake of the Ozarks with Denny Brauer.
I think I'd enjoy a day in the boat with Mark Zona as well. The guy is a crack up on and off the camera and a pretty dang good fisherman too.
Paul Elias . hes wins tourneys by doing what others dont . Also Rick Clunn and Guido . They just do their own thing i'd like to go sucker fishing with Guido lol.
Also like to fish with KVD so I could kick his butt with a spincaster ..

X2
Clunn...he's old school...
ZONA!
Hank Parker and KVD.
I would learn tons from any of them, but, I can't imagine a pro that'd be more fun to fish with than Swindle.
I'd like to fish with my dad, but he says he's too old and not interested. And he's the one who got me started down this road.
Gerald Swindle seems like a great guy to learn from, but he'd smack talk you all day. LOL
Bill Dance is the one I've followed all my life and a national treasure. So I guess just to enjoy a day of catching fish, I'd pick him.
Of course I would also like another day with my dad but here are the pros Id prob enjoy:
Randy Howell, Todd Faircloth, and Aaron Martens. Im sure all three would increase my fishing knowledge by leaps & bounds. Id also like to smallmouth fish with KVD. Throwing a spinnerbait or jerkbait and whacking brown fish all day seems like it would be fun!!

Denny Brauer and Mark Zona were the first two I thought of when I opened this thread. Brauer Bass Battles with Denny and his son Chad was my favorite fishing show, I really miss it.
I'd also like to fish with Mike D from Lunkerville. I'm betting he knows WAY more about fishing than he lets on during the show.
My grandfather would for sure be first without a doubt, but since you stated a pro, it would have to be Ike just because his passion for the sport is addicting. He seems like he'd be a blast to hang out with for a day, and I loved his city limits show.
smallmouth fishing with Bill Dance
Grandfather and Bill Dance!
Denny Brauer..We'd be flippin and punchin all day
Mike
For a famous angler, Roland on the "Big O". Oh son! My pops for everyone.
Denny Brauer! One of my all time favorite hero's of bass fishing!
(Not Ike! Never)
Dave from this forum.. and not in separate boats.
Capt Mike
If y'all wanna learn how to locate productive water quickly no one is better than Larry Nixon...not even KVD!
None of them, famous bass fishermen don't impress me too much. I'd rather fish with guys from here, or my buddies.
My dream day of bass fishing is when my kids get old enough/interested enough to want to spend the entire day fishing with their old man. At ages 6 and 11, I have learned to not push it much past the first few "daddy can we go now" , I don't want them to hate it.

He didn't state "pro" he actually said "famous".
I would have to say either Todd Faircloth to learn from or Andy Montgomery to talk trash with....
Shinichi Fukae or Jimmy Houston
On 2/3/2016 at 10:58 PM, RB 77 said:Roland on the "Big O". Oh son!
Him or Scott on the Big O would be a day to remember forever. So much you could learn from them, especially on their home turf.
Monster Mike catch Peacock Bass. He always catchs huge Peacocks down in Flordia. Or Thefishwhisper1 (look him up on instagram) he has his personal pond with trained bass and he does sick tricks. Also of course the legend Bill Dance and fish one of his lakes with him. Or one the tour It would be Ish Monore and flip pads with him
This is tough because there's so many different pro's that I'd like to go with for a particular technique they do well. But I would probably choose Tim Horton because he's such a darn nice dude and obviously an excellent angler. Brent Ehrler comes to mind because he seems to be a nice guy but more than that he's extremely impressive. He's a bad arse! Keith Watson just because he's so funny and I'd like him to show me how to whack em' with that spoon. Zona and Mercer I like too! Mercer is absolutely hooked up with gear....amazing amount of money on the deck of that boat at all times, not to mention his tackle. Impressive. Also, maybe the guy that owns Roman Made. He has a sick set up and amount of gear and tackle too. I need to learn how to catch em' on those big glides....language barrier might hurt the lesson a bit....LOL
This is just too hard, I give up! lol !

Probably the best worm fisherman to ever pick up a rod IMO, something tells me you may have spent some time on the water with this feller... hhmmmmm,
"Famous"....?
Lots I'd really enjoy fishing with, but I guess I could narrow my top 3 or 4 to Buck Perry, Rick Clunn, Al Lindner and Bill Binkelman, in no particular order.
-T9
Larry Dahlberg
I'd have to say either Iaconelli or here lately I'd like to fish with Mark Daniels. Started watching him on circuit breaker and been following him on social media also, just seems like a real cool guy that would be fun to fish with.
I too am old school when it comes to the pros. 1). Hank Parker, because he would keep you laughing while your learning. 2).Bill Dance, a good person, funny, and one of the best all around. 3). Jimmy Huston, funny and a great spinner bait guy.
Funny, great sense of humor is an important factor.

We belonged to the same bass club!
In Megabucks tournaments the lake is divided into 10 sections, the top 10 qualifying anglers rotate through each section every 50 minutes.
Larry Nixon won 4 times
I am thinking a little out of the box here... Theodore Roosevelt. I know he was an avid fly fisher, but I think he would be the type of guys telling "dirty" stories while fishing.
I think it would be Bill Dance: I grew up watching him on TV and really fell in love with the sport because of him. I love that he puts all of those crazy bloopers of himself out ever so often.
A lot of guys could really teach me a ton about fishing but few can tell a story like Dance. Jerry M would be in the top five as well. My first thought actually went to Mark Zona but I don't know what to make of his appearances like at the Detroit fishing show. One night only and one time only.....
I have never met any of these guys so its really a crap shoot as to who would be the most fun to spend a day on the water with
A few Elite series guys I would want to fish with. My top choice definitely wouldn't be Aaron Martens or KVD

Dare I say mentor ? if so, I don't think you could have picked a better one, what a great bass club to be associated with.
Probably Brandon Palunik. His hometown is really close to me in northern Idaho, and I know hes spent alot of time fishing lake CDA, hayden, and pend oreille. Would be interesting to fish those waters with him.
On 2/4/2016 at 3:51 AM, Steveo-1969 said:I'm curious... Why not either of those guys?
I don't know. I'd just rather fish with someone else I guess.
Patrick McManus. Maybe not famous for fishing, but how would that trip NOT be enjoyable?
I only get to do it once a year, but these guys are a lot of fun to fish with:
My daughter just started high school so I'm on borrowed time with here.
This was 4 years ago.

That right there, it just don't get no better, what a great lookin family you have big guy !!!
i'd like to fish with brandon palaniuk swimbaiting with him would be awesome. kvd or ike i feel like i could learn a lot from them especially about cranking
Scott Martin and Glenn May are probably my two biggest heroes. Brandon Palaniuk and Michael Iaconelli are up there as well.
And heck, I'd go out with any of ya'll. And have a blast.
Even Raider
Stacy King or Larry Nixon,Good old school guys.Alot of knowledge there.

You see the name Larry Nixon and it leaves you in awe, I see a guy I grew in the sport with.
Bobby Murray.
First person I would choose to fish with is my better half.My second choice would be family members.

What did he do at the Detroit fishing show?
You did say famous bass fishermen right? I was a little confused by some of the responses. I would also pick my son, IF her were a famous bass fisherman, but he is not. Famous fisherman? Bill Dance hands down.
The folks I would want to fish with would Include Catt, Mike Siebert, AJ, Dwight Hottle, Marty Burns, and Sam!
On 2/3/2016 at 10:58 PM, RB 77 said:Roland on the "Big O". Oh son!
He's my third choice.
Amazon with Larry Dahlberg ?
good question, still alive? id have to say denny braurer,.... gone but not forgotten? Billy Westmoreland,.. I've met denny and he's a great guy,.... as to why? i like to flip. Never met billy, but i learned alot about smallie fishing from him
Well if I could fish with anyone for a day it would have to be my dad, he has been gone 13 months. The man taught me everything I know about fishing he was a boat Mechanic for 35 years and at one point t in time worked for Rowland Martin at his marina. He was 2 tourneys away fromantic the classic. Man what I wouldn't give just to fish with him one more time..
Different kind of pro but John Riggins is up there too.
Bill dance and Skeet Reese
Spence Petros. I had a chance to do just that 30yrs. ago, but there was a death in the family and I had to cancel. The man is a fountain of information, not just on bass fishing but fishing in general. Many an angler has learned important lessons from mentors such as him, sadly the only ones I did were from his informative articles.
Going to go old school here and say Virgil Ward. When I was young, I use to watch him on TV after we got home from church.
Butch brown, Swindle, or Tim Farmer(host of KY afield).
I would say Bill Dance, watched him on TV forever. To me he is just a down home type of guy.
Greg Hackney. He is from my neck of the woods and my favorite Pro fisherman. He also fishes the way I like to fish, would be really great to get to fish a day with Hackney.
Hackney or Edwin Evers. ..
Heck if I know anymore. Used to think I'd pick a
celebrity or two...but these days, I'm not so sure.
Come to think of it, probably Hank Parker. Nobody
trash talks as much as he does.
But I have to second @GonzoFishing - Larry Dahlberg
would be my "not-in-the-USA" guy, hands-down.
I'd really like to fish with Bill Siemantel. Duuude!
I'd fish with Pee Wee Herman if he could solve my deep fishing issues! I'd even do Pee Wee's little dance dance on the back deck! Lol
KVD, Denny Brauer, Larry Nixon.
I'd fish with the best fishermen I know...Fishing Rhino, DinKy, and Tate....hands down..any day.
This past year I got into top water in a big way.. I'd have to say Dean Rojas.
Runner up would be Mike Iaconelli. Humble beginnings. Quite a success story.
Mikey Balzz..
https://www.youtube.com/user/mikeybalzzfishing
Ish Monroe. Throwing Frogs all day.. on The Delta or Okeechobee
Brent Ehrler, Denny Brauer, KVD
Tommy Biffle. I'd love to get some one on one time with him. Hopefully resulting in him giving me a few pointers on flippin some jigs.
Matt Allen on the Delta or Clearlake.
Larry Dahlberg fishing for Musky
Charlie Moore (strictly for entertainment)
Bill Dance on a premier private lake.
Jerry McKinnis fishing Minnesota’s Boundary Waters for smallmouth.
Mark did not do anything personally at the Detroit show: I certainly would not mind meeting him or at the very least hearing him give a talk on local bass fishing. I was just being whiny about how hard it is to actually see him in person. Having him in on Thursday, and for only one time slot: it bummed me out a bit. The Toledo Bass Pro did the same thing a few years back: he was only in for just one time slot and it was not very easy for most guys to make. They don't bring anyone in now at that store: they just make the guys in the department do the talks.
id probably go with Westbred Diamond just from watching his "On the River" YouTube videos.
Hank Parker for sure. It seems like he would be a lot of fund to spend the day with.
The Dalai Lama, if he agrees.

Ya drink and fish do ya?
Here is my list:
1. Mark Zona - Heck of a personality
2. Aaron Martens - smart dude, may end up hating him by the end of the day
3. Ned Yost - 2015 WS Champs!
For me it would be my father whom I cannot fish with anymore. But there are days I swear hes watching me.
Jordan Laumbattus, uses nothing but a white spinnerbait, double willow and slays 'em everytime. Pitches, flips, cranks,.. he does it all with one lure! Seems like a cheap way to load up the tackle box.
Marty Zoffinger!
If you haven't heard of him (probably not many here have, but gaining a bit of popularity on YouTube) he is worth checking out! He is an everyday guy who loves kayak fishing in realistic settings, which is why I'd choose him.
KVD would be my choice because he is a smallmouth master.
I'd like to change my answer...................I would fish with Ike..............when he's not looking, or expecting it, I would push him in the water, sit back and watch the hilarity ensue.

I like the way you think .
Scott Martin...But I always have a blast with my dad and buddies but flipping out with Scott would be awesome
One of my customers is his mother in law
Gerald swindle because he is from my neck of the woods, a great teacher, and is an entertainer.
Second choice would be with iaconelli because he has always been a role model for me and my fishing. His motto "never give up" is something I say to myself while grinding it out in a tough tournaments. He is a hell of a fisherman, a good teacher and entertainer. Only reason he is my second choice is because he fishes a lot of smaller, finesse stuff and that is not my cup of tea.
Gerald swindle. I just feel like I relate more to him than any other pro on the tour.
I have been blessed to fish with Matt Allen, Arden Hanline Jr, and Ron Casner already; so next on my wish list is Arden Hanline Snr! For those of you not familiar with him he had the #4 biggest bass ever caught back in the 80s. He mainly fishes Southern California lakes. He never posts up pictures of himself instead just lets them go happy with himself as he just loves to catch fish and have fun. g man
Can't believe it hasn't gone this route yet....
ive got a few
brooke thomas- shouldn't need a explanation
fly fishing with rebeka redd or April vokey Also no explanation of why but they both are exceptional fisher women.
Bow fishing with Jaclynn crooks- perfection right there.
on a more serious note I'd say Ike or Zona
Gerald Swindle for sure. But if you catch 1 more fish then him he's gonna flip out.
Mercer
just too much fun!
Probably Ike seems like he would be fun to hang out with.
I think it would be funny to have a day in the boat with Biffle.
It'd have to be either Jimmy Houston or Gerald Swindle. Both great guys. I've met Jimmy quite a few times now. Crazy thing is the second time I saw him he remembered me by name and I hadn't seen him for a year. Maybe it amazes me more since I've forgotten peoples name within minutes after we've been introduced haha He's a great down to earth guy though. Swindle is just a hoot. The guy could have a career in stand up if he wanted.

I think if I got to fish with her and she wore what she does in most of her pics I'd have a very hard time concentrating on fishing!
I would pick Bill Dance because I really enjoy his show but when it comes down to it - I would have to pick Jimmy Houston because every time I turn his show on he's laughing and acting like he's having a great time.
my dad who passed away in august of last year why because he got me started in bassfishing
There's a lots of good folks to pick from, but for me I'd have to say Matt Allen hands down!
The guy who invented marshmallows.

+1 for the Dalai.
Gentleman George Cochran in shallow water. Git er done. Or Guido Hibdon big bass on light line and small plastics with patience and timing.
A couple come instantly to mind
Brent Ehrler (the guy is a finesse fishing prodigy but also one of the most diverse and talented anglers I've ever seen.)
Brandon Paulunick (because he's from my neck of the woods and is somewhat of a local hero.)
Doug Stange (who wouldn't want to fish with the multi-species king?!?)
Scott Martin (Scott has so much fun fishing aside from competing and he let's it show, I bet he'd be blast in the boat.)
Aaron Martens (he is and will remain my all time favorite fisherman, and he has so many hilarious compulsions and neuroses that I'd want to witness in person lol)
Bill Dance for sure. If not him Mark Daniels Jr.
Got paired with Larry Nixon on day 1 of the Bass 25th anniversary tournament, Ken Cook twice on Lake of the Ozarks all tremendous learning experiences.

Yeah man. He seems like a super great guy. Phenomenal fisherman too. I found out about him through the circuit breakers too. Have no idea how he isn't bigger than he is. He's only been fishing the tour a few years and got a top ten at the Forrest Wood Cup. He will be one of the legends some day for sure.
My buddy Preston back in Michigan we always had a great time just being on the water. He's the only person I know that even if we get skunked he still understands the value of just being.on the water like I do. That's muh boy haha.
If we're talking pros here I'd have to go, in preference order, with either 1) Ike or 2) Scott Martin. Their enthusiasm, especially Ike's, and knowledge amps me up just watching their videos. I can't imagine actually being with them! If we're talking non-pros, anyone of my family members. They're all obsessed just like me.
I'd pick Mark Daniels jr. Mainly because the guy seems super laid back and fun plus he really knows his stuff.
I'd spend the day with Matt Allen. He's a toad catcher!
Billy Westmorland The Smallie guru
Hmmmm tricky... I would have to say gman swindle
Bill dance ?
I agree that after seeing the FLW Circuit Breaker Season 3, I would definitely choose Mark Daniels Jr. What a class act, with a humble yet funny side who is a great angler. My runner-ups would be:
-Greg THE HACK ATTACK Hackney
-Mike Iocanelli
-Scott Martin
I also love the youtube anglers that kill it. (Robert Terkla aka LunkersTV, Alex Peric aka APBassin and of course... the man himself: Andrew Flair aka Fishing with Flair). GOOGAN SQUAD guys rule. If you dont know about these guys.. youtube them they have 100's of thousands of followers. Cheers.
KVD - Denny Brauer - Larry Nixon and a bunch of fellows on the forum...too many to mention.
Now to the flipside of the equation: Can they tolerate a day of Brain-Picking?
Roger
Hank Parker
KVD and/or Zona smallmouth fishing right here in Michigan.
That is such a tough question. Each pro have their own way. The one I would like
to spend a day with is KVD.
KVD, power fisherman. Expert on graphs.
I struggle with off shore confidence. he seems to be one of the best at finding fish off shore. All the while
using a power fishing approach. I find it interesting and amazing.
For a fun day on the water...... Ike and Gman all the way. It would be a blast with those guys!

Exactly.

Hmmmm, I think it's the other way around Roger.
Aaron Wiebe, I would love to fish with that dude, although he's a multi species angler he is a very well respected bass tournament angler in Canada he won the KBI on LOTW a few years back. If you haven't been to his youtube channel uncut angling do yourself a favor and check it out.
During these long cold Ohio winters, I think about this question often. It'll probably never come true but it's fun to daydream.
1st. Seth Feider would be an absolute blast on Mille Lacs slaying huge brown backs.
2nd. Matt Allen just because he's such an excellent, selfless teacher (and he catches toads)
3rd. Larry Nixon because he seems so humble yet could teach me better than anyone about finding fish.
4th. Mark Daniels, Jr because of all the reasons everyone has already mentioned. Humble, funny, talented, genuine.
1. Denny Brauer - to learn all I can about flipping and pitching
2. KVD -to learn all I can about crankbaits
3. Ike - to watch him at work and learn about everything
4. Aaron Martens - have a good time with a great guy and learn a lot about everything
Im going with Greg Hackney. The man is full of information, and can flat out catch fish anywhere he goes. Nobody else does what he does with a big jig and a broomstick. I would love to pick up some deep water jig tips from him.
First re-action answer would be KVD, but after some thought it would have to be Zona. That would be so much fun, he's got a really cool attitude and catches some nice fish too!
I'm going all arkansans: Homer Circle, Cotton Cordell, Bill Norman, Larry Nixon, George Cochran, Bobby Murray, Mark Davis.
Harry and Charlie. Rick Clunn if they weren't available.
Tactical bassin
For me its a toss up between Ike and Gerald Swindle. Both have a good sense of humor and both have a lot of knowledge to teach anglers.

Hank Parker once cast his shadow and caught a bass on it .
Don't really care about fame and fortune. My first choice would be my BIL Gerald who taught me the basics and fine points of tournament style fishing. His age finally got him and he's in a nursing home, but d**n could he find/catch bass. My second would be Stephen.......he started me bass fishing, shallow water, slow and steady. My third is my buddy Ken.........we go fishing to have a good time........and we ALWAYS have a good time...........he's truly my brother............
Definitely Greg Hackney. His home area is the same area I fish in south Louisiana and from watching his videos he seems like he'd be a ton of fun to spend a day with.

James Watson, just because he cracks me up.
G- Man
Just to fish - not to get lessons, or improve any particular skill set - Bill Dance. There may be better fishermen, there are folks who have shown to be great teachers in any area, and there are some who are funnier, more exciting, more whatever. But, I grew up watching Bill Dance. His show inspired me to go beyond the fishing I was taught as a small child and because of him I saved up money (birthday, Christmas, etc lol) and put in my first order of "Bass Lures" from the Bass Pro catalog over 30 years ago. Now, I had no idea what I was getting - but I had about $100 dollars worth of gear that I just KNEW would put me on fish like Bill caught on TV.
Never mind I wasn't fishing lakes. Never mind that we didn't have those lunkers in WV that he caught on TV. Nevermind that I thought he was catching all those in half an hour... I had the big jerkbaits, and whatever else I got, and just KNEW I was going to slay them. Well, it didn't quite work out that way...lol.
But, when it comes to fishing icons, there is just no one like Dance. Roland, Shaw, Hank, KVD, Ike, and ton's of others are great, and would be a ball to fish with, but if I had once chance it would be no contest. I would be gone fishin', with Bill Dance today!
Probably been said a hundred times within this thread, but my dad. Just one more trip with my dad. Miss him every day.
Def bill dance and Big Nadine himself Paul E

This^^ Just got a lump in my throat thinking about him.H ere he is with my brother.
I've probably learned more from Bill Dance about fishing (not just bass) than any other TV personality, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy that would be fun to spend a day with.
My dad. Miss fishing with him so much.
1. Aaron martens
2. Jimmy Houston
2. Bill dance
4. KVD
5. mark zona or Gerald swindle
DAD of course
and anyone that knows more than me about catching Bass , as long as they smoke and put the butts in their shirt pocket, don't through stuff in the water or on the ground.
1) My grandfather (not famous but the one that taught me how to fish)
2) Shaw Grigsby on Okeechobee Lake. (he has way too much fun)
3) Michelle Jalaba (if I wasn't catching anything at least the scenery would be beautiful)
My great-great grandfather. According to my grandmother when he came to New haven in the early 1900's from Sicily he peddled fish out of a push cart. He would row his 10ft boat out into new haven harbor and fish for blackfish, fluke and others.
This picture is from a local newspaper sometime in the early 40's. He rowed out to the breakwater looking for blackfish, on his way in he found this monster stranded on a rock by the receding tide. Claws to tails it was 24 inches and weighed around 20lbs.
Mariko Izumi?
G-Man was my first response.
But Mark Rose is on fire at the moment. He's humble, down to earth and gives God the glory.
I can't say just 1. First my Grandfather who took me to Canada for Pike, Musky, Walleye when i was 14. He went with my Grandmother every year and there were 3 of us grandkids. We could not go until we got old enough and strong enough to pull our own weight. We flew into a wilderness camp and had to carry our own water and chop wood. I got to go 1 year before we lost him to Leukemia. Second, my father who was not really a hard core fisherman but the joy he got from me taking him to secluded waters to float fish Smallmouth (100 fish days) could never be equaled. As a matter of fact his request to have his ashes scattered in the water I took him to was the ultimate honor to me.

She is easy on the eyes. But, how could you listen to her for more than five minutes, and not throw her overboard?
Definitely my late grandfather. He passed when I was 12, before I was old enough to become my own man. As an adult, there is so much we would now have in common and share together. Between my schooling, cancer diagnosis when I was 15, meeting the love of my life, and fishing, there was so much I wish he could have been there for. My family always talks about how different our life would be with him here; how big a part he would have been.
I take a lot of pride in what I have accomplished and overcome in life, but it never feels complete since he wasn't here to see it.
He was definitely more of a eatin' fish kind of man, not so much a bass fisherman, but regardless, a day on the water with him, for him to see what I have become...
George Bush. I remember watching the news when I was younger and they reported that he was something like 100 days fishing without a fish. So I'd out fish the president.

KVD just because I'd like to huck spinnerbaits at his pace for a day.
I fished with a guy who spent a day in the back of Clunn's boat once. This guy has fished a lot of opens with a lot of guys.
Maybe Clunn was just in a bad mood, but my friend said he never fished with a pro who was such an a-hole in his life. This was around 2000 or so. Wouldn't talk to him; my friend never asks for advice but most pros (in his experience) make suggestions here and there and tell them the day's strategy. Clunn didn't say a thing other than we're moving now and other procedural stuff like that.
Id like to spend the day with Scott Martin catching peacocks. Ive seen some of his videos and he seems like an awesome guy.
I think Zona and Iconelli would be a blast.
But I'd still go back to the first of the thread... My DAD, and actually my Father In Law too. (never fished with him). Dad's been gone 10 years now, and we just had the first anniversary of losing my FIL.
It is those two guys being the reason my wife said we were buying a bass boat. I grew up fishing/having a place on High Falls, bream, crappie, catfish and my wife did the same thing all around the Atlanta area. To have the opportunity to fish with either of them again would be worth taking years off my life.
FWIW... took me till the ripe young age of 60.... this week to buy my first bass boat! We'll fish it this weekend, as we put old antique crankbaits on our lines (that belonged to our Dads) and raise our rods to them teaching us how to fish. With no doubt tears in our eyes.
Jason Lucas. Though we both prefer to fish alone is love hear his thoughts on how bass fishing turned into a comercialized monstrosity.
Hard question but Al Linder the guy is a legend. Scott Martin close second.
KEN PENROD III, knows the potomac like the back of his hand
Gman, Hack Attack, Ike or Wheeler. My 4 favorite anglers to watch.
On 2/3/2016 at 12:26 PM, N Florida Mike said:If you could fish with any famous bass fisherman for a day,who would it be and why?
Rick Clunn, Gary Klein, KVD, Hank P., Ike, Hackney, Zona, Gman..ALL for obvious reasons
My grandpa would be the sentimental choice. Hackney, Martens, Andy Morgan or Jon Cox would be my choices from the pro ranks.
Luiza
Bill Dance, no question. To answer the question why: It's Bill Dance.
Roland Martin
Aaron Martens, I wouldn't have to listen to him rattle on all day!
I always thought Scott Martin was cool. I'd fish with him (Probably not going to happen)

Me too - I like Scott. Got to see him at the FLW event on Harris Chain earlier this month - he was a great guy. Very nice to the kids and his fans.

Yeah - he was really cool. I mentioned this in another thread, but as he was leaving...he stopped his truck and got out and asked a kid if they wanted a picture with him. Then proceeded to get out of his truck and go over there and take a picture with the kid. You know it made his day. I gained a lot of respect for Mr. Martin after that...became an even bigger fan. This was the Saturday after he failed to qualify. A lot of guys would have hit the road and went home after being eliminated the day before.
I'd say Kevin Van Dam cause he's a great fisherman
Probably Greg Hackney, b/c he has such a great understanding of jig fishing and such and I would really like to learn from a pro.
I think zona and hackney would be a blast.
so many great choices.
1st:Deny Brauer or greg hackney- i love the way they flip gnarly mats
2nd: david fritts: that man can crank
3rd:kvd just because
4th:rick clunn all around great
5th:james watson he is a riot

i met charlie moore years ago at a fishing expo put on by a small fishing club and he is a real big bag of d**ks. just an arrogant jerk.
On 2/3/2016 at 9:52 PM, MDBowHunter said:My grandfather would for sure be first without a doubt, but since you stated a pro, it would have to be Ike just because his passion for the sport is addicting. He seems like he'd be a blast to hang out with for a day, and I loved his city limits show.
Second this post exactly. I loved city limits fishing and I grew up across the river from Ike. I read his book and realized that him and I fished a lot of the same water, so I'd love to do that with him. He is such an addicting personality and his love for the sport and desire to help others fall in love with it almost mirror mine. I'd also love to spend a day on the water with KVD because I love his techniques and feel like he inspired the way I fish today. I'd love to meet Zona because he cracks me up.
I'd go with KVD. All of the pros know more information that anyone could possibly absorb in one session, but as Gerald Swindle once said in an interview, KVD is the most positive guy he knows. Being around people with a positive attitude no matter what, makes things that much more enjoyable, even if it's a 0 fish, 20 breakoff day.
I've been away from fishing since my teens, and I'm almost 42 now. Young at heart, I've relied more on the internet to get back up to speed on stuff I should have known before, or stuff I had forgotten, or new stuff that didn't exist back then.
From all of that, I've done a lot of youtube watching since it is the most accessible on-demand platform, and from a Pro perspective Scott Martin seems to have really embraced the format better/more than a lot of the "pros" out there. Doesn't hurt that he's Roland's son (I didn't even put that together at first). He truly seems to enjoy putting himself out there, all the time, not just when he's in front of a TV camera, or in a tournament or obligatory sponsor appearance.
After that, honestly a couple of the bigger Youtube guys would be my next pick. Justin Rackley (LakeForkGuy), probably first, and if Rob Terkla (LunkersTV) happened to be there, it wouldn't hurt - those 2 seem to have a lot of fun fishing on the same boat. They also share a lot of ideas/techniques without turning it into a seminar or sponsor plug every time.
If we went back to pros - after Scott, then Brent Ehrler or Andy Montgomery.

I like to look at his lovely wife , shes a doll .
I would like to fish with Gary Yamamoto:
I WOULD FISH WITH A 5" YAMAMOTO SENKO IN GREEN/PUMPKIN COLOR...
TRY FISHING IT "WACKY RIGGED", "WEIGHT-LESS & TEXAS HOOKED", AROUND DOCKS, DROP-OFFS, LAY DOWNS AND ANYWHERE THERE ARE "WEEDS"
Randy Howell, besides a great fisherman, he is a super nice guy. Got to meet him when the Elites came to Barnett.
Scott Martin, my favorite.
Definitely al Linder or hank Parker.
in order
My father (original fishing partner)
Hank Parker
Bill Dance (both of the above because they are just decent people, with vast knowledge)
lastly, Iaconelli....he's as loose in the noodle as I am.
TackleJunky81 seems more of a better opportunity when both of us live in Illinois and also he cares on teaching versus just informing and promoting
My father of course. If it has to be someone famous I'd go with Italo.
I'd love to fish with @A-Jay for a day. As well, there's a couple of great sticks up here in Canada that know our water really well. People like Gord Pyzer, "Big Jim" McLaughlin, and a close personal friend named Danny Dunn. It'd be an honour to learn from any one of these gents.
As far as Elite pros go...first choice would be KVD, second would be Ike, and third would be Edwin.
The sentimental choice would be dad...he's still alive but mobility is a real issue for him in his old age. We used to drift around in the canoe plunking worms for panfish and bass in between weed clumps...those were some really fun times.
A day on the water with Bill Dance would be just plain fun, and it wouldn't matter if we caught a single fish.

What he said
Any of the Linders-freaking legends that have proven they are great teachers!
LakeForkGuy-feel like I know him!
KVD-The greatest tourney fisherman and my kind of guy, humble and positive!
Sorry but I think I'd rather not go fishing than fish with Ike. He drives me crazy.
Either KVD or Roland Martin. Both great anglers and good people.
Palaniuk or A-mart
I think it would be James Watson since he's freaking hilarious or KVD of course.
well he was not a famous bass fisherman but I sure would love to spend a day with Dad fishing again. He was the first to take me fishing and we made some pretty good memories that I sure cherish. Dad has been gone 17 years now and there is not a day that goes by that I do not miss him. If you still have your Dad with you and he likes to fish do not miss the opportunity to make some memories with him. You will be grateful someday that you did.
First choice would be my grandson Logan.
He is just getting into fishing and its great to see his excitement.
We bought him a bait casting reel for his birthday and I gave him one of my very favorite
crank bait lures. His very first cast with his new rod and reel and the lure I gave him, he caught a bass.
Was maybe a 1 pounder but was he so proud.

I would most likely choose Scott Martin. He seems like a really mellow and chill guy. And he knows his stuff.

His mother in law is one of my customers. She seems to really like him.She knows Roland too,of course. When I found all that out I was telling her how much I had enjoyed their shows through the years and she said maybe she could set it up where I could meet them someday.Im not holding my breath over it,but that would be cool.
Kate Upton, and I'd only bring jerkbaits and spooks...

and a CD with only one song....Cat Daddy?
My dad.
If I had to pick a pro it'd be Jacob wheeler. He seems like a really cool guy. But I'd much rather spend a day with my dad. I was 7 when he passed away so our time together was extremely limited. He loved to fish and passed that onto me. So there'd be nothing in life I'd appreciate more than the spend a day on ouachita in my lil procraft with my father.
I like all those old school guys , but just to pick one is realy hard to say I have learned something from all of them.
My dad because he passed away unexpectedly on Mothers Day morning. He got me started fishing for bream, crappie and bass as early as I could stand still and hold a rod-earlier than I can even remember. My desire to fish surpassed his by the time I was 10 or 11. I would beg him to take me on the weekends and we would spend the week at the local lake when he was on vacations. I honestly don't know who I would be without fishing as a pastime or without my parents as role models. I miss him more than I ever thought I would. I got him to go once last summer to a really good pond and he caught a few before he got tired and sat on my tailgate talking to the landowner who is a family friend. I knew that would likely be the last time we ever fished together. Now I wish I had taken pictures.
On 2/5/2016 at 11:17 AM, Burtonxj said:Different kind of pro but John Riggins is up there too.
Riggo would be able to show you how to fish those old Budweiser crankbaits.
Soft spoken guys like Guido Hibdon or Rick Clunn would make for an enjoyable day .
Those pros who hoot and holler like a chimpanzee when they land a nice bass get on my nerves . Thy act like its their first decent bass .
I would have to go with the man himself, Glenn May. Just seems like a really down to earth guy and a wealth of information. I've personally learned a ton from him and his videos.
Dad's wrist has been bothering him lately, but I know we'll get out fishing together again soon. As far as famous folks I'd have to go with Hank Parker. Seems like a down to earth straight shooter to me. I'd be like a sponge around him and I'm sure I could learn a ton and have lot of fun doing it.
