So I have been having great success micro fishing lately, and have been hooking into much larger bass than I have been targeting, which is awesome. So its been a great learning experience, as they say you can catch big fish on small lures, I am beginning to think, a lot of the larger fish I have caught, could have been caught on smaller lures. So I thought it would be interesting to see what size and type of lures everyone has caught their PB on. 4 inch texas rigged worm with a 1/4 oz weight for example, so on and so forth. If you would like to share a pic of your PB, that would be cool too.
My PB was caught on a 1/2 oz cotton cordell lipless crankbait.

awesome, per your advice, having great success going lighter and smaller. Was reading your previous posts in the search function for el dorado lake in long beach a moment ago. I caught a nice bass and a nice crappie there today in 45 minutes on 4lbs test and small lures. first time fishing there, never tried cause i heard the place sucks. I dunno if i just got lucky or not but ill be going back for sure

I bet, you might want to sign the petition that is going on right now. LB is my hometown. They want to make concession stands that sell food and alcohol in the park. Its going to bring a lot of traffic, trash, and perhaps crime and idiotic drunk behavior. Perhaps I should post it to the forum.
That would Not be good for the park.

im gonna share it then to try to get more signatures cause yeah, its gonna ruin the place. I have rented the pedal boats there before, but cannot find any info on the website about bringing your own kayak and if you could fish from it. Figure Ill have to give them a ring tomorrow to find out.
As far as I know, you cannot launch any personal watercraft at El D..Do they still have park Rangers patrolling there..?

yeah, one was giving everyone the boot at 5pm. I doubt you can fish from the rentals either than.
Very simple, 8.5lb on 4” senko weightless.
1/2 oz Rat-L-Trap ????
BPS Stick-O 5 & 3/8" Black & Blue weightless 5/0 EWG Gamakatsu

9lb 2oz
1/2 oz. Pegged tungsten, Junebug Ultravibe. Bass in Profile pic.
After that bass I quit using ultarvibes, couldn't tell ya why?
5.2 lbs Minnesota fish on a pounder bulldawg in walleye color, 16” 14oz musky lure hahaha. Quite the ambitious fish
3/8 oz chatterbait (Buddha Baits Swagger Jig more specifically, which are unfortunately no longer being made) in a bluegill color with a zoom super chunk trailer. 5.82 pounds
Jig and pig . All Black with an Uncle Josh pork frog .
11.3 LM-- leopard frog booyah poppin pad crasher
Biggest largemouth was on a wacky rigged green pumpkin/gold flake BPS stick-o worm.
Biggest smallmouth was on a white buzz toad.
11-8 largemouth on a 3/4 oz SK red eye shad
7-6 smallmouth on a rapala tail dancer
Call it lucky or unlucky but I've got 3 fish in an exact tie for my PB to the hundredth of a lb so...
1st - Wacky rigged watermelon sticko
2nd - Lethal Weapon Swimjig
3rd - 9" MS Slammer
Evegreen OB 68 Magic Gill popper.
4 1/2 lb on a black and blue Zoom ZCraw, t rigged with a 3/8 oz bullet weight.
6.8lbs, caught on a red and white Strike King spinnerbait with a paddle tail trailer.
After 60+ years of fishing I have to say I consider myself a worm/jig fisherman with spinnerbaits a close second. That being said, of the 10 or so bass I have managed to catch that were over 6 lbs.....every one was on a crankbait. I have no explanation for this.
Both are NY fish. I don't keep track of the out of state PBs, since an 8 lb. from Florida is hardly a trophy.
7-2 LMB: Texas rigged 10" Black Powerworm, 1/2 oz. bullet weight and 5/0 worm hook in 30-ish FOW
5-12 SMB: Drop shot Ayu Cross Tail Shad (flat side up), 3/4 weight and #4 drop shot hook in 40-ish FOW
Interesting 2nd place counter point:
7.1 LMB: Junebug 4" Flick Shake Worm on 3/16 Zappu Wacky jig in less than 1 FOW
On this AC Mag Shad that’s seen it’s fair share of use ????

why?
I haven't weighed fish for over 30 years, and the only length I pay attention to is the DNR legal limit. But the 3 biggest bass (not other species) that I've caught were on a Rapala Countdown CD9 (25 years ago), a 1/6th oz. Super Roostertail (first year in the lakes) and a 1oz. Eppinger Dardevle (last year).
Now if we want to talk about other species ..... well, that's another matter entirely. ???? jj

3. black Cavitron buzzbait

1. 4" Senko

My PB was caught at sunrise on a black jitterbug.
11 lb. 13 oz. on a 10" junebug worm.
3 largemouth about 8lbs, one on Texas rig chartreuse pepper zoom swamp crawler, one on buzz bait, and one on a gold silver buddy
smallmouth was probably my avatar fish with a rapala rippin rap but I’ve caught a whole lot of smallmouth about 5.5 lbs and I really have no idea which was PB. Seems like 2 or 3 of them ate rattle trap type lures
Mine was a 9 lb. 3 oz. pre-spawn female on a Rapala jointed floater (J7). I was using 6 lb. mono on a Shimano Symetre 2000 reel and a 6 ft.ML Abu Garcia B.A.S.S. spinning rod. It is a great memory.
@Jonas Staggs idk why, it was my go to worm for a long time. I just started using a 3/8 punch rig with small creature/bug.
Makes me wanna slip one on a t-rig tomorrow ????
Buttered Wonder bread, bobber.
I like the ones who don’t watch their weight...
8” weightless bull worm, moon juice color. Somewhere between 2 and 16 pounds.
Heddon Dying Flutter ... no longer in production ... on a 60 acre lake ... early early in the morning with a blanket of fog ...
good fishing ...

In Canada so biggest are 5 lbs.

it’s 365 acres, separated from Norman by the interstate, connected only by a pair of overflow culverts. it has alot of spots in there now but still has some healthy largemouth. it’s where i keep the little johnny. it’s also where 90% of my fish pics taken. i got a 4 pound spot there last summer.

That’s the exact same thing I caught my 8.4 PB on back in 97.
My PB smallie was caught on a 4" senko under a floating dive platform on Great Herring pond, Plymouth, and my best LMB chomped a black/blue chigger-craw, texas-rigged at Ponkapog pond in Canton, MA.

Those were killer back in the day. We would go out with 5 bags of those, some split shot and our rods. We would come back stinking like trash as those power baits used to reek.
I got my PB slow rolling a spinnerbait in 15' of water.
Nice to see you up here, @JT Bagwell

I've caught several big bass on that lure . I think its a very underrated lure .
5" Black/Blue Senko Texas Rigged weightless on my Abu Garcia Black Max combo..........5#
I have several personal bests. PB farm pond fish was 7 1/2 (weighed ) caught early in the year - black & blue tube, 1/8 oz head 6 lb line. PB Conservation Lake fish was around 7 ( educated guess ) caught on a wacky senko, green pumpkin with purple glitter, 1/16 Falcon weedless wicked wacky hook.
PB 10" worm fish was around 5. PB major reservoir fish happened last October at Truman Lake, 6 something (educated guess) on a half ounce Biffle Bug weight/ Zoom Craw trailer (green pumpkin with glitter and chartreuse dyed claws.)
Biggest fish from other Ozark reservoirs, Beaver, Table Rock, Stockton, Bull Shoals, Taneycomo are nothing to brag about, i.e. slightly larger than the 15" minimum. I think I caught a 19" spot at Bull Shoals once.
